WIRELESS TELECOMMUNICATIONS BUREAU SEEKS COMMENT ON SPRINT WAIVER
REQUEST TO PERMIT WIDEBAND OPERATIONS IN PORTIONS OF NEVADA AND
NORTHERN CALIFORNIA NPSPAC REGIONS
On February 12, 2014, Sprint Corporation (Sprint) filed two requests for waiver of Section
90.209((7) of the Commission’s rules1 to permit 800 MHz wideband operations in portions of the
Northern California (Region 6)2 and Nevada (Region 27)3 National Public Safety Planning Advisory
Committee (NPSPAC) regions prior to completion of the 800 MHz Band reconfiguration in those regions
(collectively “Sprint Waiver Requests”).http://transition.fcc.gov/Daily_Releases/Daily_Business/2014/db0219/DA-14-221A1.pdf

Well, to be honest, how many colleges/universities have you ever seen? Frame of reference is always key.
AJ
He must have never seen Indiana University in person - that would change his entire view of how a campus should look.

I ran into a crew last week up here in Richmond, I heard from both the contractor crew and a rep from Samsung that the "cutover"date to switch to the new backhaul was yesterday and that they were launching the "Cluster". We have not seen any changes as of this morning.......anyone have knowledge of the process of bringing the "Cluster" up? All the sites have all the equipment and backhaul installed.........Thanks!
Any update on your cluster launch? We had a huge cluster launch in Columbus market this weekend.

My phone does the same thing also. It was really bad this past Friday but it is barely doing it now. I thought it was because of all the network upgrades in Columbus ohio going on

I had the same issue in Columbus last week too. It did it three times on Thu/Fri last week.. Just a simple reboot and it was fine. Hasn't done it since.
I can't believe the two are related though?

Darn, I was going to put an offer in for $40 billion. They outbid me!

All quiet on the western front from what I can see
Very much so - but I did find two sites under active construction yesterday on the west side. Lots still needs worked on first though.

Found this interesting - inside a Nextel switch demolition. No wonder Sprint had a lot of money tied up into Nextel.

Eh, my first PC had a whopping 1 GB hard drive. I did not "need" more storage, and I somehow survived.
AJ
Your first PC had that much? I remember my dad's first Tandy computer had a 5.25" disk drive. Massive storage on that PC for the game 'Tapper'.

I'm just curious if anyone else has gone from having LTE coverage back down to 1x. (I live in Worthington if that matters)
That area was just recently launched. Perhaps they are testing something. If it doesn't come back tomorrow, I would call it in.

I would have thought it was much higher. I thought I remember them saying once that their own fiber was the largest source of backhaul they have. But relying completely on my memory for something I haven't seen or heard for a long time is rarely a good idea.

Your wall post from Feb 2012 said:
"Shentel is upgrading backhaul at every one of their 510 cell sites to microwave or fiber, allowing considerably more backhaul than they need at the moment. This will allow the backhaul to be scalable for future expansion. At some tower sites, where possible, Shentel will even provide their own fiber connection. Estimating possibly as high as 30% of their sites will be connected to their own fiber network. Shentel actually has been slowly upgrading their sites to fiber for the past few years within their past capex schemes.

Yeah you can see it on your right driving south on 270 after passing Roberts road.
Yep, that's a brand new Verizon tower unfortunately.
-
Guys, I have a question.

The first 2 pics are of the tower where crew worked on about 3 months ago. Is that a sprint tower?
Rest of the pics are of a tower where crews are working on right now. Is this a sprint tower?
Walcutt Rd sure is Sprint.
Rest of pics looks like Verizon. Is that the new tower near Roberts Rd on 270?

I was in Indy this weekend and had LTE pretty much the whole time from Indy back to Columbus except for near your little town of Richmond IN.

Yes, Happy Festivus. And, now, it is time for the Airing of Grievances. I got a lot of problems with you S4GRU people...
AJ
Quiet, you'll get yours in a minute. Kruger, you couldn't smooth a silk sheet if you had a hot date with a babe.. I lost my train of thought. -
Backhaul and LTE must be steering clear of Richmond like I-70 does. Man, just across the Ohio state line, I remember that big, sweeping curve, a huge change in the Interstate right of way.

All I want for Christmas is some brand new Samsung equipment installed AND a Red Ryder BB gun.

This is just a general request. We haven't had any updates on sites in these areas: Grove City, Gahanna, Westerville, Blacklick, Whitehall, Dublin, far N/W Columbus areas. I know we've gotten some feedback on Clintonville, Linden, UA and Hilliard lately. Is there anyone that passes through these areas that can take 15-20 minutes extra and just check up to report if there's any work in progress? There's a lot of sites in those areas that are unchecked or outdated checked on the map.
I'll check the Dublin/Far N/W Sites this weekend.

No, only iPhone 5s.

Site ID: Xxxx. Sorry wrong forum.
Sectors I could snag were 332 & 411. Sorry didn't being my TI85 to convert hex.

Hey peeps, we've created a Hangout Chat for Columbus S4GRU members. It is restricted to Sponsors at this time as Sponsored content is openly discussed
Pardon my ignorance - what is Google Hangouts all about?
I may have an iOS device now, but I was a big Android guy before. HTC Hero, and EVO 4G (still alive in my garage as my security camera. Volume buttons died and wife bought me a iPhone 5 to replace.)

Don't worry! The deadline for getting the majority of sites complete in Samsung markets is late December to early January. Most markets are beating this deadline. Once a market reaches majority complete, we'll see the clusters come online, first with 3G and 1x800 (where applicable) and the LTE will trickle in on a site-by-site basis in the days and weeks afterwards. We know that a huge number of sites already have equipment installed, with more everyday, so Denver should reach the tipping point soon.
What is this deadline you speak of for Samsung markets? I don't recall hearing about this.

I've seen them attach the hoist line to the rack overhead many times even though it leased by a different company than what is being worked on. Just makes things easier to pull up since the equipment comes right up to your level and you don't need a gin pole.
That makes sense... Out of curiosity, how the heck do they get that equipment up to the racks anyway? Simple as hoisting it up? I'm assuming those antenna panels and RRHs aren't very light!
