  1. Mine seems to be instant, so it could be something that is going on with your phone. Have you tried a soft reset?

    -Anthony

Yeah, it's doing it, then it won't, then it's back. Maybe the OS just needs to "break in" for a little bit. Other than that, it seems nice and snappy.

  2. Yeah basically it looks like a 5s screen on a 6. It's pixalated and gross and I imagine it's worse on the 6+

I've owned both, and it's far worse. The expanded keyboard is impossible to type on. You start getting used to the normal size, and then open up a stretched app, and it's typo city.

  3. I was really disappointed when I opened it to find it still has no iPhone 6/6+ optimization. It's beyond pathetic and annoying and something I will never understand. Why update an app giving it a completely new UI and not add support to devices across the board?

I think Apple has a deadline in place for ios8/64-bit compatibility. They need to tack on iPhone 6/6+ screen compatibility, or you're pulled from the App Store. I have at least half of my daily apps still stretched to the max and looking terrible. Apps that are from massive corporations. Unacceptable.

Oh, wow. Another app that gets a makeover, and still doesn't support the iPhone 6/6+ screen. It's pathetic at this point in time.

  5. I've tried whitelisting all my devices, extending lease time to 9999, giving everything static IP's...nothing works. My old iPod Touch that is stuck on iOS 6 never has WiFi problems. I'm starting to think of iOS 8 as a semi-polished turd. I guess I was hoping that I wouldn't have to spend any more money on equipment and Apple would just "fix it"

I used to have router problems all the time; constantly needing to be power-cycled, dead WAN connection, etc.. I went and bought an AirPort Express 2 years ago, and haven't touched it since. It's crazy how well Apple routers work. They're the best, in my opinion.

  6. From my discussions with their internal team, it's a limitation of the system and the way the developers developed it. It's supposed to be on a device by device basis.

I'm sure this will get fixed later on. It doesn't seem right or fair.

  7. I had to do a restore on my 4S... it refused to unlock until I did by simply putting a foreign SIM. Not sure about other models right now; and still waiting on them to do my 5S. It's failing Sprint's 'financial eligibility check' even though it's on a current postpaid account, and full paid off, because I have a "WeGo" device on an installment plan ($5/mo) on the same account. Now tell me that isn't a screwed up programming job, there. Nice job, Sprint.

You can not have any contract or installment on the line at all. Even if it's s different device, and your iphone was paid in full. This was the trouble I ran into. I had to pay off the old android phone I had there, and wait a week for the installment plan to disappear from their system. People tell me it makes sense, but I just don't see it. I paid for my 6+ out of pocket, but it didn't matter. Their system was rejecting the unlock request every time.

  8. Meanwhile, I went back to using my iBlason case because the Otterbox is driving me nuts.

My cases keep getting slimmer and slimmer. Right now, I'm using a Spigen thin fit matte for some grip. It offers zero drop protection, and is only good for preventing back and side scratches. Damn slick phone. I don't want to use a case!

I'm almost in the Plus club. Just gotta get this unlock for my 5S to work and sell it to my friend tomorrow and we'll be golden! (Figuratively and possibly literally depending on which color I get ;) )

    -Anthony

I've owned all colors, and the gold is my new permanent choice from here on out.

  9. I went into this trying to get only an international unlock for travel later this year. Figured I'd ask about the domestic in case I want to switch devices later on... and according to the chat rep, they did it. I was quite surprised.

    To sum it up:

"[05:53:21 PM] Darlin S: Awesome your device is now unlocked for domestic use."

Either they found a way to force it despite me being under contract, or their attempt won't work despite the "system" saying it did.

Apple chat confirmed that they got a request for the international unlock. If the domestic doesn't work, I won't be mad, but it would be cool to have the freedom to test out other prepaid SIMs.

If Apple said they received the request, you should be good with a profile update. The issue Sprint was having was that their unlock requests weren't being received by Apple. I'm sure that bug has been taken care of. Sprint will not DSU your device because the system has checks that it has to go through. It will reject it because of the contractual obligation you still have. The rep probably just worded it wrong for your ISU and had no clue what they were doing. As I've read on various forums, there have been accidental DSU's when a customer was requesting an ISU on their contracted/financed device. Some were lucky, and you might get lucky, too.

  10. I wish I could, being JB'd kind of prevents this right now. :-(

In any case, I just chatted with a Sprint rep who said they performed an international unlock, then performed a Domestic unlock on my iP6.... and I am still under contract. So, either it won't work, or it will and they just skirted the policy. I'll try it out tomorrow on an ATT sim at work, but only doing the ##update# dialer update.

They did mention that the international unlock requires a restore, while the domestic unlock only requires a "##update#" to take effect. Time will tell...

Neither, from what I've heard and experienced, require the restore. If you're under contract, why are you trying to get an unlock? They definitely won't do a DSU, only an ISU.

  11. Just to confirm... there's no real reason to do a full-restore after an unlock, right?

I guess that's a 4th way to check if you're unlocked. You'll restore as a new iPhone, not from a backup. You'll then see "Congratulations, your iphone is now unlocked."

  12. Had this weird thing happen. I guess when I turned on iCloud photos beta on myiphone, it decided to delete my iCloud backup...so I turned it off and checked my back up from last night and it was only 1.6 gb, which obviously doesnt make sense because I have like 7 gb of photos.

So I turned it on and off and I think? its now backing up my photos...that's pretty annoying because I would be very irritated if I had lost those since I don't regularly sync to iPhoto. Anyways, we will see.

iCloud photo backup is fantastic. I've been using it since its inception. My backup used to be around 8gb including photos. Now it's 1gb and 7gb. It just splits it up, but it lets you view the photos in real time on any iDevice that you have linked up. Edit a photo on your iPhone, and it's instantly fixed on your iPad, etc..

Edit: it also is constantly adding/deleting from your iCloud account. If you leave the house and take 20 pictures, delete 4 old pictures, and take 2 videos, the changes happen immediately upon returning to wifi instead of only changing when your backup occurs. You'll see the changes pending in the iCloud photos tab, just waiting for wifi.

  13. This may have been answered, but if so I missed it..

Is there any way to find out if the unlock has completed and/or how to check unlock status on the phone (iphone6+) itself? (without changing sims)

    any app or dialer code?

No. There are only 3 ways: 1) inserting a different sim 2) asking Apple tech support to check your IMEI 3) buying the unlock information from www.imei.info ($1.99, I think).
