  1. It takes your information and adds that to what others report to indicate how strong the signal is in various places. Try this. Pull up the website http://www.sensorly.com/map#|coverage. Input your address or the address of some place you know. Select the cell phone carrier and band. IF someone like you or me has participated in this, There will be an indication of the signal strength averaged out over the number of users in a given period of time. To see this in action, look the map over and take your participating cell phone or tablet over an area that does not have the shading. I took it over the neighborhood here and now have a signal quality map of the area that was not represented before. That is how I know it works. My neighborhood now has the indication how well Sprint is doing with LTE and G3. I took several areas not covered and did this. Now the evidence of that I have been there is there. The fun is what I call "painting" areas not yet visited by someone like you and me. IF you have selected the choices that work for you under settings / Report to server, You may see the effect of what you do in minutes or a few hours depending on how busy the servers are. Seeing it happen and quickly keeps me going to areas that I normally do, but by different routes to "paint" areas not yet covered. To me, it is fun. I can even use my former cell phones that no longer are in service. With four phones in the car, I cover 2-3 G and 4G LTE service in the same trips. It gives me reason to keep my old phones charged and ready if I find a good use for them. Have fun.
  2. I had an absent minded professor moment and turned my HTC One m9 off before closing the maptrip. My report to server setting was Wake to report to server and Only when charging which I was in the car much of the time. I thought somebody said Sensorly sends data to the server while active rather than waiting for the trip to end. IF true, then some of my trip data may have been sent to the server. Can anybody enlighten me ??
  3. And was that on a stock or rooted phone? IF stock - how did you do this? thx
  4. I am coming to the conclusion that the HTC One m9 is not so hot for signal chasing. I made a 200 mile loop in Nebraska.** After I left Sprint LTE service, I was in what we know as 1x800 (3g) or pockets of no Sprint service. On the return leg, I was almost back in Fremont, Nebraska still experiencing 1x800 (3G) when I should have picked up LTE well by then according to Sensorly maps. It was not until I was back in north Fremont that I pulled over and double checked my settings, etc. Even after stopping Sensorly, LTE Discovery and Signal Check Pro, my HTC One m9 was using the Nickerson tower at 1x800 (3g). In other words, even with the built in Sprint Connection Optimizer, it failed to pick up LTE when I returned to LTE territory. Even after stopping the three apps and doing the manual Airplane switch, my HTC One m9 switched to LTE band 25 at Sapp Bros in North Fremont, NE. After I went on the US Hwy 275 bypass, the HTC One m9 reverted to 1x800 (3G) over half way back to Omaha. Going over the same ground on the way up from Omaha, I was getting Sprint LTE service in various bands - mostly band 25 and some band 26. ** Fremont, NE to Columbus, NE up to Norfolk, NE and return via US Hwy 275. My LG G Pad was no better.
  5. Thank you for your response. I was hoping to "see" the other bands on the same tower. Again thank you.
  6. I am late to the party again. Some members were recently discussing prefered presentation by SCP. I thought that a couple of versions ago it presented all bands offered by a target tower. More recently, I am most often seeing just band 25 and fewer indications of band 26 present. When I am under the influence of Band 41, I am seeing my phone bounce between Band 41 and band 25. Today the best I got out of a tower known to have multiple bands was Band 25 and 1x800 (not LTE). I was right under the tower. When I do approach a Sprint with multiple bands including band 41, Band 41 is all that is presented in SCP current version. When I am in my home, I do get an indication of the tower servicing me Band 25 and my WiFi. Rarely I will see Band 26 or a non-LTE band off the tower. All those possibilities in my home are very likely correct. Speaking for myself, I would appreciate SCP indicating ALL bands perceived. My suggestons are something like: SPARK when all three Sprint bands are perceived. or LTE 41 LTE 25 LTE 26 CMDA 800 to make it easier for noobs like me to know the difference between the two 800 frequency bands.. the remainder of the options below that. Thank you for your consideration. Devices: HTC One m9 and LG G Pad F.
  7. Seperately, I also have seen some unknown neighbors with 0 db but I assumed it was GIGO. Phone: HTC One m9 set to Automatic
  8. https://www.google.com/maps/@41.1104749,-95.952603,14z Phone HTC One M9 set to automatic In the previous version of SCP, I did get some strange readings for the neighbors. The problem is you would have to know my neighborhood or county to understand how out of line the distances are from the star on this map. The primary tower is totally likely. The neighbors are further than the distances indicated and at least one tower is very unlikely given the true distance. http://i.imgur.com/xMXCSYu.png
  9. Have you tried to disable the Sprint Connections Optimiser? That swaps towers too often and IMO may contribute to the problem. My problem with the Sprint Connections Optimiser is after I disable it, it self starts again by itself.
  10. My sister obtained a Samsung Galaxy S6 last week. She indicates battery life in real world terms was very unsatisfactory.

  12. It was probably operator error when I had my HTC One M9 hooked up to my Windoz 7 PC, but I lost my Screenshots folder in the M9. It finally got so bad that not only was the screenshot not where I expected, I was not able to do any screenshots. I tried to recreate the missing folder from the File Manager. I was able to create such a folder with the desired folder name, but that by itself did not solve the problem. The tech removed the folder that I made and proceeded as below. This post is intended to share how the Sprint tech fixed my problem without a total phone reset. In the System > APPS , find the top tab ALL and select it. http://i.imgur.com/MWxwxHx.png Scroll down to System UI http://i.imgur.com/SBcjTIu.png http://i.imgur.com/kJlUUGD.png Clear everything out and Force Stop Cold boot the M9. (power Off / wait a moment / power back on) When the M9 powered back on, all was well. I had the missing folder and I was able to do screen shots as before. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If I followed all his steps, then this post may help someone else. It is possible that I missed something. ------------ Disclaimer - I am NOT that tech savvy. IF you attempt to do this yourself instead of taking your M9 into the SPRINT store tech, you do so at your own risk.. I suggest you print this post as a clue to the Sprint tech person.
