  1. Both Sprint and T-mobile need to put up sites on the interstates, state and country roads. No excuse for it. I know that Sprint roams freely on other people, T-mobile much less so. Maybe if they are allowed to merge one of the conditions should be that they need native coverage everywhere that Verzon does!
  2. I think they are doing well but I do not for a moment believe they are covering 290 million POPs.
  3. When did they add that feature? In the beginning LTE was supposed to be just data with IMS/RCS providing voice and messaging. Are they using the control channel still or just subcarriers?
  4. So it seems that Sprint has implemented RCS after all because SMS usually use the control channel of a CDMA/GSM/WCDMA to send SMS.
  5. Even if the other carriers adopt it, it will be 4 separate silos, unless they open up their "phone book" to others for presence based messaging. Otherwise it's just SMS over IP.
  6. RCS has been around since 2007. It has very little takeup
  7. Heck no...plus everybody has company issued iPhones, so iMessage it is!
  8. They are free, just like SMS. All of my friends are on iMessage, and Facebook messenger some are also on Hangouts and kik.
  9. Whatapp is, Hangouts is, Facebook messenger is. Hangouts and Facebook messenger also have a desktop component. BBM is. We are not talking about SMS. we are talking about real time chat. AIM has been around forever. Let's face it. This is about operators controlling the messaging component so they can monetize it, e.g. ADS.
  10. The only problem with RCS based messages is presence detection. That part of the spec is optional. So until all carriers expose the names of their subscribers currently online it won't work cross carrier. Again, why should I use this instead of Hangouts, iMessage, Whatsapp?
  11. I think this article explains it better than I ever could. http://www.mobilitytechzone.com/topics/4g-wirelessevolution/articles/2012/11/07/315034-rcs-joyn-ott-killer-time-waster.htm
  12. RCS Is an attempt by the carriers to fight back against the OTT players such as iMessage, Whatsapp, Viber, etc. The horse has already left the barn however .
  13. With regards to tethering, it's my opinion that if I paid for data it should not matter how I use it. If that means the end of "unlimited" then by all means!
  14. Ah yes, the dreams of iDENites! Nextel management were really smart! They got top dollar for their company and pulled the wool over Sprint's board.
  15. Oh my god, look what's happening in the airline industry. They have at least 4 major carriers and then some some smaller ones as well. But prices are sky high and on top of that they are charging you for bags. The government is looking into collusion. So 4 carriers are not guarantee of competition as the airline industry so amply demonstrates. There is no way Sprint and T-Mobile will ever pay all that debt back particularly after the 600MHz auction. Then 5G will arrive in 5 short years. The idiots that run them should merge their networks at least or they will both be either bankrupt or subsisting for years or decades.
  16. As long as all music is treated the same, and that there is no "sponsored" data I have no problem with excluding music. You just can't play favorites!
  17. On overages here is my take. Just price your data per GB. You pay for what you eat. Have a reasonable per GB price. Maybe $7/GB or something like that. No fuss no muss! You don't have to ever change the plan. You can reduce the price
