  1. Band 41 is great when you're connected. Once that is widespread, Sprint will charge ahead like an angry bull. It really is the key differentiator.
  2. So basically, if I'm ever connected to channel 575 on evdo or LTE, then I'm on the refarmed spectrum. Plus, LTE will show the earfcn of 8625 correct?
  3. Run a speedtest, see if it's wide open. Then maybe airplane toggle and try to get back on a different channel, and run a speedtest. Compare results. To the more knwedgable: can channel 575 be shared between evdo and LTE? Not sure how this works.

I used ioroot21 and placed the file in /cache/fota , booted into recovery, selected file and installed. Took maybe 10 minutes.

I wasn't waiting. I loaded it myself. It was really quite easy.

Random, eh? The white and black g2's in my local sprint store both had an available update when I checked on Tuesday. Damn 1%'ers.
  7. I've been seeing this issue on my g2. It loses LTE and never comes back without a toggle. My iPhone will lose LTE but get it back in a few minutes on it's own. This is near Chicago, too.
  8. Given the fact that you found a uscc evdo carrier, and that this has been in the works since November 2012, I'm willing to bet the necessary carrier cards are already installed. Is it separate site hardware for an lte carrier and an evdo carrier? Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk
  9. So you're saying this new spectrum is already in use on Sprint on the evdo side. Think it's there on lte and we just have to find it? I just disabled lte to check evdo engineering and was situated on channel 725. Lte still on 8665/26665. I'll keep checking throughout the day. How widespread will this spectrum addition be? Only in the city? Market wide? Or, tower by tower basis. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk
  10. That is very good news. I expected Sprint to take their sweet time with the shutdown. Hopefully they have a sense of urgency with adding some capacity to their own network. What should I be looking for to tell if they added an additional carrier? Anything in signal check or in the engineering screens? Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk

Uh oh. I think AJ just felt that post from wherever he is. He'll be here shortly to correct you. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk
  12. And no. Sponsor maps don't show specific coverage of areas. Just towers. Like Robert said, disregard Sprint maps. Sensorly is still your best coverage tool especially since so many s4gru users have mapped massive amounts of cities. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk
  13. Oakbrook, more specifically has basically one tower to serve a massive stretch of business and dozens of high rise office buildings along butterfield between Meyers and Midwest roads. It's a matter of capacity not coverage. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk

That's great information to know. And it makes sense. Thanks, Robert. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk

Oddly enough, where I was at was a site that is always fast. Usually 10mbps plus. There are a few consistently fast sites in Chicago, despite the spectrum crowding. The site next to the Chicago ddc/toy is another consistent blazing fast site. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk

This is true, weak 41 can be faster than strong 25. Upload dies at that range and I saw speeds like 17 down, and a choppy, borderline timing out 1-2 up. I just was wondering why it wouldn't take the 25 signal if I'm so close to it that I can hit it with a rock. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk

The threshold for switching down to band 25 has me a little concerned. Last night, I visited two places almost next to a 25 tower, but my g2 was holding on to a nearby 41 signal at -114dBm. I wonder if this can be changed. Data was still usable, upload was a little shaky at that range, but nonetheless, it worked. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk
  18. Unfortunately, I don't go indoors much in Chicago. I'm a truck driver, so I'm constantly moving throughout the south side. I spend my off days near my home in the western burbs where there is really zero band 41, but 25 is excellent mostly everywhere I go (except oakbrook). I have to use my phone to look up locations and get directions every night while at my terminal near 47th and Pulaski. Typical speeds there are a pathetic 100kbps, and it takes forever to do this every night. Last night was my first night with triband, and I was cruising along at 17mbps with -111dBm (wow). The way 41 performs with weak signal at cellular edge is very impressive, and even more impressive with good signal. If you're near a 41 tower, it should work ok inside a building. And btw, I'm not made of money either, but this g2 was 0 down, 21/month which is fine because I saved 60/month by having a framily of 10. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk
  19. It has made a world of difference for me. Now I get blazing speeds at work AND home. Excellent. I ditched my Apple loyalty for triband and it was kind of worth it. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk

I would love to submit a report, but can someone tell me the menu code to get to the lte only option? Thanks. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk
  21. Yes. The g2 is a triband device, so 26 is also there. Chicago has no 26 yet. This test was done 1 block, clear line of sight to a 41 tower. All night long, everywhere i drive throughout the southside, speeds were in the 20-50mbps range. I haven't detached from 41 since i got to work. To have working data again is absolutely fantastic, and i'm more than thrilled now. Yes and yes. My last name should have given that away. I was in a secured rail yard inside my truck, thankfully. 22. Got my spark update on my g2, and this is what I got sitting in my truck in Cicero. This is one happy Sprint customer. I can finally use data where pcs data was failing me. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk

Good call. This is exactly the case. Spinning is send/receive, not spinning is active, and gray idle. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk

I, too, am seeing an automatic switch over to band 41. While driving to work, I had it on the lte engineering screen and the switch was fluid. One question regarding the new lte/spark logo: what does it mean when it turns gray? Is that representing an idle connection? I'm seeing it constantly. Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk
