Here in Houston, when I'm on b41 my upload speeds are usually around 1mbps, where as my downloads are usually around 20-40mbps . It almost seems like the upload speeds are similar to the old wimax cap of 1.5mbps. The fastest upload I've seen is around 3mbps, and that was a great signal where I was getting around 55mbps downloads speeds.
on B41 Upload speed in my experience with my One MAX are HIGHLY dependent on signal strength, even more so than download, with a bad signal where I can still pull download 10-15mbps where my upload may not break 1mbps, where on the same tower if i get closer to the tower and get near full bar, i can get 40+mbps down and 10+mbps upload

There was some mention that the GPS issue may "possibly" be related to 800mhz B26 LTE.... sounds far fetch but several user report their GPS even on different devices have been going bonky about the time they saw B26 LTE and I know mine been like that since i traveled to Austin Texas and hit B26 LTE but its still having issue back in chicago without B26 LTE
generally I'm kind of disappointed with the reception performance of the one max, signal is consistently weaker than the S4 on B25 and B41 reception is always bad anywhere unless you happen to be very close to a tower.
LTE performance speed wise have alot to do with signal strength (when the airwave or backhaul is not congested) Typically when my phone scan and lock on to B41, the signal is so low that the speedtest would be little if any faster than B25 at the same location. but moving closer to the tower and improving the B41 signal strength increases speed by alot (i have hit 40-60mbps on good signals -80dbm or so).

Still sad that Springfield (southeastern area by I55 and the power plant) still dont have LTE. I travel there roughly once a month on business trip
-
I'm traveling in the Austin, TX area and for the first time my phone is pulling Band 26 800mhz LTE

Wow this thread is really quiet!
I'm traveling in this area, am Pulling Band 26 800 LTE as well as Band 41 in the I35-290 and I35-111 area

LTE is popping in Springfield today!!
Just my luck, i was there early last week for business travel and missed it... Where was this? NE springfield? (ie NE of clear lake and 9th st?) or somewhere else?

My fault, I misread. Bitslizer, can you tell me the approximate location (intersection) that you caught this at in Naperville? You can post it here. If you know the tower id, message me with it. Thanks.
Closest intersection would be N Naper Blvd and Meadow Lake Drive

I have to say, I'm a bit disappoint with how often my Max loses network connection (triangle notification icon). I've also been missing call lately (never ring but got VM notification)

Not all Band 41 sites have Spark upgraded backhaul yet. If the site you were connected to was on just the original WiMax backhaul, it may only do 6-10Mbps even with hardly anyone on the same LTE carrier/sector. Also, without LTE Engineering screens, we don't know if you had a good quality signal. You may have had a lot of interference.
Additionally, we assume you verified that you were on Band 41 because you looked at your LTE Engineering screen and not merely because you saw the Spark logo. The Spark logo shows no matter which band you're on. The only way conclusively to know which band you're on is in the Engineering screen, of course.
No matter what it was in your circumstances, 6-10Mbps sounds like a triumph for a busy area at a peak time. Sprint would have been a complete disaster there in the past. And 6-10Mbps is the average that most of the other providers run too. Triumph, I say!

I was able to pull 20+mbps with similar signal strength back in early December during lunch time , at very nearly the same location (1 block north, 1 block west), I didn't remember the base station ID but since its like 0.1 or 0.2 miles away only I think I'm most likely on the sam ebase station. I would think Lunch time in Chicago loop is more "peak" then dinner time.
Yes I confirmed i was on B41 by looking at the LTE engineering screen ##33284#
I was wondering if the additional Spark devices brought by Sprint customer since December have already started degrading B41...?

Glad to hear you picked up B41 in the Loop. Question though did you get that 6-10Mbps while inside the theater, I am curious about the indoor coverage on B41. And I would consider 6-10Mbps a very good speed for downtown, that represents a 30x to 50x increase over LTE speeds on B25 these days down there, which are around 200K off peak hours (after 7PM in Loop).
I should have been more clear.
I was getting 6-10mbps on B41 last evening about 7pm while I was sitting inside a restaurant call Siam Rice on Wells, windows seat to get the -85 to -95 db RSRP
I was still on B41 while inside the Cadillac palace theater, balcony near the top, but I did not do a speed test there, and I think the signal was fairly weak.
However, I was also near the same area back in Dec (lunch time) and I was able to get 20mbps with even weaker signal strength

Any news regarding 800 LTE for the Chicago market yet?
I was in theater district last night and was only pulling 6-10mbps on Band 41 even with -85 to -95db RSRP on my one max

Has anyone elase noticed when connected to band 41 that the YouTube app won't stream videos? I have to open in browser before I can get an active data stream....
don't have that problem here

a bit disappointed, was in springfield for a business trip and still no LTE, had LTE most of the way from Chicago to Springfield on I-55 but not within Springfield proper

What is the difference between CDMA 800 and 3G/800?
I believe 3G/800 is basically 1900/800

Max,
I tested the MAX for the 14 days and 3g and lte was much better than my current evo lte. Picks up lte much sooner than the evo, really liked it!
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk
If the MAX is better than the EVO LTE, but the max is not as good as the S4 (band 25) I shudder to think how bad the EVO LTE is......
seem the S4 have similar if not better performance than the Mega, i regularly see 5-7db better SNR on my wife's S4 side by side to my MAX

Alright so before I exchange my device has anyone had any handoff issues... Does it park on 3g and not connect to lte without being forced by you ? I'm not sure if this is just a software issue than can be corrected.... mine doesn't handoff after sitting on 3g for hours I have observed... Only if i do a prl or a profile update will it connect temporarily until it loses reception again...
no, mine switch between 3G and LTE by itself, may not always be quick but it does get back to 4G LTE.

Yes and yes.
There is the ability to prioritize Bands in the hidden settings of Android devices.
Any idea how to do that on a HTC One max?

Another thing you can do with the N5 is swap SIM cards. Perfect for those non Sprint area vacations.
The N5 is probably one of the best hunting devices for tower info. Especially with lordsutch's app that shows even the nearby LTE sites, the PCI, GCI, and even your location on the map.
Which app is that? do you have a link please?

I have it confirmed with a Sprint Rep
for existing sprint customers on different accounts and want to join the new Framily plan, they can do a "change of owenrship" to merge the accounts
of course, only do this with someone you trust to pay their bills.

I have 2 comments/question
1) Can we do a "change of ownership" in order to merge multiple existing accounts into 1 account to qualify for the Framily plan?
2) The Employee discount, i read that its apply on the data upgrade portion only, my question would be has anyone been able to confirm if its only apply on the FIRST line like it is currently, or is the employee discount applied to ALL lines with data upgrade

I also think it will be interesting to see how far out into the ocean coverage will work as well. I bet people on cruise ships will be able to get signal much further away from port than before.
Will help for sure, but not as well as on land i don't think, i remember reading that the water vapor/moisture really degrade the signal much faster than over dry land

Noted... Thank you.... I wonder what use clearwire hotspots where if that was the case then as they had similar propergation... Hopefully 800 LTE is not far behind as well as I still loose signal in my bathroom and hallway on band 25...
I should note that my experience is with the HTC One max, which reception is not as good as the Galaxy S4 on B25, and I heard people say the N5 is even better.

Where about in the NYC market have you traveled that u picked up band 41? I know I saw on the sprint map its pretty wide spread does it make a difference between being inside a builsing over out in the streets?
In my experience so far, even if B41 is by you, you aren't likely to pick up a B41 signal in a building unless you are by a window or the tower is right next to your building
