  1. Sprints NV progress has slowed a bit. They need to fill the gap between Guaynabo and San Juan. No upgrades yet, still horrible voice and data services.

The good news is that most of the area has at least NV 3g. There are a few completed LTE sites that haven't been turned on yet like the Rio Hondo and Palma's Station sites in Bayamon.

  2. The metro area build feels like its taking ages :P

My phone has been really random. The clock has been changing on its own like crazy with incorrect time( I know it receives the current date and time from the tower) and when I set the time zone manually it still shows the incorrect time. I also believe the battery on my GS3 is toast, the phone is randomly powering off with a significant amount of juice left. I think I'll be visiting a sprint store soon...

  3. There's a big Sprint store in San Patricio, how about some LTE there please? ;) At least 3G seems to be improved, had been unusable during lunch rush and whatnot. I use Claro's Wifi there for the most part but I dunno how long I'll have access to that if I end up switching ISP at home.

Theres a loophole in order to use claro wifi for free. When the login screen appears just click register enter random info and it will work. Hell, I'm a Claro customer and have never bothered to get my username and password since I have not needed it. :)

  4. Hey guys, lately I've had to study and be out on the road weekdays from 5am to 7pm. By 3pm my phones battery would be at 15%.

I thought about buying a spare battery for my phone and switching on the fly but I thought it would be a hassle to charge two things at once.

I bit the bullet and bought the mophie juice pack in matte black for my phone.

Its great, protects the phone and most importantly it has a 2200mah battery to keep me charged.

The only con for me was the price $99.99. But knowing I can be out all day without carrying batteries or cables is great. Ill post pictures of it when I get home tonight

LoooL so then i got kind of "screwed up" cuz i originally had the larger one and now the smaller..... Ill make a call to airave cs and chek

When you call cs tell them you want the 2.5 because calls get dropped when you leave your home and the 2.5 version of it doesnt do that.

  6. Finally there is somewhat of lte i have to consatantly toggle in and out of airplane mode and in my house or my boyfriends house it goes away at least there are signs of the 4g... now is my sgs3 supposed to say lte somewhere cause it just says 4g....

It says 4g because its LTE. The fact that those 3 letters aren't there doesnt mean it isnt true LTE...

  7. I thought i grabbed sprints signal and amplified it.... I have the newer smaller unit at home (got it on july-august) but if it has a menu i can enter and change settings.... I really dont know.....

Ive had them for almost 4 years and never had them make the handoff....

The new one started making handoffs recently according to my sister. we have crappy coverage and it has a hard time communicating with the tower and sometimes fails the hand off. The signal your airave grabs is mostly for location purposes. It has a GPS so sprint knows you are using it with their network. The airave won't operate without locking in a GPS signal. Data is handled through your own ISP.

Also the OLD airaves didnt have the handoff feature. The new airave doesnt need a setup, its automatically detected by your phones. The first airave devices didnt even support data when they were released.

  8. I have that one and mine most of the time doesn't do thw hand off. Probably because of the crappy coverage in Carolina.

It not just the coverage, its the airave itself. It has a few quirks like my phone not connecting to it and having to turn it on and off. I only experienced the handoff once since I was making a call and it worked somehow. Do you have the 2.5?

  9. Yeah it does..... But it would be really cool if it transmitted LTE

It doesnt matter. The Airave transmits data equivalent to the internet speed it is connected to. If your ISP at home is 3mbps your airave wont transmit more than that.

And I think the 2.5 is this one.

My sister has one at Mayaguez and I have initiated calls using it and they were handed off to the sprint network as I drove away.

Thats awesome news. What is the difference you are noticing in low signal strength areas? For example in areas where you used to have a weak signal and indoors?

Signal building penetration hasn't improved that much for me to notice yet. The main things are that calls are not dropping as you drive. I easily held a call for 40minutes the other day while driving through areas where I used to get them dropped. Also data has been great since I stream pandora and spotify while driving and notice less buffering and stuterring.

So I guess my questions for all the Boricuas in the thread is if you guys have noticed an overall improvement around the island? Clearer calls, less dropped calls, faster and more consistent/reliable data speeds, improved cell signal?

Yes, overall pretty much everywhere except the metro area where work is currently in progress.
