  1. What possible justification is there for this charge when you can also connect to Exchange server through the built in email app on a phone too? Sprint CSR is wording this as they are charging for a service. What service are they providing other than the data connection I already pay for?

its pretty much nickle and diming the users....

T&C stated data is for personal use only, Good/BlackBerry is corporate/enterprise, so they charge another fee for this enterprise access  :td:

attached the letter to the first post, the only edit is to remove personal information

  2. Employer paid good to license their service

    on top of that

Sprint charges users a "toll" fee as the rationale is this is for business use and not personal use, where the T&C only allows for personal use.

I think this is just a result of all the discount and promotions being implemented lately, they have to make up for the revenue loss somewhere why not just nickel and dime us some more especially if they are just enforcing an existing T&C clause.

My employer uses Good, I don't have any say in that matter, best I can do is try to get them to approve for compensation/expense for it.

The bad part is this may be only for Andriod users.... as I heard/read on the web that for ATT/VZW, iPhone users are somehow exempted either due to agreement with Apple or the carrier can't decipher the Good traffic when used on an iPhone to know who is using Good or not.  Take either explanation with a grain of salt

I always thought that Good was an enterprise MDM tool that the employer paid for to ensure secure access to exchange servers, etc.

At least, we had to pony up if we wanted to access email/calendars/etc on our Android and iOS devices. That's why we're now on an enterprise MDM solution (Airwatch) and rolled everyone off of Good.

(As an aside, Good is an awful name for that app. It was awful!)

  3. I just received a snail mail warning me that they would start billing for anyone using Good starting Jan 2015 2016.  They "claimed" previous billing system issue allow certain users to get this "feature" without being charged.

Seem this falls under the fine print in the T&C for corporate email access similar to how they charge extra for BlackBerry

    edit*

I'm weary the 12/31/2015 (so charge start on 1/1/2016) part maybe a Sprint typo... let's see if i get charge for in on next months bill

    edit 2*

Added a Sprint forum link on the same issue, it sheds a little more light on the issue with the possibility that the company's license "MAY" cover the access fee already?

  4. Why would you rule that out?  Qualcomm baseband modems have supported TD-SCDMA for several years now.

    AJ

If TD-SCDMA would work, that's even better :D, but I'm guessing chance are low of TD-SCDMA working by default, maybe only work with rooting/custom radio/mod?  My interest is that I have relatives in GuangZhou where China Mobile TD-LTE is available:

    1) I can use TD-LTE on my sprint phone when i travel there with a China Mobile SIM

    2) I can gift my used sprint phone to my relatives when I upgrade to a new phone.

I use my phone for work and the GOOD app is a PITA when it comes to rooting/mod

My relatives are not tech savy and I don't want to play tech support dealing with rooting/modding from half way across the planets.

  5. I have a question for people in the Naperville area. How's the triband working in Naperville? I have a friend with an iPhone 5 who lives in Naperville and she's not happy about the Sprint LTE service in her area. I explained her that her phone only catches band 25 and that with the iphone 6 she will be able to connect to band 26 and 41 as well and she may have a much better experience.

Naperville is hit and miss, B26 is widespread, I've also seen USCC b25 around Naperville but B41 is not available in most area, Rt 59 area has it, but the area bracket by Modaff to the west 55th/Maple to the north, Naper Blvd to the East and where Weber/Washington meet to the south area doesn't have B41 coverage.  You can see the B41 coverage using Sprint's coverage tool, if you zoom in enough (4th cloesest zoom with street level detail) you will see the "Turbo" shaded area that's B41.

Why is she not happy with the service? I know the speed on B25/B26 arent great, but they usually work pretty well

  6. 6+ vs n5

note, the -91 on the status bar means it was cycling b25 (-91) vs b41 (-112), however the b25 should be serving cell 47.

there is also another b41 SC 332 (-114ish on n5) not shown and both are bounced between the 3.

as you can see, that was all in the space of about 60 seconds or less.

Thanks very much, so seems like even with the >30+ ERP/EIRP the IP6 doesn't seem to be doing significantly better than the N5?

Wondering why the average RSRP on the IP6 is bouncing all over the place though.... with a -120dBM RSRP on B41, my HTC One Max would not be sending/receiving anything and waiting to get drop back to B25

  7. Would anyone be kind enough to do a side by side comparison on B41 signal strenght RSRP against another Sprint Spark phone (S4, S5, M8, Notes 3, N5, G3, etc).

I really want to see how good is that B41 >30+ dBm ERP/EIRP on the IP6/6+ compared to the typical low 20s dBm ERP/EIRP on most other phones

  8. I'm kind of in the same boat, not necessarily iphone related, but wondering if Sprint worldphone with Spark can enjoy regular GSM + TDLTE service in China where TDLTE is available, using a China Mobile sim card.  I know 3G won't work as China Mobile 3G is not regular HSPA+

    eager to find out

As far as international unlock goes, I think you have to be either a long time customer, or out of contract, or you paid for your phone outright with no financing in order to get the the international unlock?

