  1. Ok, was hoping it was new site bc looked kinda like sprint and I watched them install them yesterday...

It was certainly worth reporting. Sounds like we have some activity up in Delaware on north side of town for antennas. Keep your eyes peeled - I have a feeling we're getting close. Cleveland has some antenna activity as well. Maybe Sprint really hasn't forgot about Ohio?

  2. Anyone able to see if any sprint equipment on the tower?

Hard to say. I looked at the NV Map and there doesn't appear to be a Sprint tower right at the intersection of 70 @ 256. Appears to be on north of 70 on 256 (Lancaster Ave) but not right at the intersection.

  3. Did another speed test and signal strength and speeds were way down from a week ago....0.65 down and 0.04 up on 3G. I am less than 0.5 miles from the Livingston and Alum Creek tower that has the new cabinet.

I'm sure it hasn't been hooked up yet. At least we know that some NV work has begun in Columbus. Next thing for everyone to watch out for is people working on the towers themselves. Keep your eyes to the sky!

  4. I was driving on 70E today on west side of town and saw ropes hanging from a tower on the north side of the highway. I was convinced that a Sprint tower was near that location. After driving in a circle for a long time trying to find exactly where the tower was, I got near it and did see tower dogs working on it. Unfortunately it's not a Sprint tower. I am pretty sure it's TMobile or AT&T.

Only tower dogs in town should be working on Sprint! Don't tease me like that again.

  5.

I did a quick drive by if the Livingston/alum Creek tower, it looks like the new cabinets but CPD drove up, didn't get to compare to the new in the previous confirmed pictures... I'll check tomorrow and snap some pics.

  6. I follow the Pittsburgh thread as well because that's where I'm from and visit quite often. Looks like they're starting to see (keyword: starting) to see 4G access. It would be nice if we start to see access in the next 60 days.

Curious to see the lead time between permits issued and actual deployment. Some of the Phoenix sites getting deployed now were issued in late November. Columbus started getting issued in early Jan so perhaps we should in the next month or so.

  7. Quick question. There is a tower by my house and I'm not sure if its a sprint tower but whenever I'm near it when I'm driving I got execellent service. But anyways I was driving past the tower and I noticed that the white panels at the very top some of them were missing. Is this the process that sprint does if in fact this is their tower and the removal of some of white panels are part of the building of NV?

They Typically don't remove anything until after upgrades are complete. Snap some pics though and we could look at it?

  8. Hmm. This doesn't look like any Sprint cabinet or Samsung cabinets I've ever seen.

So, I stopped by the tower on Norton Rd again today to snap some pics. Apparently, there IS two new cabinets on the back end and you can clearly see they aren't plugged into anything (look at the second pic). Nothing has been done to the antennas on the pole.

I'm no expert - but they do look like the Samsung cabinets. The only marker I could see was the "McLean" on it but I think thats just the AC.. Can anyone confirm?

  9. Progress!!!

This is the site at 556 Norton Rd. I drive by it everyday to and from work. A new cabinet was there on a trailer this morning now it looks like the cabinet is inside and they are working on it. I'll try to get a better picture later. I snapped this with my iPhone while driving down the road.

Stopped by this today site today at lunch. Looks like they removed 2 cabinets and replaced it with this single cabinet. I don't have any before pix, but Google Maps clearly shows two before. This site also has Clear on it too (its the cabinets in the back).

The tower still looks the same.

Awesome!! I figured that was going to be one of the first ones as was one of the first permits for Columbus pulled. I actually stopped by this tower a few weeks ago. Then I stopped in a really scary gas station by it after.

    Keep us updated!

  11. Been following this thread for awhile and feel compelled to leave a message. I've heard from a good source that lte will not be in Columbus until 2014 but to expect revamped 3G first. Can anyone counter that?

I'm not sure we have any information to counter it per se, but it is typical of a lot of markets to upgrade 3G first then turn on LTE. I really have a hard time believing they wouldn't fire up the LTE network however - but that remains to be seen.

  12.

My tower is down in Granville, OH right now. It's been down since about 1700 yesterday. No voice or data being broadcasted.

Was hoping there doing upgrades but prolly not working on the weekend...

Did your tower ever come back?

  13. Nope, the big problem now is the Ice. It's too cold for salt to work and we don't use cinders. How are the roads in Columbus, I'm heading that way in a few hours.

Yuck! Roads are clean down here - just frickin cold. 10 Degrees right now. But hey, high of 21 today. Spring has sprung.
