  1. Going from a 5 to a 5s, I'm noticing that in the same exact areas I always travel to, my 5s is losing LTE easier, and taking a lot longer to return to LTE from 3G (sometimes needs an airplane toggle). Do we know anything about this new sprint iPhone 5s prl (20989)? I wonder if band 26 is listed. I'm pretty sure the priority order will be 1900-800. I'm wondering if the new prl is telling the phone, "connect to 1900 signal, then 800 when 1900 gets weak, if no 800, then 3G." Since 800 LTE hasn't launched in Chicago (although it should any day now) maybe that's why I'm holding 3G for so much longer. Just a thought.
  2. I'm in the Chicago burbs and just received my 5s in the mail. PRL is 20989, too
  3. I was reading this article, and I'm having a hard time deciphering the second and third paragraphs. Can someone with more technical knowledge of frequencies and chipsets further explain this? Thanks. http://www.forbes.com/sites/chuckjones/2013/09/25/china-mobile-and-lte-bands-when-could-apple-announce-a-partnership/
  4. When the other companies got rid of unlimited, there was definitely a heads up. You'll know beforehand if and when unlimited goes away. It doesn't happen overnight.
  5. Apple really screwed the pooch by not offering a pre order on the 5s. I don't get the point of waiting at the store with a bunch of people. With the preorder, I would get it on launch day just like the people in tents outside. So what if I don't get it at 8am. I'd get it around noon. This year, I'm guessing with an online order on Friday, I could probably have it early next week. Good enough.
  6. That map doesn't seem very accurate. I have a whole cluster of towers near my house, not a single mark on the map.
  7. The lack of b41 sucks for me. Being in Chicago, I'm told I have luscious clear wire LTE floating around me and am unable to use it.
  8. A few of you are missing the point with questions regarding cases and screen protectors. I've never seen a screen protector that covers the home button. Shouldn't be an issue since, based on the videos, the sensor works by a single touch, and not a swiping motion. And, the latest otterbox defenders will probably even have a missing home button area.
  9. Is there a word on when Chicago 800 LTE gets activated? Are we one of the first markets?
  10. I have a question: I'm in Chicago and was curious about the 2600 LTE. Chicago is on that list of 8 cities. What towers are capable of this? Is it on the nv towers or clear towers? And what kind of area is it spread over here? How do I even know its live without a triband hotspot? Is there somewhere I can check 2600 coverage online? Thanks
  11. Just out of curiosity: will there be some adjustments to a tower signal, in regards to power levels? The reason I ask is because driving near known nv towers marked as 3G/4G/800, the difference of a few hundred feet is differentiating between full, 5 lte bars, 20mbps, the next second, 2-3 lte bars and 3-6mbps. You almost have to be on top of a tower to get full lte signal.
  12. So each panel, 1 per side has approx 120 degrees of coverage?
  13. Tower XXXXXXXXX in DuPage county along I-55 marked: 3G/4G/800 What am I looking at here? NV with a legacy rack below it? Still kind of new to tower spotting. Took some time today on my day off to photograph 3 nearby fully-completed towers. Thanks, guys Edit: sorry for the picture orientation, I'm on my phone and can't figure out why it's posting sideways.
  14. You all got me nervous to go downtown now. Here I was thinking that the loop would at least have decent lte blanketed throughout, and would only be filling in the holes at this point. Sprints lte on sensorly looks denser than verizon in the city albeit darker purple (stronger).
  15. Also the 47th street area. The tower on 47th and California is fast as well. Sprint, keep up the good work
  16. The area I drive in nightly is the I-55/I-94 corridor. Like from midway airport to sox park. Signal is great. Haven't ventured in to the loop yet.
  17. Really loving my newly acquired sprint lte. I live one block from a 3G/4G/800 tower. Speeds are 29/10 day and night outside and in my apartment. I drive around Chicago in a truck for a living. Average speed during my several day test period is about 12/5. Latency is averaging 40-70ms. Some places as low as 3/2 with full LTE signal. Backhaul not in place?
  18. The racetrack should have excellent coverage and LTE. After all, they do have a sprint cup series race there.
  19. This might be an obvious yes, but, will boost and virgin phones also be benefiting from faster 3G and better voice quality with these NV upgrades?
  20. Wow. Huge updates to our market this week. This is good to see. Sprints progress is quite impressive.
  21. You're correct. It's for new customers/line upgrades. Wish they'd make the iPhone 5 $50 :/
  22. But like the previous person wrote: are the calls any more reliable and texts coming instantly through the new nv towers?
  23. It's so hard to leave Verizon (also my predicament right now) to join a carrier with growing pains. But, a brand new network and unlimited LTE is a huge allure.
  24. There seems to be a huge area lacking LTE in the south suburbs. Almost untouched and barely a spot of purple in sensorly. I know it's crowd sourced so it could be complete coincidence but I also only notice 2 completed nv towers in a large area. I wonder why it's neglected this far. The area in referring to is bordered by I-55 to the north, I-355 to the west, I-80 to the south and i-294 to the east with the epicenter being Orland park/Palos park. Any ideas?
  25. This NV upgrade process has consumed me. I find myself craning my neck at every tower to check the panels. It's a new hobby while driving