  13. These links are for me individually and the entire family which is 4 smart phones plus my Katana which does not qualify for this topic. My sister has a 5 Gig rider for her cell phone number for a hotspot. I understand the hotspot allowance in separate in the bookkeeping from our family plan. I know this because she busted the hotspot budget and I got a text warning message. I am less than a gig a month on my cell phone. My new LG G tablet is under 450 MG due to some tower chasing and speed tests. I have only had the tablet less than three weeks. http://i.imgur.com/Y8ieZSF.jpg http://i.imgur.com/4HFdG0S.jpg
  14. Cute .... where did you get the above app or widget?
  15. Thanks ... but for my current needs, that choice is overpriced. I can use Freedom Pop cheaper with the Spark capable MiFi 500 LTE on the Sprint network but not at Sprint prices. That device drops into 3G when LTE fails. For now, my portable Novatel 4082 gets WiMax on very rare occasion, but even at 3G, it meets my current need .... especially after I picked up a LG G Pad. ========== I also followed up with a comment on a SPRINT home version which is the topic here a few post later. http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/6285-does-sprint-have-plans-for-service-for-wimax-home-customers-when-the-network-shuts-down/?p=415658
  16. As far as I can see, the data to SD card is by each app. The camera gives you the choice in the setting gear choice. My screenshots go there too. I use the tablet system to move some apps themselves to the class 10 SD card. Also, I have learned that in System/Apps/ (App name), I can totally disable some of the Google %^&*()_ apps that by default comes in all Android devices. While I cannot uninstall them, I can avoid wasted CPU and Google updates for the garbage. Wi-Fi on the tablet in my home is as fast as my provider claims which is pretty nice for a Cable Modem > router > 2.4 Ghz N Wi-Fi setup. That was on OOKLA speed test. Sitting in the same spot, Sensorly reports about a third download speed with the upload speed being fairly close. Sensorly ping to server was 4x slower. I guess that must be the distance factor as Sensorly chooses a server halfway across the country. LTE signal speed is unimpressive in most cases, but there have been exceptions. Like nobody in my town can get a data signal inside a Wal-Mart. This tablet did enough for my reporting app to function in all but one case. I was pleasantly surprised the app in question did not dent my 1Gig plan much. Using this tablet for tower chasing is a battery challenge with all three single test apps running at once. I just plug into the car charger, but when I forget and leave them running, the battery drain shows when I pick it up for some real work.
  17. I have only played a small bit with Wi-Fi calling, but when selected on my HTC One M9 (Lollipop 5.x), it TOTALLY disables mobile data and voice over everything that will not use the Wi-Fi pipe. It took a bit of doing to get everything non-Wi-Fi going again. As I recall, somebody else remarking about the HTC One M9 had similar problems .... only worse.
  18. I had similar results for my LG G Pad F 7.0 with Android 5.0 Lollipop - Spark capable version.. What was weird was after I d/l and installed the standard free version, a few days later, the Pro version was listed on Play in "My Apps". I downloaded the Pro version and both versions were then listed. I manually uninstalled the free version and am successfully running the Pro version at this time.
  19. My device experiencing the above problem is the LG G Pad F 7.0 with Android 5.0 Lollipop - Spark capable version. I am not totally understanding of the term "rooted". The referenced device came from a Sprint corp store. I have upload several apps including Sensorly, Signal Check Pro, LTE Discovery. Selecting "Clear Data" results in the indication that Singal Check Pro has stopped and offers to report. Even when that does not occur and appears to work, the dbs are still listed in the directory when examined via the import logs choice. Before reading your message, I manually cleared them and downloaded the trusted db again. Currently, it appears to be functioning as expected. Normally, I _DO_ select Exit to leave Signal Check Pro but after doing so, the System > Apps > Signal Check Pro indicate the app is sitill "Running" and the "Force Stop" rectangle is highlighted (selectable). Battery Doctor sees it as still drawing battery resources after the Exit option is selected. If I do force close, I do so ONLY after the recommended Exit option. I am delighted it is there. The other two apps I mention do not have that desired feature.
  20. Welcome..let us know how that works for you! I agree the three apps are a great help, but run all at the same time will make the CPU earn it's keep. I start out with a fully charged battery. When I so this on the open road, I keep my devices plugged into the car charger. As another recent new member here, I enjoy the learning curve. I find several good guys willing to answer posts you may make.
  21. I cannot clear out all the logs with the three dots >> Logs >>Clear Data. I did import a trusted db if that is a factor. ---------------------- Separately, I forced Signal Check Pro and similar apps to close because I had no need for them to run. I needed the battery to last longer. Now that I restarted Signal Check Pro, it did not load the trusted db. I was slow to figure that out, but I have successfully reloaded the trusted db.
  22. The questions asked boil down to are you going to keep your current phone or change phones? Why? For myself, I was content with my Katana basic phone (old reliable) which I still have. It operates when smart phones are SOL for whatever reason. Anywhere in the midwest USA, I could make it function one way or another. I was content with my Motorola Photon Q. It seldom let me down as long as I was in Sprint service areas. IF 4G LTE was not present, I could get 3G service. I have just upgraded to a HTC One m9. For me, the jury is still out if that was a good choice despite the good deal.
  23. My perception is Sprint asks your location for 911 purposes and to ascertain if you are in the USA or not. Otherwise, you should be okay. WiFi calling does NOT affect your calling minutes limit. You need a specified phone with the feature built into the phone.
