Are they turning on T-Mobile roaming on a market to market basis?
I believe so. Possibly even tower by tower basis???

I am getting an MB3. AllI wanted is for my phone to be able to roam on T-Mobile so I called customer support. My phone still does not roam on T-mobile but I got an MB3 out of it. I will let you know if it improves my LTE experience.
You're prob not in an area where they flipped the switch yet??

They did the same thing to me, but mine was suppose to cancel, but didn't. I just called back and said they ordered the wrong one and I would like the latest version aka Magic Box Gold which is what I'm getting tomorrow.
Called back, gentleman got it cancelled and correct unit ordered!

Yes, call back. This happened to me and a Gen2 showed up.
Called back, lady said they can only order what is in stock and can't cancel the order once it's been placed. Suggested I wait and see what actually arrives and if it's the wrong one, request a return and re-order.
Pretty lame, can't cancel a "Pending" order???
-
I called and requested a Gen3 Magic Box Gold and he put in the order.
When I check the order status online, it shows: Pending: AIRSPAN AU544MAGICBX GEN2
So did he put in an order for the Gen2? Are they even shipping Gen2's anymore? Do I need to call back?

Global will allow you to roam on any of Sprint’s roaming partners that your device supports.
I may be wrong but think the LTE/Global toggle doesn't change the way Sprint phones perform/roam.

I checked the availability of the magic box in my area and it said the address is not available for the box. I just wanted to know if it will work because sprint does have service here in CT.
From my experience, the address checker is correct. You could try it. If it doesn't work, move it to a different location/business that could use it where the address checks out.

Sent to Nexus 6P on Google Fi.
it's possible that Fi has enabled it, although not haven't heard as such. send to a t-mob or verizon customer. check your PM.

Message went through and got so did a response to one number I tested that was on Google Fi. Google Fi doesn't have the "Use data" option in the SMS app, BTW.
Any other test requests?
Did you send to a Verizon or T-Mob customer? Sprint to Sprint is gonna work.

I'm on my laptop right now, but I'll grab a photo in a little bit when it gets warmer... the speeds for this area ...if within range of the donor tower....are around 35mbps down, 15mbps up. I have yet to be able to find LTE anywhere on my property, or my neighbors, using just my phone. I can go further back behind my property and I'll get decent speeds up and down.
Sorry I meant temps hi/lows.

My magic box sits outside year-round. I have it in the ONLY spot that I've ever been able to remotely find a usable LTE signal (B25). What amazes me is that I can unplug the Magic Box and sit my phone (note 9) in the spot where the magic box is working fine...and my phone will not latch onto a B25 signal. It will, however, pick up a 1x800 ...but just not the LTE. Plug the MB back in and it works like it should.
Granted I only get around 7mbps down and 1mbps up...it works. And it works reliably...
The only issue I've ever encountered with having it outside, under the carport, was when one of my kids moved the towel that I draped on the front of it and rain blew in and got into the inside. At that point the box kept working but the screen was unresponsive.
I have changed the setup and placed a piece of heavy 4x4 on top of the towel on the shelf above the MB...and it's been fine for over a year now, sitting outside.
photo? what are the max highs/lows of your area?

I called twice today, first lady said Gen3 is not shipping yet, so can't order until they are in stock and shipping.
2nd time I called, guy said that Gen3 is not available yet, but he could take the order. He said that Gen2 would be shipped which are currently in stock.
So I held off on putting in the order, as I don't need a 2nd Gen2.

I guess I haven't run into a case where SMS/MMS doesn't work over WiFi. Are you saying that if I try to send SMS over WiFi while recipients phone is powered off, my phone will try to switch to 1xRTT and send message over cellular?
enable airplane mode, then turn on wifi (confirming LTE is still disabled), then send a message (text).
report back...

If they do it in band UE Relay like in East Iowa regions then yes. If not then it may*** potentially work only with ETH or WiFi BH but who knows at this point since it's so new.
How do you suggest I go about getting my Gen2 exchanged for a Gen3?

Potentially... Though not guaranteed since it supports 10 / 20 MHz IBW while the Airave 4 does 5/10/20 MHz. The smallest EBS/BRS block is 6 MHz wide. Doesn't hurt to try though!
Would a Gen3 work in Lincoln, NE where-as a Gen2 will not??

Did you confirm that RCS is enabled?
Yes RCS works on Wifi only. And is only available at the moment for Sprint to Sprint users via the stock Google "Messages" app. RCS is 'rich communication system' and uses data/internet/wifi.
Totally different than SMS/MMS.

Yes, that's the only option available under "Carrier Settings". Does that perform a PRL update reducing the need for "Update PRL"?
I believe that is correct...

YES!!! It used to be that only SMS would work, so you'd miss Group SMS and MMS until went back on cellular.
I can confirm that both work AND both show up on the web https://messages.android.com/.
It DOES NOT work on wifi only, on the Pixel 2 XL, so this is interesting...

Pixel 3 XL no longer has "Update PRL" option under Carrier Settings. Is that something new with latest phones/SIMs?
does it have 'update device config'?
