  1. They said they don't have any antennas pointing directly towards my location, but they were able to make marginal improvements.

If you become a sponsor here, you'll see where every Sprint tower is located, and based on the intersection you provided earlier, I can kind of the see the issue you're experiencing. That's fantastic how they sent people to your house to diagnose the problem, and I've personally starting seeing a few Ericson trucks around the area for the first time ever. A few of my dead zones have been slightly improving, so maybe they're finally tuning some sites. Also, that's great news about her acknowledging the problem with HD voice and wifi calling not playing nicely together. That needs to be fixed.

  2. Pretty sure my LTE experience following this new bundle took a dive. Dropped a lot of LTE today compared to yesterday. Not happy about it at all.

I noticed the same problem on my 6+ yesterday after updating. Here we go again.

  3. So I got my iPhone 6 replaced at the Apple Store last weekend as I was having some issues with signal reception and GPS locking. I've noticed that I have yet to connect to B41 on my replacement. I realized today that they gave me the Verizon model A1549 instead of the Sprint model A1586... Everything works fine except I do not have the ability to connect to B41. Has anyone had this problem before? Do you think Apple will be able to swap my current phone for the Sprint variant?

I also think that since it's a Verizon model that it may be unlocked, so I could probably sell it and get a 6s. (Better resale value)

    Any thoughts?

That's because the Verizon model doesn't even support band 41. You should go back and tell Apple they gave you the wrong model. They should be able to see you brought in a Sprint version.

  4. Does anyone else have a really high bill after upgrading on the iPhone for Life plan? Sprint.com says that I owe upwards of $1000. I Contacted Sprint chat and they said that I'm being charged an 'accelerating fee' to upgrade early. I thought the whole point of the iPhone for Life Plan is to upgrade whenever there is a new iPhone available...

Most of us do. Mine went from normal, to $600, to $1024 in a few days for 1 line/iPhone 6+. It's collateral for the device you have that you need to return.

  5. Apparently, the baseband inside my new phone got toasted (according to Apple support). I was at home last night when my phone went to "No Service." I tried to restore on several different computers, and it won't finish installing without an error. Looks like I have to swap out my phone on Saturday. :/

  6. No way to check. just run a speed test and if it's over 80mbps then you kind of know it's CA.

With my iPhone 6 my speeds on band 41 (2.5 aka spark) was 50-60mbps now with my iPhone 6s Plus I average around 70-90 Mbps

    My highest was 101mbps!!

Carrier aggregation does not mean greater than 80 Mb per second. You can be on carrier aggregation and be less than 80 Mb per second. All you need to know is if your connected tower has two band 41 carriers. If it does, you will be aggregating carriers

  7. Yeah. Thanks guys. I went ahead and set up an appointment for Saturday evening (the earliest one they had!).

I will probably get added to a wait list until a replacement comes in, but it will be nice knowing that it is on the way. This is my first ever issue with an Apple device. I heard they are pretty open to admitting defects, no matter how small, but it is good to hear some reassurance from you two.

I don't think there's a wait list. I was told once by a genius that Apple stores get a separate stock for replacements.

  8. Yeah, now I see it, too. Apple has the best warranty service in the business, and there's no such thing as being picky about a dark spot on your $900 phone. Go have it swapped out. I'd make the appointment online, as they're probably slammed this time of year.

  9. So my new 6s Plus has arrived. This is the first time I am coming from having a previous iPhone. Do you guys usually set it up as a new iPhone or use iCloud and restore? Any issues with restoring from iCloud? I like the idea of a fresh start, but the ease of letting it set it up exactly as it was definitely has its perks.

I do a fresh build every iOS, so I had my fresh one ready for the new phone. But, as long as your backup matches os versions you're fine. I ran a backup on my 6/9.01, powered up the 6s, skipped through all the setup crap, setup as new phone just to get to the home screen, then did an update to 9.0.1. Finished that, factory reset to get back to setup, then I restored the backup.

Edit: I have zero problems with the restore, and zero lag.

  10. Thanks. Wifi calling is on my plan, but no way to remove it from online. I read something about this too. I turned on wifi calling when I first got my phone, but then turned it off. I followed someone else steps to turn on, then on the update address section disable it from there and then to ##update#.

Now I need to call my wife an see if it's better. Is there any indication that HD voice is working other than better audio quality?

You certainly can delete it from your account right from your iPhone to restore HD calling: go to settings - phone - wifi calling, then "update emergency address." A webpage will pop up asking you to enter your address. Scroll to the bottom of that page to find "remove wifi calling service" (or something along those lines). After removing, your phone should automatically perform a profile refresh (you'll see your signal disappear and reappear). Dial a ##update# just to be sure. Do this on both phones.

Edit: I jumped the gun, and only read your first sentence. You need to do this on both phones, and you should be good to go. This is how I did it with my 2 lines, and it restored HD calling.

  11. Seems to come and go for me. Only way I know to confirm CA is just based on speeds. Haven't figured out what or if it shows in field test yet.

Edit. Nvm. Just checked field test. Shows 41176 for my DL frequency vs the 40*** it showed on my 6. At least on my home tower. Speeds in the 50's at my apartment now.

I'm really loving everything about this phone. Battery life on the plus is nuts. 6 hours use and 16 hours standby and I'm still at 41%. I was originally going to hold onto my 6 in case I had a change of heart on the size of the phone but after a day of use its already up on Craigslist. [emoji106]

The only sure fire way without a speed test is to see if you're on the second band 41 carrier EARFCN. If you're connected to carrier #2, you're on CA. You could be using CA if you see your market's original band 41 carrier EARFCN, but you'd need a speed test to verify that tower is aggregating with a second carrier.

  12. The way that's worded suggests to me that they think LTE 800 is already tuned and optimized properly. I hope that's not true though.

Yeah, I'm done worrying about it. I'm happy with my phone, my bill, and my service. If I drop to 3G, an airplane toggle doesn't bother me if I need high-speed data. I have fast speeds everywhere, hd voice, and my calls don't drop. I just think Sprint has the potential to really nail down this market and others with not only blazing speeds, but really strong LTE coverage with their low-band spectrum, too. They employ engineers for this stuff, and I'm quite sure they know what they're doing. I'm just a guy with an iPhone and an idea.

  13. Man, I just have to mention how happy I am with this phone. Everything about it is perfect so far. Every bug or stutter on iOS 9.0.1 is completely gone, and this thing runs smooth as butter. The RF performance is definitely better than the 6, and when I was out and about today, I didn't drop to 3G nearly as much as usual. 3D Touch is really cool, and I didn't think the fingerprint scanner could be this fast. It's scary fast. Like, can't even click the home button lightly and quickly without going right to the home page. It used to be click, thumb, wait. Plus, getting 80-100mbps on my couch is a plus. Great job, Apple.

  14. Anyone else having some trouble with the frequency band indicator in field test on the iPhone 6S? Mine reads 1091896336 as opposed to 25 or 41...attachicon.gif image.png

A few people have posted about this, and it looks like field test is absolutely f*cked. Like, bad. No band, no carrier bandwidth size, or TX antennas. Argh. Maybe I jinxed it on Thursday when I was wishing for Apple to finally fix field test.
