  1. Anyone know when HTC will announce the HTC One Max at IFA? Is there a scheduled date?
  2. The specs are not 6 months old. A 1080p screen is not out of date. The heart of the Note 3 is a S800 chip which is not what the S4 has which has a S600 chip and just came out in June. While the Note 3 and GS4 do share some of the features such as IR blaster, 1080p screen, 13 MP camera, and the shape is somewhat like the GS4, the Note 3 does have plenty of features that differentiate itself from the GS4. I don't see any problem with reusing the same 13 MP camera as the GS4. I said before that more megapixels are useless. What is that going to do for you? If Samsung came out with a 16 MP camera instead of a 13 MP camera would that be future proof enough for you? I highly doubt that extra 3 MP would do much difference. Id rather have an improved camera sensor that can provide mega zoom instead of more megapixels. This is why I think you still need a point n shoot or digital SLR camera because the camera phones just can't do that crazy zoom that I would want. In terms of what is new on the Note 3 like I said above it has the S800 chip. In addition the back cover is faux leather and not the cheap plastic like in the GS4, the speaker grill is on the bottom of the phone instead of the back on the GS4, it uses a USB 3.0 charging port (first of any flagship smartphone that I have seen) instead of USB 2.0 port in the GS4 and every other current flagship phone, 3 GB RAM vs. 2 GB RAM in GS4, etc. What else do you expect? The GS3 and Note 2 were pretty similar in terms of specs so I don't know what expectations you were looking for in the Note 3. Really what you should care about is the improved processor in the S800 instead of the 6 month old 13 MP camera sensor which is awesome already.
  3. The s3 was 199 when it came out and the note 2 was 299. You cant combine new customer discounts as part of the reason why its 200 cheaper. The s4 was 249 wen it came out. No ifs ands or buts about it. U have to assume current sprint customer pricing to be fair because in reality u are a current sprint customer ans the new customer pricing doesnt apply to u anyways. Also who knows if sprint wont offer a promo for the note 3 and i doubt sprint will try to push that 349 with 2 yr contract price. Sprint will try to keep it at 299 especially if the other carriers keep it at 299. Sent from my Motorola Photon 4G using Tapatalk 2
  4. So I looked at the Galaxy Mega 6.3 press release and it didn't mention it either. Also ehhh i am still not convinced that a triband GS4 will hit Sprint. We have been talking about it for months with no confirmation. Also the Sprint LG G2 press release is posted below. So can you point out where this Sprint LG G2 press release screams out triband LTE? I don't see it. This gives me comfort since it doesn't scream out triband LTE. Sprint LG G2 press release http://investors.sprint.com/file.aspx?iid=4057219&fid=18799541
  5. Did you read my follow up post to Robert's post? Sprint has said in the triband LTE hotspot press release that LG and Samsung smartphones would be released with triband LTE capabilities later on in the year. So far the only other Samsung smartphone since that announcement is the Galaxy Mega 6.3 which is a midrange phone. I would be very shocked if the Galaxy Mega 6.3 got triband LTE and the Galaxy Note 3 didn't. Also at what point does Sprint need to continue putting in their press releases "triband LTE support". I mean Sprint has said from 2014 and beyond all LTE devices will be triband LTE. Again without FCC doc confirmation, we are all worrying for nothing. Hell I thought the HTC One and GS4 would be triband LTE but it turns out it wasn't when it was confirmed in the FCC docs.
  6. I will be a very very sad panda then. I would easily give up SVLTE for triband LTE.
  7. This!! Exactly dude. I know everyone's biggest concern right now is triband LTE support but lets not take one or 2 things that Samsung or Sprint didn't do and assume that it won't be triband LTE. The members on this site are all smart enough to rely on FCC docs to verify the truth. We know the FCC docs have not let us down in the past in terms of confirming functionality so why freak out right now.
  8. Stop freaking out. The specs don't list the LTE bands it supports. All it says in the specs that LTE band support is market dependent. They only talk about band support for CDMA and GSM. Believe me I am just as anxious to find out about triband LTE but Samsung is not going to mention specifically Sprint on the livestream. I know its hard to believe but Samsung or any other OEM do not specifically shout out triband LTE support for a wireless carrier.
  9. there are a lot of things they didn't mention. They didn't mention the IR blaster, secretly revealed the 5.7 in screen in the background screens without talking about it. Heck they didn't even mention that the speaker is now at the bottom which I think is awesome. I hate the speaker in the back.
  10. I just noticed in the engadget pics that the phone has a USB 3.0 port which means it supports USB 3.0 charging. This means that charging should be a lot faster. Also this confirms the speaker at the bottom. I hated the speaker in the back since when you put it down the sound is muffled. #Winning!! http://www.engadget.com/gallery/samsung-galaxy-note-3-hands-on/945881/#!slide=945893
  11. Wait the FCC doc for the Note 3 will be released later on today?
  12. But keep in mind, Sprint announced in their triband hotspot press release below that triband smartphones will be available later on in the year. http://investors.sprint.com/file.aspx?iid=4057219&fid=17070539 "Smartphones from Samsung and LG with tri-band capability are expected to be available to Sprint customers before the end of the year." This press release still gives me solace and confidence that the Note 3 will be triband LTE and I highly doubt the Galaxy Mega 6.3 will be triband LTE. I wouldn't look too hard into the Note 3 press release of intention to support it as fact. We are all smart enough to rely on FCC docs to verify the truth.
