  1. I HAD to drive up to Morse Rd area this afternoon to test the LTE.  Way out of my way but totally worth it.

Only had a few minutes to play around with but followed Digiblur's advise and took a screen shot of the Field Test.  Wasn't able to get all three vectors but this is what I found:

    Physical Cell ID:  203

    Cell Identity: 140556802

This was from an iPhone 5.  Let's all compare what Cell ID# we see over the next few days and confirm that it's just one tower (which is likely is).

  2. I think multiple sites are being fired up. There is purple in North Gahanna.

Either that or the confirmed tower has one hell of a reach.  Digiblur said he's seen towers go 10 miles.  I suppose with no hills in Columbus that's very possible?

  3. I'm getting 4G. Thought I'd help relieve some the teeth gnashing on this site. I ran a speed test. Gave you my results. I'm not postiing screen shots. I'm not downloading my PRL to my encrypted work pc. You can believe me or not. I don't care either way

Hey I believe you. Thanks for the report.

  4. Speaking my own opinion only. I don't see a delay or it taking too long. It's a situation of us knowing "too much" of what's going on in the markets. Some like to compare the Sprint LTE buildout to other carriers, but we have no clue how long prior to announcement those carriers started work.

Also, as Previously stated, this is a COMPLETE network rebuild, not just replacing cards and panels. I still believe you can hold Sprint to the 2013 timeline. At least for Columbus. It's June 23rd, not December 31st, 11:59PM.

Folks, no disrespect to you, but you chose the red pill of S4GRU.com. You should have took the blue one of ignorance.

Lol. Sometimes I wish I took the blue ignorance pill too. But then without S4GRU forums, what would I do at work? Work? No thanks.

My two cents as well - I've seen quite a few sites with fiber. Now, who knows what stage that is. Whether its just the fiber to the street waiting for street to actual backbone or not. I think the rollout seems to be moving along just fine. Of course we all wish it was simple and faster but there's a lot of moving parts to this that I'm sure we don't even all understand.

  5. Went for a drive last night around the Southeast Side, then drove around the South side this morning. I placed what I've found in a KMZ file and labelled each site with NV, EVDO-A or ERHPD.

    KMZ File here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/x93wgtp0d5agllw/Sprint%20Cells%20CMH.kmz

What I've discovered is that a lot of sites are showing on the phone as EVDO-A and fewer are showing ERHPD. The sites listed in the KMZ as NV have the ugly hung 2 RRU devices on them.

I'm curious how fast the speedtest comes back on the EVDO-A locations vs. the ERHPD locations.

Cool - What do you mean by NV site?  A site that looks upgraded to you?

  6.

so if 370 of 398 need upgraded, that means they are 7% complete right?

Ill have to double check but to my knowledge there has been zero ethernet run to any of the columbus sites. The difference is roughly 30 sites will have a microwave backhaul and not a direct connection. There is a good image in a thread on backhaul that shows conduit run to the cabinents marked fiber, and conduit coming from the ground with a pull string just waiting for the fiber to come and be pulled thru.

We have seen multiple sites in Columbus with the fiber ran to the tower. Now, whether or not it's actually connected is another story completely.

  7. That totally makes no sense but good for them. Might as well have been Ostrander. I'm sure there will be Columbus sites coming up soon since they've slapped up some NV gear. I took some pics with my SLR and shared them in my Dropbox here:

I'll place my bet on the last region to get it and that's far southeast Columbus because I am certain Sprint wants to extend my agony. :)

The tower on 104 is the one that I'm on at home. Can anyone tell by looking at his Dropbox photos if those two smaller cabinets are the new ones for NV? I'm hoping so cause service sucks over here.

Yes, the left two cabinets are the new Samsung cabinets.

  8.

Did you guys see Sandusky had 13 accepted 3G sites? First things accepted in Ohio.

I'm apparently blind... Where are you seeing the accepted sites? I was checking the NV Sites completed website and don't see anything for Ohio. Thank you in advance.

It was just posted in one of the Cleveland threads. that's the market Sandusky is in.

  9. Sprint is trying to be funny. They keep sending out these news letters talking about LTE coming soon. In every city on Ohio except columbus. Dayton, Cleveland etc. Makes me so mad.

Did you guys ever notice Columbus OH is not even listed on the drop down list on the network.sprint.com 'what's happening in your neighborhood' list?

At least we know the market is being worked on. Just nothing completed and accepted yet.

  10. Saw some guys working on the site out off Alton Darby creek road (hilliard). They were wiring up fiber from the street to the tower. Some guys were inside the fenced area. Didn't spot new panels but couldn't get a good look for the cabinets. Sprint only site.

  11. Mount Vernon , bellefontaine, and Marion will be getting lots of love too it appears.

My advice is at the end of the month everybody fire up there mapping apps and start charting. Should be fun to watch.

Your advice failed us!  Any update from your source?

  12. Wish we knew what the hell was going on in Columbus.. Tons of work but no LTE anywhere yet.

I know. I keep thinking we are so close yet so far away. Hey that's a song!

I went to the Memorial tournament this weekend. Data was useless. At least I had free beer to keep me happy.

  13. As long as you are not pulling the ID from the backend sponsor area then it's fine. Site ID are public information after all as they're posted at the cell site.

You are fine. Robert and the mods have said you can quote site ids as long as you cite the source as the actual tower.

No need to get worked up fellas.

  14. I'd rather not say but its reliable. Feel free to speculate on my source, if you dig around enough on the forums you may be able to figure it out. I'd trust me ;)

Fair enough but your first post here said Columbus isn't getting LTE until 2014. Just making sure we aren't getting bad information..

  15. Haha I tried to delete a post but couldn't figure it out. Good news tho, the next 90 should be pretty eventful for our 400ish towers in the Columbus market. Lots of new NV augments, 1900 MHz 3g, and 1900/800 MHz 4g.

Is this speculation or do you have a source? I would expect the same with the level of activity we have seen compared to other markets as well.
