It's been under deployment for 10-12 months. It didn't stop because the merger closed a week ago. All the equipment already purchased will be deployed. They are working through NV deployment plans for TD-LTE now. It will probably be a few months before new integrated sites start work.Robert from Note 2 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Just out of curiosity, do you think you'll be notified of the TD-LTE accepted sites like you are of the current LTE sites? Perhaps a totally different system though.

At least Granville is getting a lot of love.
All of the 6000 people there are happy now. Now on to west side!

We've been seeing a lot of 3G acceptances on http://www.s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/3913-Network-Vision-Site-Acceptance-Report-Updates. I know this can seem not as much of progression as 4G but consider this many of the 3G accepted sites probably have all the NV upgrades complete just needing backhaul. Which is minor work once started. Sent from my SPH-L900 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
I agree. Just a matter of time before the crews work towards the metro area. I've seen a lot of sites with backhaul in the metro area.

what I'm saying does it have a microwave backhaul, radomes... Every Clearwire WiMAX has two things planning and two different directions. did you notice that? if not then its fiber to the site
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2
I looked at the site a few weeks ago. Pretty confident it was fiber (didn't see microwave on Sprints rack).
-
That's cool, but what's AAV backhaul?
Basically, backhaul that's not provided by the local phone company (or microwave).
-
Stopped by the tower on 33 & US42 (on way to Marysville). The RRUs were mounted, new cabinets down and even had Time Warner Business Class box on inside of fence with fiber ran to it. Everything looks good to me but who knows what's inside the cabinets.
There was a couple other towers accepted in the Marysville area so maybe just missing something small here. Also, this appears the first sign of AAV backhaul that I'm aware of. TWC does have a fiber ring in the area.

Fun post for Saturday:
I stopped and looked at a Sprint site today which is a tall monopole with some other carriers in it. Anyway, today is beautiful outside with blue sky with huge white clouds flying by. Standing near the base of the tower, it made the tower look like it was swaying back and forth. Made it very difficult to even look at the antennas on the tower!
-
yes, my wife works at the brewery, they just completed their nextel replacement the friday before nextel shutdown (A-B is exclusive sprint/) and had their whole nextel repeater network upgraded to CDMA/NV. LTE not on yet, but mostly this tower provides service internal to the A-B property/buildings.
Free samples please!

These towers don't show up on any of the in progress threads or on the permit treads, but they all have new cabinets and I am able to pull 1-2 Mbs down consistently on them. Why aren't they showing up anywhere? The fact the speeds have improved so much is a good indication that work is being done. New cabinets, new panels, but no new fiber runs. Any ideas?
I searched the permits and found one of them at least. It's not an exact science finding the permits for these towers as some are in municipalties that don't have online permit search capability. Add some pics to the In Progress thread to get credit for finding them though!

Come on Robert or thenight....
Where's our announcement of more lte being accepted
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 4 Beta
We had another 3G accepted in the market yesterday - it was inside the loop.

Drove down 71S today (wife wanted to spend money at Jeffersonville outlet mall) and saw at least 2 towers on way down with new cabinets and RRUs. Couldn't snap pics at 70 mph but nice to see some other progress in the overall market.

Not sure if this has been shared before but cool pictures of unique/ugly cell towers in disguise.

We need to see the LTE Engineering screen. Everything else is pointless unfortunately.

Unfortunately, I didn't even know to pull it up even as I was riding and my phone dinged that an LTE signal was discovered.. Figured someone can remember to do it if they drive by, just thought I'd give a heads up
It's likely the only site active on Morse. Someone reported signal from it on 23 & Lazzelle. It has a solid range.

Goes back to my question earlier.. If backhaul was ready, they'd be launching LTE at the same time. So if 200 3G upgrades are scheduled, and only around 30 LTE (all outside of the outerbelt), then they must be having backhaul delays.
I understand launching 3G in pockets. I don't understand why they wouldn't launch LTE at the same time if backhaul was ready at the site.
Doesn't make sense to me either. Must be some backhaul issues in these rural sites IMHO.

Yea, I lost it shortly there after traveling north. That's why I figure it's the same one. I actually connected to it at 270 and 71 for a minute.

Digiblur provided these directions for your Nexus:
Galaxy Nexus
Open the dialer and dial *#*#DEBUG#*#*
Enter 777468 (Sprint) for the lock code
Select LTE Engineering
Serving Cell is the site and RSRP shown in dBm is your LTE signal strength.

There will be no tower at a time turning on. According to my source there will be several clusters (areas) turning on at different times throughout the month. It may not be exactly what you guys are wanting to hear but I caan't share any more than that.
That isn't the way it works nor has it been like that in any market. I do not see that changing now and there really isn't any point to it. That would be going backwards at this point on the rollout.
I would assume what he meant was that 3G upgrades would be accepted and implemented in clusters which is true. I agree it doesn't make sense for LTE of course.
-
Just setup a GPS repeater system. Simple.
Ok so kidding of course. Who knows how much that would cost. Interesting product however. Not sure of the real world use for this.

It is common knowledge at least on this board that 3G has to be accepted in clusters. I think we are all just excited to hear specific 4G LTE implementation plans. But that being said thank you for any information you can share.

Folks its going to be a VERY interesting month for the Columbus market. I have a very reliable source on when and what towers are going live this month providing the dates don't get pushed out for some reason.

Reflashed my EVO lte radios, still no lte for me... Going to do full reset tomorrow and test tomorrow evening, I want to get in on this lte sweetness... This some bs!

Man that sucks. What's plan B if it never comes through?
Flash back to stock and try to warranty swap... Hopefully to another phone, anything with a better lte radio.

That's too bad the Evo name was tarnished with that phone (at least on S4GRU). My first Android phone was HTC Hero then on to the Evo 4g. I loved the Evo but decided to try out an iPhone for the first time ever (got an ipad2 for a gift and had to try it in phone version). I still have the Evo 4g in case I lose/drop the iphone.
Never understood how people get so worked up on the ios vs android argument. I've had both and liked both. Just happened to have iphone this upgrade - who knows what will happen next.
Sorry to digress off Columbus LTE talk. Get a working phone! Good luck.

I was on Roberts then 270 S yesterday for lunch and Sensorly didn't pick up LTE.It's possible it's the same tower as Morse, but please use Sensorly to Map it and use the LTE Engineering screen to identify the tower.

I work near Roberts and haven't seen a signal either. I wonder if they were testing a tower and that's why it briefly showed on his phone. Who knows at this point
I was driving around Dublin today near 161 and saw a lot of towers upgraded. I think it's only a matter of time guys before it really lights up.

Why would you report in the previous post you had LTE on west side then write one right after saying Morse is the only site? Are you confused sir?

My phone showed 4g in place of the 3g but by the time I noticed and tried to access anything tgat required data my phone just hung then south of roberts on 270 4g went away 3g came back on
Strange.
