  1. I was driving through some new GPRS -> LTE areas (GMO LTE) on T-Mobile and with one iPad streaming HBO, an iPhone 6 streaming Netflix, my third device was able to speedtest 20Mbps down. I was thoroughly impressed.

Who was driving the car? [emoji6]

  2. How many carriers use spark?

Because that's what I am referring too.. I had no issues till they started the spark upgrades. The tri band technology and spark network is a sprint network and you know that. ...

Sprint is the only provider in America using TDD LTE (Spark). Everything/everyone else is FDD. Verizon's "XLTE" is just a fat swath of FDD in band 4, and T-Mobile "wideband" is the same. AT&T's largest spectrum license is (I believe) 10x10. They don't have that wide "pipe" like everyone else.

  3. I love you. lol Attempting now. It's going to suck restoring from iCloud on the hotel wifi, but I would rather have the phone restore for 3 hours than lose all my current settings and apps app data.

The general layout and settings usually load first. It's all the app restores that take forever.

  4. There's a new Tapatalk update right now. It's actually not bad. They've rearranged some things, and added a "compact card" mode to save space, and added a notification tab, which unfortunately, doesn't have a "mark all as read" option. I upgraded, and was hit with 176 notifications that had to be cleared one at a time.

    Edit:

Just a few notes: they appear to have removed the page swiping feature, which seems absolutely ridiculous to me. You have to scroll all the way down and hit the page arrow. Also, I'm getting a lag/stutter when typing occasionally. I think they're getting somewhere with this app, but we have a ways to go still.

  5. I just saw a new advertisement on one of those electronic billboards near O'Hare saying: "now #1 in data at the nations busiest airport." Along with some other text that I didn't get to read because it changed advertisements while passing. Probably something like "according to RootMetrics."

  6. http://newsroom.sprint.com/news-releases/mayor-emanuel-and-sprint-announce-more-than-300-jobs-and-major-infrastructure-investment-coming-to-chicago.htm

A very interesting article. Hundreds of new cell sites, and 115 new stores. Didn't Sprint just close a ton of our stores last year? It doesn't make sense.

"Chicago will be the first Sprint city upgraded to an even faster network with the deployment of LTE Advanced technologies. These faster speeds are expected to improve the performance of video and other bandwidth-intensive applications, including new generations of online gaming, virtual reality and advanced cloud services.

New cell sites will be located in neighborhoods throughout the city and include the areas around Rush University Medical Center, along Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) subway routes as part of the project to upgrade the wireless network in the City’s system, and areas surrounding Garfield Park."

  7. So I started by resetting all settings...no joy. Then I deleted all non-Apple apps...no change. Finally I wiped my phone (after burning 30GB data doing an iCloud restore) and set it up as a new phone. The sound issue persists. So I've just handed my phone back and now have TWO phones in for assessment and I sit with nothing (granted the first phone was my fault).

    This sucks.

Do you not live near an Apple Store? They would have swapped it out on the spot.

  8. Guys, I'm having an issue with sound in videos. Basically a lot of static and not much sound. I've tested the mic with the Voice Memo app and all good there. Any ideas?

I occasionally had a low volume issue, and then I discovered a fix. The Facebook app was causing some kind of interference with audio output. I'd be streaming Spotify or SiriusXM with the low volume, close Facebook, and the volume immediately returned to normal.

  9. Also, I'm sure most of you know about it, but the hidden option, buried in the settings menu to record video at 60fps. The videos that come out of that option are just insanely clear and smooth. It bothers me that you can't quick toggle it by clicking "60fps" in the video record mode. You can toggle this way between 120/240fps in slow-mo mode, but Apple decided to bury the other one. This bothers me. If you're not recording in 60 (settings-photos and camera-record video at 60fps), you're really missing out. They take up more storage, but well worth it.

iPhones in general have always been the best camera phones available. I've taken photos with most of today's Android flagships, and they just don't compare.

  11. Yesterday my iPhone 5S got damaged, and with the warranty swapout taking 7 days, I got a new iPhone 6 128GB.

Pretty quickly I noticed the quality control on the phone wasn't great? Where the aluminium band meets the glass it isn't seamless. It's as if the aluminium chipped while being cut. Pretty disappointed to see this. Anyone else?

They all have that gap. After "bend gate" was discovered, we quickly learned about "beard gate." That gap pinches the hairs off of your beard while on a phone call. I've had it happen, and it sort of hurts. Heh.

  12. Well here is my update to the coverage in Vegas....

Went to a show at the mirage, kitty corner to the flamingo where i was back in July, and when the signal SUCKED on strip...

Well that seems to have been fixed INSIDE, IN THE MIDDLE of the Mirage, and in the theater area, had 90s, signal and decent (8 down, in fact when it switched to 41, INSIDE, it dropped to like 5 lol)

But in building it was pretty awesome....

so while I havent walked all over on the strip.....at/in the mirage it was pretty dang good.....

oh out at the south pointe, its still kinda sketchy way inside, but on the 16th floor its ok....:lol::lol:

Sorry to quote such an old post, but I was just browsing the Vegas thread, and came across this. When I was in Vegas in September, inside the Mirage was the best service I had on the whole trip (I didn't really leave that area for 3 days--stayed in Ballys). They might have a DAS in there. LTE was fantastic, and I didn't want to leave because Ballys was 3G/1x/roaming the entire time.
