  1. Anyone else having issues with WiFi calling? I have an S10 5G and keep getting an enablement error. Customer service and tech support have been an utter waste of time.

I've done factory data reset, profile update, PRL update, deactivated the device from my account and reactivated.

My S10 5G is working just fine with Wifi calling. Just made a call on it just to be sure. Might be your device.

  2. I just want B41 to work on my S10+.  My phone's RF seems to be degrading day by day.  It used to be that at -108, B41 would stop working.  Now at -105 it struggles to work and that means that most of the time, my data does NOT work.  I'm hoping the next update will fix it.  Heck, even my Essential PH-1, which can be an RF nightmare works when my S10+ does not.  Pretty sad IMO.  Samsung really screwed up.  And now, removing the headphone jack from the Note 10 guarantees I will not be upgrading to another Samsung device as I'm sure the S11 (or whatever they will call it) will not have it either.  I find it really strange that Samsung made a big deal about the S10 family still having a headphone jack, which was cheered at the big Samsung announcement, but now they are removing it.  What kind of company does that crap?
The Galaxy S10 5G is also having band 41 issues related to VoLTE and general RF. I likely will be going back to the S9+ before my 30 days is up. Get it together Samsung.

  3. Why is my S9+ still on April patch? Do you think it's cause I'm AT&T now?

Nope. Sprint model is in the same boat. Closing in on 3 months without a update.

  4. Indeed. I don't know if the holdup is Sprint or if it's Samsung and at this point I honestly don't care. It's beyond ridiculous that the S9 & Note 9 haven't gotten their VoLTE updates yet.

I moved on to the S10 5G. Got tired of the battery life and lack of VoLTE

  5. FDD-TDD limitations due to different radio technologies. Samsung phones has the most advanced radio configs and thus supports the most carriers but have limitations on MIMO streams as in no 4x4 MIMO on any component carriers. Most other devices are FDD+TDD and some are FDD+TDD+TDD but again there are limitations on MIMO streams.

Most of Sprints 1.9 network has 4x4 or 2x4 now live  and a large portion on 2.5 is 4x4  so that's a chunk of downlink capacity being traded off. It's a large balancing act and with the turnaround inside of Sprint and with the rudderless leadership, we can see why many projects do not come to fruition.

FWIW, FDD+TDD was identified early in the industry on as one potential solution to slow uplink speeds years ago alongside uplink CA using higher order MIMO. It is not the end all solution but a very useful tool in the toolkit if they can figure out how to use it.

What if they used it like this.

    Good b41 coverage

    [3xCA 4x4][2xCA upload]

    Medium B41coverage -115dbm or worse

    [b25+B41+B41]

    4x4(B25)

    2x4(B41)

    Bad coverage [b26+B25]

    4x2(B26)

    4×4(B25)

I see no usefulness to these configurations.

B25+B26 since that's not much extra capacity and would make B26 worse on its own.

B26+B41 because at this point b41 would be almost useless anyway. Although there have been a few times Sprint pushed me to b26 indoors but b41 still works just not great.

  6. As Tim mentioned to me earlier, there is one major downside to mixing TDD/FDD, none of these devices would support more than 2xCA while on TDD or FDD on PCC so you'd lose access to that additional capacity.
Bottom line, this isn't exactly the be all end all resolution for some of these upload issues.
Your right about that but that begs the question of why cant Sprint use b25+b41+b41+b41? Is there a reason?

  7. What's holding up TDD/FDD aggregation anyways? Is it the use of equipment from multiple vendors? Ericsson seems to have been able to achieve the feat back in 2015 using Qualcomm chips. (LINK) Is Sprint trying to avoid any negative PR from showing vendor or device favoritism?
It looks like HPUE was just a failed attempt to mimic the extended range of combining 2.5 downlink and 1900 uplink
HPUE also makes upload CA not as effective since the phone only uses one or the other.

  8. I saw he answered your question that FDD+TDD is coming will the S9/ note9 and S10 phones be able to use it ( cause they Support it) or will they force us to buy new phones

    The LG G7, G8, V40, V50, Pixel 3A, 3A XL, 3, 3XL, S9, S9+, Note 9, S10e, S10, S10 Plus, S10 5G, iPhone XR, XS and XS Max all support it.

That's plenty of "device ecosystem " and way more than just three 5G devices yet that is being rolled out.

  9. I keep hearing about the June patch finally making it to some phones. Yet here I am with April still being the most recent. This is really quite annoying.

Yeah I don’t know what’s going on. The Note 9 just got the May patch last week. And the S9 they just forgot about. How is the S8 seeing more support than its successor?

  10. None of my Tmo devices have allowed Engineering screens, and I am postpaid.  Using Nexuses, Pixels, Moto Z2 and my LG G7.  So I assumed it was all.  But perhaps some devices other than mine work on Tmo?

Oh when I say engineering screens. I mean the fact that samsung has 2 ways to look at them. *#0011# is Samsungs own method excluse to their phones. Verizon blocks both methods. On the other three carriers it works just fine.

  11. After playing with the S10 5G for 4 days I have some thoughts about network performance in comparison to the S9+.

This phone definitely has better b41 and b25 peak performance. Category 20 is flexing its muscles.

Bad news is this phone does not hold b41 or b26 as well as the S9+. It loves b25 and scans for b41 a little slower than I would like. B26 can go to 3G just by putting it in my pocket at edge of cell.

There is also something wrong with B41 on VoLTE, specifically with 5G NR on. If you turn off 5G the problem is resolved. Basically speeds on b41 go from 100mbps to 1mbps or less but it doesn't seem to happen every time but enough to notice.

Everything else about the phone is great. Especially battery life since I was charging my S9+ 2-3 times a day and it's only 16 months old.

Cameras are great and the front camera is actually a little different than the S10 plus. Its sharper. I got used to the cutout really fast and it feels lighter than my S9+ even though it has a bigger screen.

The fingerprint scanner is meh and feels very 1st gen to the point where imo they should have waited til the S11 to perfect it.

The speakers are SO LOUD! They almost drowned out my iPhone XS Max and we know that phone has very loud and deep speakers.

I have yet to test 25 watt super fast charging because the battery life is so good.

Overall it's a great device but I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it because of the rf performance overall not being as good as the S9+ besides peak performance and b25. I feel like they may have spent a little more time perfecting 5G over LTE.

Side note I may be going to Atlanta tomorrow and if I do I will make sure to test some 5G! With actual engineering screens since media didn't cover that for the super nerds like us. The [emoji851]

  12. It's the biggest reason why Network Enthusiasts use Sprint.  T-Mobile blocks them too.  On my Google Fi device, using the same SIM card, I can use Engineering screens when connected to Sprint and US Cellular, but not T-Mobile.  Only seconds apart.  The second it connects to T-Mobile after one of the other networks, game over.
    Robert
When did they start blocking them? T-Mobile engineering used to work on my S8+ just fine.
