  1. I also notice that sprints LTE is better on LTE only mode on the nexus 5. Sprints towers will cut you down from a LTE signal even if its usable to unusable 3g often if you hit -120dbm. Yes I have seen -120dbm provide 2-3mbps on LTE. Im just glad the csfb issues are over. I was going batshit.

Terrell, you know you're the only person on this entire forum that replies to posts and puts your response on top of the quoted part of the post (as opposed to directly underneath it).

    Drives me crazy.

    That is all  :)

  2. In honor of the MLB All-Star game tonight, I bring you the first installment of the S4GRU All-Star standings (based on "Like" to post average):

    • WiWavelength 1.694
    • kyle_4thousand 1.673
    • S4GRU 1.647
    • tommym65 1.469
    • mikejeep 1.334
    • topdownat4 1.315
    • The Dave 1.158
    • kineticman 1.138
    • mrrogers1 1.091
    • Mr.Nuke 1.038
In a surprising surge up the standings, kyle_4thousand has moved into second place, ahead of even the prolific site admin. How exciting to see such an underdog vie for the Silver Poster title.

Eligibility is based on a minimum of 300 post "appearances." Otherwise, 2fastkuztoms, for example, would have made the standings. So, get posting, everyone.

In a shameless attempt to raise my rankings, and raise money for the website, if this post gets "25 likes", I'll donate $25 to the website. And, to sweeten the pot, I'll double the amount if AJ likes this post as well!

Get clickin' on "Like This" to keep the lights on!

***EDIT***     And that was quick!  45 minutes and I've reached 25 likes.  No "like" from AJ yet, so let's all give him until tomorrow to see if we can break his stubborn streak of NO LIKE policy.

*** EDIT AGAIN ***   The skies have parted and AJ has liked the post and so did many others.  Thanks for the support of the website.  I'm a man of my word - donation on the way!

  3. Just an average day downtown, with an amazing -60db 3g signal and not being able to transfer enough data to open google...it's getting old.

Any word on if the capacity downtown is going to be addressed?

Hang in there - major cluster launch for rest of town last night/today. Downtown is last but almost all sites confirmed done. We are estimating next week or week after for downtown.

  4. For those of using iOS how can we see when we are connected to 800?

Get into Field Test mode and look at 1x.   If the "System ID" is 5 digits and starts with "22", then you are on 800.  You can't be connected to LTE to look at the 1x screen though (you can disable in Settings/Cellular).

  5. My parents are coming in from Florida for Memorial Day weekend. So it will likely be around June 1st that normalcy will resume. Thank you for everyone's patience with me. It's been a rough few months personally.

They have flying machines that go into SD? I thought it was only pony express out there?

  6. There is a tower right next to my apartment in Grandview, mounted on the spotlights for the football field. I've pulled 2.6 MB down on 3G on it before only because its so close. I called sprint and asked them when it will be upgraded and they said not until July. I don't know if they meant July is the official launch date or the actual date the tower will be upgraded though. Sigh.

Also, I'm kind of new to this site, what is the differences between the three LTE bands sprint is using and does the iphone 5 support all three of them?

Let us know when you see progress on that site! We are all anxious like you.

    Iphone 5 only supports B25.

    5s/5c supports B25 and B26.

b41 isn't yet supported by apple - it likely will in newest phone.

B25 is the 1900mhz lte band - most common. B26 is 800mhz and similar to b25 in bandwidth but has better propagation characteristics (will likely travel further).

B41 has the most bandwidth - ie a 'bigger highway' and will amazing when it's fully deployed. We have some in Columbus already.

  7. Pretty descent weather all week but no climbers located on any towers in Columbus. Either a delay or done and waiting for launch

I did see one crew on a tower converting from GMO to full build. But other than that, all is quiet. I suspect there is a hold up on the roof top sites and holding up the rest of construction.

  8. Hey folks,

I haven't been around here much lately, but tried looking around and didn't find what I'm looking for, so maybe someone can offer some input...

I went to Best Buy last week and did a pre-order for the new HTC ONE M8.  They still haven't gotten the device in, and I haven't given them any money yet.  I've been bummed it was gonna take so long to get my hands on it, but maybe that was actually better.

I was reading some reviews about the device on a few Android related sites and noticed people talking about missing calls/texts on Sprint.  It is most likely that Circuit Switched FallBack thing.  So my question is, does anyone have a Spark compatible device, and are you having any issues in the West Michigan area?

If this is going to be an issue, I might need to back out before I go any further into this transaction.  I've already been a bit ticked off at the idea of losing simultaneous voice and data (even though I know that puts me in the minority around here, because for some reason most people just seem to think that's no big deal, just get used to it, well I for one will really miss that)  But, if I have to disable the high speed data and go to CDMA only mode just to make sure I can get calls and texts to work properly, I'd probably be better off just to run my EVO LTE until it goes dark.

Any input about the status of the Fallback system in the West Michigan area, or if anyone has had problems with it would be appreciated.

Bruce, I can't help you but just wanted to drop a note saying welcome back to the forums.  I always enjoyed following the West Michigan deployment when it was happening.

  9. I'll look tonight. If the RRU's are already mounted at ground level, then this would be a GMO site, which I'm hoping against. I'm wondering if you were seeing them routing the cables from the boxes that AT&T ran for the fiber there.

GMO isn't necessarily a bad thing if they can do full build with 1900 lte.
