  1. No interest in hockey myself.  I haven't done fantasy football in years so I'd likely suck at it, but I'd give it a shot anyway.

What I'd want to know is, from any college football fans, would there be any interest in creating an S4GRU-member Yahoo CFB Pick'em group?  I do this with some friends every year, but would love to participate with any of you guys that'd like to form a group as well.

Edit:  Nevermind, I'll start a new thread on this, my apologies to lilg as I don't want to get his thread off track.  Carry on hockey fans. :)

  2. Either way its good news for me. Im glad sprint is pushing back for us trapped on the island known as Ntelos. Sooner the better. Sending a sos Sprint! Ha

It'd be nice from my perspective too in terms of closing the I-81 gap between Abingdon/Meadowview and Harrisonburg when I'm making trips to/from PA.

  3. I remember when TV wasn't 24 hours a day and stations would go off the air at night. Ahh, memories. I bet most of our members agree too young to even get this clip.

It was the one time where hearing the national anthem was depressing.

Anyone whose ever watched Poltergeist even in more modern times at least should get it however.

  4. I think most prefer all the customization Handcent offers, though if you don't text much I could see where its not a big deal.  As for Google Voice, I haven't (yet) had any issue with using Handcent and receiving texts via my GV number.  I don't integrate via Sprint though, so I can't speak to that angle of usage.

  5. When I had Verizon, I had a droid RAZR, and a droid X. Both of which did the whole messages. I'll try a different messaging app. Would you recommend Handcent?

I would....I used to use only stock messaging, but once I actually tried Handcent I've never looked back.  Granted I've never tried/looked at any of the other non-stock texting apps that may be out there either, but Handcent's about the most popular one out there.

  6. If you are 5 inches while still "floppy," that is none too shabby.

That's what she said?  (I only claimed to know the reference, not to be able to effectively implement it properly in all cases)

  7. i've seen 5 inch floppies, they are huge, but the 3 inch ones are the ones I used.

    That's what she said!

(Just submitting proof that while I'm an old 40+ fart, I do still keep up with some of the more youthful hipster trends)

(Also, I'm ashamed of AJ, he should have picked up on that long before me since this is the first time I've even read this thread)

  8. I wouldn't discount an algorithm though that could focus on some sort "user generated" negativity that could essentially embolden non-staff members to push irrelevant, spammy, rude etc. violators out into obscurity.   Kind of like a hybrid weighted trust meter.

That already exists in a simpler non-algorithmic form.  It's called the Report button.  ;)

  9. I agree for the most part although I think what would be best in this case would be allowing negatives or positives to cancel each other out.  The extremely high or extremely low ratings could/should then be immediately flagged and available to the moderators to determine the validity in either case.

That's way too much work (or better yet, trouble) than it would ever be worth for a moderator to ever want to go through, especially when doing so on a purely volunteer basis.  The same thing is accomplished anyway with just 'likes' alone, because those who would otherwise be 'disliked' will only ever have little to no 'likes'.

Personally speaking though, I'm actually fine with a forum as well as its posters and their content standing on their own legs and let that be that without any likes or dislikes either one, myself.  I'd value the content this site and many of its posters bring just as much if I couldn't 'like' certain posts or see that others did. Everyone has their own unique opinions and ideas about things, and I know in my own mind if I like someone's input or not without having to have it validated through the 'likes' of others.  Granted, if the system is there, I'll participate in it too, but it doesn't really add anything to my enjoyment of what I read here that would be missed if it suddenly went away.

  10. id pay money for a dislike button lol

at the very least an ID 10 T button

If there were dislike buttons here, I'd be significantly less inclined to stick around.  Every forum I've been involved with that used such 'negative reinforcement' never came out with 'positive' results from it, and usually it was a detriment to the overall atmosphere of the community over the long run.   The only real time such a thing really needs be used in the first place are for people who are obvious cancers to the health of the community to whatever degree, and honestly, that's what having forum moderators is for....to deal with such cancers.

  11. Happy to report that while I can't say 100% for certain yet this issue is completely solved on the beta stream, progress is being made.  The root cause has definitely been identified;  apparently Motorola phones don't report battery statistics correctly (or at least normally compared to other phones) in Android. The dev had found an undocumented workaround previously which worked up till now, but something in the JB update for this phone changed things.  When I sent him log files to review, he discovered that the phone wasn't reporting to the app properly in 10% increments, but rather over a 20 second period it reported 70, then 100, then -14 percent (weird I know).

He put out a new update on the beta stream the next day, and after I had a ~50 minute work road trip to another office that I tested with (and I made a point to have bluetooth on even though I didn't have another device to pair to), the mapping process didn't halt during that frame of time.  My Friday trip 9-10 hour drive to PA will be the true litmus test, but if nothing else, this is definitely progress!  :tu:

  12. I'm not debating whether or not they're planning on axing them, because no one here knows that for sure, and unless or until they do, it doesn't really matter; all the conjecture or supposition that they're going to at whatever point is completely moot.  At some point of course they'll change, and so will the new plans just released eventually whenever they come out with even newer plans, rinse/repeat.

Right now, the previous plans are still available for those who care to either ask for them or do a little research, and that's not conjecture, but rather a fact.  Those that don't probably never knew about the Everything Data plans to begin with, and will make their decisions based on what they can and do see presented to them online or in stores.

  13. Why are the old plans no longer available on the website? The only way I could find the Everything Data is through Google. And I couldn't find the family Everything Data.

Post #453 in this thread has the links to the previous plans, they're still active online, just not linked to on the website directly any longer:

  14. I think it was 129.99, not 119.99. Here are the old individual plans: http://shop.sprint.com/mysprint/shop/plan_details.jsp?tabId=pt_individual_tab&planCatId=EverythingData&planFamilyType=&flow=AAL

And here are the old family plans:

    http://shop.sprint.com/mysprint/shop/plan_details.jsp?tabId=pt_shared_tab&planCatId=EverythingDataFamily&planFamilyType=null

Remember to add $10 premium data for each smart phone to the old plans, as that is not included in the pricing. You are correct about the discounts though.

Robert, it might help some folks if this were somehow incorporated into the OP...or otherwise linked and stickied at the top of a new thread somewhere.  Just a thought anyway.