  13. I don't know what you were expecting.in terms of the specs in general. For the screen resolution, it was pretty predictable in terms of it was obviously going to be super amoled 1080p screen. Were you expecting a screen resolution higher? There is no reason to go higher than 1080p at this point. Also the camera sensor at 13 MP is fine. A fallacy is that the more MP equals better quality which is not true. 13 MP is plenty good enough for a camera and is a huge improvement over the 8 MP Note 2. The battery was a bit disappointing at 3200 maH. I was really expecting a 3500 maH battery or the rumored 3450 maH battery. I just hope improvements in software can help account for the smaller than expected battery increase. In terms of looks, I completely disagree with you and I actually liked the GS4 shape with the roundness and I was hoping that the Note 3 would look similar to it which it does. I just don't get why people want something crazy revolutionary. Its going to be squared shape anyways. The leather back was a huge surprise given that its history lends itself to a plastic backing and it seemed like the speaker is now on the bottom which is a great change. I didn't see a hole in the back of phone which was a surprise since I speakers in the back since you can't hear anything when you lay it down. They didn't mention some of the specs that were similar to the GS4 such as a microSD card slot, removable battery and IR blaster but I assume it was standard and is included in it. My purpose of watching the livestream was to confirm the specs that were most important to me such as screen size (thank goodness its only 5.7 inches), S800 processor, dimensions of the phone (thinner, slightly less wide, lighter ). I am totally sold on the Note 3. I just need to see Sprint confirm that it will be triband via FCC docs. Of course the livestream wouldn't confirm triband since that only applies to one carrier but I fully expect it to be.
  14. Bummed out about the 3200 maH battery. Everything else I am thrilled about. I am so glad the Note 3 is only 5.7 inches.
  15. They already talked to Nestle about this and they got their blessing. In fact they are both agreed to run a promotion to win a google tablets, google play cards and free kitkats in the wrapper and have a website to promote it as well. Google is not that dumb to use a name knowing that is clearly trademarked. If the Google legal counsel didn't raise that concern when they first discussed this and got their ducks lined up prior to public release of the next Android version, they should all be fired.
  16. SVLTE is not good enough for you? I mean the HTC One and GS4 both have SVLTE support. Even if you don't have LTE where you are at currently, eventually it will get to it and you can take advantage of it. Like AJ said, I don't think its worth the money to keep SVDO support. However I do wish that SVLTE should have been left alone. I think SVLTE could still be beneficial for everyone including myself which I rarely talk and browse but I can see the benefit of the times I do need to search for something while on the phone.
  17. After looking at the moto x in person at the ATT store which they use onscreen buttons and is supposely a 4.7 inch display, I was very unimpressed. The screen size usability is so small because the onscreen buttons take up so much of the screen real estate. In fact when i sized up my photon 4g screen (4.3 inches) with the moto x screen minus the onscreen buttons, it matched perfectly. So in reality the moto x true screen size is 4.3 inches. I prefer capacitive buttons and the physical home button on the samsung phones and i hope they dont plan to muck with that anytime soon. Sent from my Motorola Photon 4G using Tapatalk 2
  18. But it got at least 1 software update Sent from my Motorola Photon 4G using Tapatalk 2
  19. I went to a AT&T store to play with the Moto X because I was curious about the phone. The screen itself is 4.7 inches but the Moto X uses onscreen buttons for home, back and multiwindow which take up some screen real estate. I took out my Moto Photon which is 4.3 inches and measured it up minus the onscreen button space and sure enough the true screen size of the Moto X is only 4.3 inches. I was pretty bummed out about that. I wish Sprint would start giving out release dates already for the Moto X and LG G2. Verizon and AT&T are already selling the Moto X and we know the Moto X has already passed the FCC testing.
  20. Yes I am definitely going to do this when I get a LTE phone...probably the Note 3. I prefer the Verizon LTE logo but the Tmobile LTE logo isn't too bad.
  21. Well the Nexus series doesn't have the 4G LTE icons because stock Android doesn't have such lingo. But I know the Tmobile GS4 and Note 2 have it for sure. It should look like this.
  22. I think they are just putting that out there in case Dish wanted to come back with reasonable terms. Before Softbank Sprint really needed the extra revenue with network hosting but now that Softbank is here, Sprint doesn't need Dish's revenue all that much. If anything I see Sprint only entertain the idea of network hosting for Dish and begins negotiations if Dish initiates the talks and Ergen gets that big ego out of his head. I am sure there may be hard feelings because from Softbank because Dish drove up the total cost for both Sprint and Clearwire but at the end of the day its business and if its a good opportunity for both sides, I don't see why they couldn't make it work. However if I were Sprint, I would only do this with Dish if Sprint gets the majority of the terms.
  23. I really anxious to see what HTC comes out with for the HTC One Max to distinguish itself from the Galaxy Note 3 and the LG Optimus G Pro. IFA can't come soon enough although I am more eager and interested to see the features and specs of the Galaxy Note 3.
  24. What about the Tmobile LTE icon? I think the Tmobile LTE icon looks pretty nice along with the Verizon one. Anything is better than Sprint's "4G" icon.