  9. weird b25 was worse with this for me. Band 26 us around 10-15 dBm better .

LTE speed is highly signal strength dependent (assuming air wave and back haul are not saturated).  So i think ideally you want to be on B26 as much as possible anyway as that will give you a better signal strength compare to B25 at the same location.

  10. Yeah. I finally just recently was able to get my framily full. $35 for unlimited talk/text and 3gb data is perfect for me. I hope the individual plans they are announcing will be close to this. Only problem with framily is pricing is not locked in and it's not clear if adding new members will be allowed going forward.

you can still add members to Framily, the plan is just not marketed anymore, at least according to FierceWireless article

"Sprint will continue to allow customers to add subscribers to their Framily plan, but Sprint will stop marketing the Framily plans"

  11. how do these new plans stack with employee discount?

with the Everything family i get my employee discount off the first/primary line, data is not discounted at all.

So does the new plan discount the $100 data pack portion? or 1 line of the $25/$15/$40 portion?

If the latter, this basically nerf employee discount into uselessness.

like hescominsoon, I can't see this new plan being more cost effective than the Everything Family plan... even during the discount/promotion period

  12. I am not going to tell you to stay with sprint neither, yet as premier member you know they aren't even totally done with band 26. Also that they haven't even turned up the power all the way on the 800 sites yet. I have a feeling when they do, it will be great. You know sprint's network is going to be one of the best networks around in a few months. But again, do what is best for you.

That's interesting tidbits about B26 power level.... I look forward to when they turned up the power all the way which hopefully wlil help improve the lousy reception on my HTC One Max....

alas... premier sponsor access is (for me) a bit too costly  :(

  13. What have you noticed the drop off points difference between B41 and B25 to be?  Any difference?  Let's say excluding regular outdoors or in your car coverage cuz that's rather default for good service no matter what band.

I have an one max, the reception is pretty bad on it actually compare to the N5 (my wife have a none-spark GS4 and for B25 it consistently carry 5-10dbi better than my One max at the same location).

With that in mind, my personal experience with the One max has been, In a typical office building, (unless you happen to be right next to a tower...) if you have B41 outside, moving more than 10 ft from a external windows would drop to B25, another 10 ft or so or if there are some walls easily drop into B26... inside elevator pretty much lucky to get 3G.

  14. going to be in chicago early next week, looking forward to seeing how well the network is holding up in the downtown & millennium park areas in particular, and the route between stl and chicago in general, and how it compares to stl's current state.

Commenting the route between STL and chicago, assume you meant STL to be St. Louis?

In that case, you pretty much have LTE coverage almost all the way, except for the stretch by Springfield, and maybe occasional deadspot depending on your phone's reception.

In downtown if you are using the N5 in your signature, you should be happily sucking data through B41 when you aren't deep inside a building.

  15. Those of you with an M8 can disable B25 to check B26/B41 coverage while you're there. I'm not going this year, sadly, but I do want to see speed tests from congested sectors.

Can a one max do that now? i know we couldn't do it when it first came out, but i didn't keep/follow up with the topic

  16. If band 26 was a person, I'd give her a hug, and a small pat on the rear. I'm in a supply room at my fiance's work in Oakbrook. 4 cinder block walls where she used to get Sprint 1x/Verizon roaming data. Now it's -108dBm b26 with 8mbps speeds. :)

Oh which part/building? I'm in the office building across from the Oak Brook shopping centers

  17. I've seen the second carrier quite frequently, but not the B26, I guess I'll pay more attention to signal check and dump the log again to double check :)

Well now that i paid more attention, yes I see B26 popping up every now and then here in metro chicago area, but a bit different than compared to when i was in austin texas where I was almost exclusively on B26, the rest of the time I'm more llkely to be on B41.

In Chicago, I'm still mostly on B25 (original or USCC channel), only occasionaly do I see B26, and B41 services are still spotty in area I frequents

  18. Yeah. I've found 26 at least once in most of the south/west/southwest burbs. I live in Willowbrook and travel around Darien, Downers Grove, Oakbrook, etc., almost daily and all I can say is, it's in fact out there.

Edit: it's quite impressive what has happened around here in the last 2 months. The second carrier is pretty widespread, as well as 26. As Tommy has mentioned above, I have posted numerous locations in our premier thread where I've found things. I'm a local truck driver, and the perfect candidate for searching for all things network vision. :)

  19. Which burbs?  It's on in many places, not on in many others, but seems to be spreading fairly rapidly.

Huh, thought my location already shows up under the avatar... guess not...
