Hopefully, there's a deeper issue going on that nobody knows about yet. Maybe they're turning down the power on sites and testing 800 LTE in certain clusters around the market. I know when that goes live, they have to increase the fiber speed at sites. Maybe this is causing some kind of issue. It would be great if we could get some kind of knowledgable response from sprint instead of their bs, generic, canned responses. Most people on this forum know more about sprints network than sprint csr which is why I don't even bother calling to complain.

It's almost like some LTE sites are live with out backhaul in place. I'm not sure that's even possible because I was under the assumption that LTE only goes live when the upgraded connection is in place. There are so many places where I'd love to have the old legacy equipment in place for a "speed boost." Chicago has always been sprints biggest problem city and I think they jumped the gun with the marketing department to try and get back on a level playing field with the other carriers as quickly as possible. Some things as far as speed just don't make sense. Like when I'm driving to work, right at my exit on the Stevenson I'll get 200-400kbps, then when I get to work (which is the same tower, just on the other side, and presumably a different sector) I have a VERY usable 20mbps connection.

I also think some of the huge coverage gaps/slow speeds during the day are attributed to cellular breathing. A guaranteed daily stretch of I-55 where I get 3G/1X and speeds

What is ebs/brs?

But the USCC shutdown doesn't happen until January, right? How long does it take sprint to implement that spectrum past that point? Does adding spectrum require site visits? Or can it be added remotely.

I never understood the allure of a removable battery and why it's constantly causing arguments amongst the android faithful. I already hate carrying stuff around with me all day. I wouldn't want a battery in my pocket "just in case." It's so much easier to just have a car charger in my vehicles, and wall chargers in a few spots of my house. I've never had a problem.

It's almost an all or nothing scenario, and it definitely feels like a capacity issue. When I'm at my house out in the burbs, I can consistently, night or day, pull 20mbps on a speedtest off my tower. Once I hit the highway towards Chicago, the speeds just decrease the closer I get. Still some 3G/1X pockets on I-55 between Harlem and Lagrange, and when I'm working downtown, speeds are always less than 1mbps, causing web pages not to load, and pandora to constantly buffer, until off-peak hours (usually around 2am) speeds "sky rocket" up to 1-3mbps.

Glad it's not only me. For a market that is almost finished, it's pretty horrid. I'm hoping it's related to some kind of market-wide work being done. Otherwise, we're in trouble. Maybe 800 LTE work?

Does anyone know if there could be something on sprints end that would be causing horrific speeds in Chicago on my end? I drive a truck in the city for a living and can really never get above .5mbps download night or day. Basically unusable at times for navigation and music streaming. Is this just the nature of sprints new network paired with their strained spectrum in this city? Does anyone else experience this?

Information about S4GRU Sponsorship levels and how to become a Sponsor
Vince replied to S4GRU's topic in Important Threads
If I upgrade to premier, is there information for 800 LTE rollout a to specific sites? What about information regarding if a site has had backhaul upgrades? Thanks. -
Question about TRI Band and LTE Deployment
Vince replied to glenavo34's topic in Network, Network Vision/LTE Deployment
I just want 800 LTE in Chicago already. I have my iPhone 5s waiting for it. I check field test all the time. I would love to be the forum guinea pig for what is more than likely going to be the first 800 LTE market. Does anyone know if there is a way to force bc26 or to scan for it? Probably not from an iphone, just thought I would ask. -
I was actually visiting friends in belvedere. We drove all around that town. 3G everywhere except the center of town, that had a little LTE showing up. And very slow 3G. Pages wouldn't load, speed tests timed out. I know Rockford is pretty well covered. Belvedere, not so much.

Just got done driving from the Chicagoland area to Rockford. Data was basically unusable all the way from Hoffman estates to basically Rockford. I even dropped a few calls. Not good. Anyone else experience this horribly long stretch of I-90?

Touché. But, my fingerprint security basically renders the device useless for anyone but me.

Cool. Now when I get my iPhone stolen on the red line, at least I'll have LTE.

So what will dictate connecting to smr LTE? Is it always being searched for, and just connects when it's available? Or is something pushed from sprint to devices.
