  1. I drove over there today, and it is indeed running 4G.

    YEA!!! First south OC LTE!!!!

I got around 20mb down, and 6 up sitting in a parking lot in the general area. I ran sensorly, and it is now live. I only drove around a little bit, so I am sure the coverage is better, and someone else will get a better sense or where the 4G is over there.

sensorly updates when you stop mapping.

  2. Sprint is going with the same design as the GSM models this time? My theory is that if Sprint had just gone with the One X design and called it the EVO, that they'd have better performance on it. They could have sold the AT&T version with CDMA enabled and had a better phone.

but with the exception of the evo3d the term evo includes having an SD slot and a kickstand. the evo3d's main point was having 3d, which we all know failed horribly(I had the phone and minus the 3d it was a great phone.).

  3. From what I saw the stuff that Apples accused samsung of copying was very generic or things that they should not have a right to. Like the symbol for a telephone. The thing is universal. If anybody has a claim to that it should be a baby bell in my opinion.

true true. But what do you think about the dots to show what home screen your on as to apple's dots for app page? And Samsung going to a physical home button after they have established soft keys with the US S2. side note , I personally dislike apple a lot and am pro android all the way.

  4. IIRC Google has been pushing the manufacturers to get rid of all hardware buttons.

unification would be great software wise and it is a better way to differentiate from the iPhone. I'm personally Android and I hate to admit but Samsung did copy a lot of software stuff and the home button.

  5. What is with the trend of removing buttons? I want my search button back! I wonder how they plan on doing a menu and multitask button.

probably the same as it is now. The recent apps doubles up as a menu button on the EVO now. You don't really need search anymore since all you have to do is bring up Google now and say "google" and then say what you want searched or you can say "call 'name'" or "navigate to 'place'".

  6. So ideally sprint would want to try to get more in the 800s for when they deploy LTE in that ares. Assuming I kind of have an understanding. Since sprint only has. 14 in the 800s they can only deploy LTE in the 5x5 configuration. And vzn and att are at an advantage with 20 in the 850 each with some usable 700 spectrum. I think I've read that vzn wants to sell some of the 700 cause they can't use it or expensive deployment.

  7. Doing a quick glance over my records, these are the Big 4 spectrum holdings that I have for the Los Angeles market:

    VZW:

    • Cellular 850 MHz: 25 MHz
    • PCS 1900 MHz: 20 MHz
    • AWS 2100+1700 MHz: 20 MHz
    • Upper 700 MHz: 22 MHz
    • Lower 700 MHz: 24 MHz

    AT&T:

    • Cellular 850 MHz: 25 MHz
    • PCS 1900 MHz: 40 MHz
    • AWS 2100+1700 MHz: 20 MHz
    • Lower 700 MHz: 24 MHz
    • WCS 2300 MHz: 30 MHz

    Sprint:

    • PCS 1900 MHz: 40 MHz
    • SMR 800 MHz: 14 MHz
    • BRS 2600 MHz: 55.5 MHz

    T-Mobile:

    • PCS 1900 MHz: 20 MHz
    • AWS 2100+1700 MHz: 40 MHz

Some of these holdings are apt to change a bit in the coming months, though, due to pending transactions involving T-Mobile, MetroPCS, VZW, and AT&T. Also, not all of this spectrum is currently usable (e.g. WCS 2300 MHz, some Lower 700 MHz). And this accounting does not include Sprint's unattributable BRS 2600 MHz spectrum nor its EBS 2600 MHz spectrum, as the latter is only leased on a site basis.

    AJ

Holy crap! Thanks. I've tried researching all this but every source isn't clear or leave bits out. Huge help AJ!

  8. Maybe you guys have shed some some light on this topic. I've tried to do research on comparing how much spectrum the big 4 have license for. More specifically in Southern Cali in the OC and LA markets. I know they all have licenses for different spectrum in different areas. Also including the CLWR spectrum with Sprints. The whole "band" terminology confuses me.

To simplify, how much spectrum does each of the big 4 have(including clearwire) in the LA and OC markets.

  9. I'm from la mirada. I had lte in between imperial and rosecrans from la mirada to valley view. It was all pretty spotty. And as I drove down valley view towards buena park I had lte up until la Palma so roughly from imperial in la mirada to la Palma had some lte. La mirada is borderline oc la county so hopefully it keeps progressing

Just to make sure I understood your directions lol. From imperial going south to la Palma on valley view was spotty?
