  1. Why would you downgrade to a Epic 4G touch...

Because I got 4 replacement Nexus phones and they all had issues. I'm taking the Epic 4g touch because my mother has one and it has been solid.

My upgrade is due soon so I won't miss out on much.

Sure it doesn't have LTE, but NV is helping it. Also I rather have a solid ICS phone with a 4.5 inch screen over a tiny phone with a mediocre screen and android 2.3(yes LG Viper, I'm pointing at you!)

Also, I got sprint to ship me an airave, which should arrive tomorrow :)

  2. I went to Aguadilla today and tested the speeds using my evo 4g I got 1.3mb down and using my nexus right next to it I got 100kbps and a ton of delayed text messages.

I gave up and agreed to switch the Nexus to the Epic 4g Touch. Sprint will be swapping it on wednesday when the refurb unit arrives.

I gave the Nexus a fair chance but after having it replaced 4 times I simply gave up on it. Sprint has serious issues with the way the network communicates with that specific phone.

  3. Maybe you can get them to give you a Galaxy Victory if they won't give you a flagship. Phone Arena gave it very decent reviews for a mid-range phone. I'm going to try to get them to give me one for my Viper.

Edit: The Galaxy Victory has a Quadrant Standard score of 4129 and the Galaxy Nexus has a score of 2023.

Sucks but it had to be done, agreed to get an Epic 4g Touch instead of my 5h Nexus.

My upgrade is in early 2013 so I may get something with LTE by then.

I tried for the victory but it wasn't listed in the corporate exchange system. Only options were the Viper, Epic 4g touch, Evo design and samsung transform.

  4. Oh, I didn't mean that. In your OP you said phone #3 was constantly sending incoming calls to voicemail. That, plus the SMS issues, usually point to an issue with the phone keeping connected to the network, usually only seen in fringe areas (at least around where I live). How does your 1X signal strength compare to other phones?

ah okay, and I cant really say the phone is showing I'm connected to EVDO Rev A but the speeds are no where near other phones on evdo rev A

  5. Does it still send all incoming calls to voicemail?

Have you tried Google Voice? It uses data instead of SMS for texting, and I find it works better overall. Not to mention, it takes over your voicemail, which works better than Sprint's. Now, this would be a "bandaid" fix, not an actual one, but it might just work well enough to make you happy.

Gvoice isnt available in Puerto Rico. it doesnt send calls to voice mail. I meant to say that in order to make my phone fetch my text messages from the network that I have to make any sort of phone call. and for that I use my voice mail. After hanging up the phone call, all the messages that were sent to me are actually received by the phone.

  6. That is unlikely. Customers have noted that phone replacement lists are usually not inclusive, and may even change over time.

    This is likely true.

This is unlikely. You'd probably have better luck through Care, all things considered. Unless this whole issue has already resolved itself.

The problem is still present with my 4th Galaxy Nexus. I don't know what else to do. I'm going to end up buying something else up front.

It kills me not to be able to do basic things like send text messages or receive them on time.

I need to make a phone call from the nexus in order to get the system to refresh and deliver my text messages. In order to do this I call my voice mail and during the call the messages(if any) start to arrive.

All of these problems are with the Galaxy nexus only. My other phones on the account work fine.

Right now in order to stay ahead with my daily communications, I'm using a $25 AT&T go phone I bought at walgreens to text people.

  7. I'm hating the Galaxy Nexus more and more every day... theres a guy who takes 4 classes with me and he has a sprint GSIII. hes been getting 0.7mb + all day while my nexus gets 0.1-0.2mb right next to it.

I've had it swapped 4 times now so its either a major bug with the phone or sprints network with the gnex.

All sprint is willing to do is swap it for a crappy LG Viper. I may use an upgrade on one of my other lines and get myself a GSIII.

  8. Well!...... I think you probably wont get the speeds I got. My reasoning is that I tested the speeds on a Sunday morning and, as you know, Mayaguez turns into a ghost town during the weekends, hence the network traffic is probably very light. My experience is that I haven't been able to get anything above 400kbps during a weekday.

That is so true. On weekends, there isn't a single car at Mayaguez Terrace. :P

I hope Mayaguez gets done soon!

This was from the university but connected to the mayaguez terrace site.

  9. now that does definitely look like a speed test on my phone, though not with that astronomically high ping time. that's crazy! is that on 1x or truly 3G Ev-DO like the statusbar indicator say?

EvDO Rev A according to Settings > About Phone > Status

Its in the mayaguez area near the Holiday Inn and Western Plaza

  10. Having used sprint now for a day in the San Juan area I would say they don't offer any form of Internet. Until they deploy vision they might as well say they offer 0g. Unlimited nothing Internet.

Then switch. Thats what the 14 day trial is for. We can't do anything about it until the new network rolls out. Thats the whole purpose of this forum.

You can jump ship to AT&T if an iPhone is what you want. But its going to cost you more and it will come with overage fees.

You can also buy it from Open-Mobile(If they get it) or Claro which will also have it soon.

If you like android phones then T-Mobile would be ideal for you too.

I know you may seem frustrated about sprints network but it is what it is and you get what you pay for these days.

Also, Sprint is taking a step in the right direction by publicly releasing information regarding network progress in Puerto Rico.

My personal advice for you is to wait. When sprint rolls out unlimited 4g LTE, everyone will want to go to sprint.

  11. Robert,

are the LTE panels all ready put up? Do they just need to turn on LTE or do they have to go back and and install all the LTE panels?

Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S III

The answer is yes, the panels are up and running on most sites. All sprint needs to do is finish the backhaul and connect them in order to start testing.
