  1. I have Sprint executives working on a case with me about the iphone not switching bands properly. They're still working on it, but sent me an update today. It basically proves that bc10 was not being utilized, but since the prl update last night, it is now rocking and rolling. Good stuff here.

  2. PRL's do not change anything that have to do with LTE band priorities or LTE band switching. What is more than likely happening is when these 'PRL Updates' are released, Apple/Sprint are probably releasing some kind of update to the carrier package also and that update effects LTE band priorities/switching. That is most likely what is occurring. The PRL is just the public thing that we can see that is changing.

I doubt they would change the carrier bundle without updating the number. It's still at 18.0.

  3. wi

example: Driving into town I always had 3G and 5 minutes later when i got home it would switch to 4G. that was fine, but now now it detects 4G more often than and 3G on my way home. One thing I've noticed on the OLD PRL is that I would be on band 41/25, enter a building it would drop to 3G, and then about 5 minutes later it would switch to band 26.

Exactly. These phones are skipping right over band 26, and Sprint needs to fix that immediately. The less the average person sees "3G" on their phone, the better Sprint's reputation will be.

  4. FYI 8.3 beta 4 uses Carrier 19.0. It's a lot quicker/smoother changing bands now. I'm just happy "I finally" have 800 voice.

Do explain. What are you seeing? Less 3G and more band 26? I'm in an email conversation currently with Sprint executives and network engineers trying to get to the bottom of this.

  5. Same here now. Is this the original PRL we had were it would literally switch bands in seconds after detecting it.

I'm not sure. I can never find an accurate answer to whether or not a PRL controls LTE band switching. And yes, I've read our article on PRLs. I think the instant band switching was lost when we went from carrier 17.0 to 18.0 with one of the iOS releases.

  6. This is strange...So after I was told to remove my 6 plus from my account and keep it turned off for 48 hours. I put on old iPhone 5s on that line. I just happen to put a SIM card into that 5s and it's unlocked.

Try and put your plus back on the line. Maybe your line is being recognized as clear, finally, and is pulling down your eligible unlocks.

  7. They had to do that for me also but there's a disconnect with sprint and Apple when unlocking my 6+

The disconnect is their system has checks in place. Your line needs to be 100% free of installments/contractual obligation, and be in good standing, otherwise the tech pushes it through, and it never goes all the way through to Apple.

  8. With an iPhone, a domestic unlocks also works internationally, but an international unlock won't work domestically. My unlocking experience took 8 days, and at least 3 calls per day, with an occasional chat session until I worked my way up to some advanced tech support office in Atlanta. Once I had a supervisor's personal email and office phone number, I was unlocked 1 day after he got the case. Even though it's around 5 weeks old, it's still a new process, and every tech is working under a different process. Some know how, others put you on hold while they look it up. If they're submitting it, and it's not reaching Apple, then there's still a problem with their system. Be persistent. Try the international support chat and ask for a domestic unlock. If chatting, or calling from another phone, let them tell you it's unlocked, and tell them to hold on. Dial ##update#, and try a different sim. If you're asked for iCloud login, it worked. If you get "invalid sim," then obviously it didn't, and have them submit it again, and again.

  9. After tweeting the ceo and the sprint care team helping me unlock my phone. They were able to do it and in sprint system is showing unlocked but the phone is not taking any SIM cards besides sprint ones. But in apples system it shows the phone as being locked. Who is right and who is wrong?

Sprint is wrong. They didn't do it. Once Apple receives the whitelist request, it's done, and it's instant. Don't worry, you're not the first or last person to have Sprint say, "yeah, it's unlocked."

  10. Well, I'm not sure about full DND, just DND that is used on individual conversations in the messages app. Before 8.2 when I had DND enabled in a group message, I would still get a visual notification/NC notification, but I wouldn't get a sound, which I loved. After 8.2, I get absolutely nothing. Well, I get a app badge notification, which absolutely sucks. I can look at my phone and see there are no notifications but then I unlock my phone and see on my messages app that i have 30 un-read messages. I hate it.

See, that's the opposite of how I feel. I feel it was always broken, and 8.2 actually fixed that feature. I have several friends who find it necessary to send out 8-10 people group texts for weekend activities, and it drives me nuts. Before, DND on the convo, it would still flash my camera light, and light up my screen, showing the messages on the lock screen, and I thought that was dumb. They do everything but make the alert sound. Now, it's like you said, nothing. Only the badge above the messages icon, and I'm really happy. I keep telling my friends, text for single conversations, Facebook for group chats. It's so easy to remove yourself, and silence alerts for X amount of time, or permanently on Facebook. Plus, the thread flow is more accurate and easier to follow. In those group texts, there are a few without iPhones, causing the typical SMS delay, out-of-order thread flow.

  11. My battery life has been great, and it has been consistenly great every day. 8.2 hasn't really done anything for me other than break DND, so I haven't really had any problems.

    -Anthony

What's broken on DND? I work nights and sleep during the day. It's my lifesaver at preventing the 600 alerts I get during the day so I can actually sleep. Works fine for me.

  12. Battery usage on the betas are terrible too. Put your brightness up slightly and the battery drains instantly.

That's been my last ditch effort to make it through a day with heavy usage: auto brightness off and turned down low.

  13. I like this phone.

My usage is on par with that. I used to be around 7-8 hours usage at 50%, now, I'm lucky to be around 5. I have almost the exact same app list, too. Maybe it's 8.2? I'm reading online how many people are pissed about the battery life with this OS. It seemed fine for me at first, then went downhill.
