Neat. I'll look forward to checking that out once the 14.3 update is released. (I never run Beta software.) My peak DL speeds on T-Mobile's 5G seem to be about the same as when I was on Sprint's LTE. However, my 5G speeds are much more consistent and reliable than when I was on Sprint. My UL speeds are up to 10x faster than Sprint's, which is a huge improvement in usability for the device. Everything App related in that respect is much faster. I'm seeing ~75 Mbps upload speeds. Yeah, there's a lot of runway left for N41. However, it seems it would make sense to put the mmWave gear on the sites when they're being upgraded so the techs don't have to make another climb/trip. There are a number of dense areas in the DMV which could benefit from mmWave: The area around The White House, Nationals Park, The Wharf, National Harbor, etc.

Is there any way to tell in my iPhone 12 Pro's Field Test Mode if I'm on mmWave? Wow. Field Test Mode looks really different than before.... Is that due to me being "on" T-Mobile with my device or being on iOS 14.2?

That's a good question. I'd like to know this as well. Doesn't seem like there's mmWave on my local site at least. I'm seeing speeds just under 300 Mbps down and ~76 Mbps up. I'd expect to see higher DL speeds if mmWave was deployed on it.

Interesting. I imagine that as part of its network integration that T-Mobile will eventually get around to either shutting off Sprint on that DAS (and relying on native T-Mobile coverage) or putting in for the addition of T-Mobile to it. It's something they're going to keep track of... After all, I'd imagine Sprint (and now T-Mobile) is paying a recurring fee to be on that DAS? Someone has to notice that line item expense, right?

Interesting. I'm sure at some point T-Mobile will take an audit of what's going on with that DAS and either terminate the legacy Sprint support or have support added for T-Mobile. Curious what you find out when you go in. Let us know! I've always been bewildered by the fact that carriers didn't prioritize coverage and speed improvements at major points of transit. I pestered Sprint about its Union Station coverage issues for years to no avail. That's where the most people actually use their phones the most (likely because they're talking, texting or surfing/streaming while arriving/departing/waiting for a train), and improvements at major transit points would readily affect and help the most people when they need their devices the most and need their service to be reliable and fast. You'd figure Sprint would see the substantial ROI from network improvements at these locations... Perhaps they did and simply had no money to do anything to improve things. Who knows, but T-Mobile shouldn't pass up on this either. Ultimately if a device doesn't perform at that type of location for a customer, it can lead to them switching to another carrier. Oh well. Hopefully T-Mobile takes this ball and runs with it.

I agree. So far, my experience has been much better. With Sprint's network, I routinely ran into congestion or coverage issues in a number of areas in the DMV, especially the Central Business District (Downtown DC), Columbia Heights and National Harbor. Indoor coverage has definitely been better too. Curious where T-Mobile would put mmWave....

My download speeds have improved somewhat over the past couple of days. Obviously, T-Mobile is in the midst of merging things together. I'm now seeing 250-260 Mbps for download over 5G, but more importantly, I'm seeing 76 Mbps for upload, which is about a 7x improvement over what I was seeing on Sprint before. This makes my iPhone substantially more usable for common tasks like sending photos, etc. If T-Mobile can deliver a similar experience to Shentel's territory, I think customers will be happy with it. Maybe T-Mobile will deploy some mmWave here in DC as well (if they haven't already)... That would be nice to check out. Anyone know if they have?

That's a good point. I guess it comes down to the quality of the RF modeling and drive-testing that T-Mobile does?

Looking forward to having this come together. T-Mobile is definitely earning its position alongside AT&T and Verizon through effective management and network building/planning.

That's what I think I'm seeing on my iPhone 12 Pro now as well. Ran some speed tests: Seeing speeds of 227 Mbps/70 Mbps on 5G.... Seeing speeds of 138 Mbps/48 Mbps on LTE.... I was actually seeing faster peak download speeds on my iPhone 11 Pro on LTE (Of course, the upload was a mere fraction of this), but it was close to 300 Mbps at the same location I'm testing from now. Perhaps they're working on integrating the network?

So that migration rate over to T-Mobile should definitely accelerate with the substantial onboarding of iPhone's with 5G given that they're new out of the box. They may have to rate-limit the "modern devices" you're referencing until they have enough mid-band 5G coverage built out, but it sounds like they're on track to hit midband 5G for 100 million people by the end of 2020 and 200 million people by the end of 2021. They state aggressive goals and they sometimes even exceed them. It's really well run. What a departure from Sprint.

Which devices are they prioritizing for the move? It would seem iPhone 12/Pro/Max/Mini upgrades or new purchases by legacy Sprint customers would heavily factor into this and further accelerate the move to T-Mobile's network?

You probably also have to make sure that "Upgrade to Wi-Fi Calling" is enabled/checked on your laptop/desktop device as well.

It's an iPhone 12 Pro straight out of the box directly from Sprint on an annual upgrade. I didn't check which SIM it has. How can you tell which one it has?

Set up a family member's new iPhone 12 Pro for them yesterday. Still waiting on mine and one other one to ship.... I left it set it to "5G Auto" and enabled "Allow More Data on 5G". Plugged it into their CarPlay for their vehicle and took a trip from Bethesda into DC. It seemed to hold onto strong 5G coverage very well. I didn't run any speed tests on it, but voice quality was very good. One thing I did notice is that it still says "Sprint Wi-Fi" for Wi-Fi Calling. I figured it would say T-Mobile for these new devices, but perhaps that hasn't been migrated over yet?

You really have to hand it to the T-Mobile network and engineering team since the merger. They're extremely proficient at network upgrades.

In rewatching it, I have a feeling the Uncarrier event could be for T-Mobile's TV service (T-Vision) with no extra taxes/fees and no charge for a "box". There's a TV in the background, and Mike says "It's on." Would be nice if it was available to Sprint customers if this is the case.

It would be nice if T-Mobile did some "Uncarrier" changes for Sprint.... such as removing taxes and fees from our plans.

My understanding is that the bill credits apply over the full 30 months, and if you cancel early you are responsible for the full device price. Not sure if that also means upgrade early.

When I was doing the annual upgrade for my iPhone lines, I saw these options: 30 month financing with the ability to upgrade once 50% of the device is paid off. (You can accelerate payments). 18 Month Flex-Lease with annual upgrade at 12 Payments. Full Purchase Price -------- Sprint appeared to be offering an additional $200 off for 5-Year+ customers in the form of bill credits over 30 months as well as trade-in offers on financing.
