    Calling Plus?

Also, were you able to get your MSL? Curious if the 41D 25A setting actually works.

I never got my MSL but yes, Calling Plus. Wifi calling still works good but the addition to the "beta" LTE calling is what I was specifically referring to since wifi calling has been around on the device and others for a long time.

    Update:

According to Hauwei, my device is under warranty until November 21st and they will replace the battery for free, however, they don't offer swaps or replacements.  I'll be without a phone for a 7-10 days.  I don't have any spare devices as my Ex-wife destroyed them all over the last few years.  Need to get the screen replaced on my Moto X Pure so I can utilize that before sending this one in.

I also have to fully wipe the device and clear anything from it, ugh!

Oh nice! I guess I should have asked when you got yours. Lol

    Good job!

I meant bigger as in the number of users impacted.  This will probably be my last Huawei device if they don't give decent support.

Oh, ok, more people NOT buying directly from Google, I get what you are saying. Well, maybe by some stroke of luck they'll treat you better than the two people I know that got devices from Amazon and Best Buy that are dealing with it.  The actually amount is $165 for battery replacement which is what they said they would do for the early shut down and boot looping issues.

I think what we are seeing is a result of the soured relationship between the two companies and Huawei's insistence that this is and was never their hardware issue.... and, to be honest, I don't think it was either.  It sucks that this is the way they are treating folks though, for sure. :(

Ugh, so the reboot issue I've been experiencing since April with the phone shutting down with about 15%-18% battery remaining is driving me nuts, I was so hoping that Oreo would resolve, but alas, it hasn't.  Started with Google support, I've already done a reset back in June with no joy.  Because my phone was purchased via Amazon, they directed me to Hauwei support.  I've emailed them, we'll see where it goes.

Hoping something can get resolved as my purchase was 8/26/16

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but Huawei have been terrible with this situation.... They'll most likely tell you to send to them and they'll fix for $150 IIRC. Night and day difference from how Google is handling it. ?

    Should allow for B25 CA.

I didn't know that option was there... need to get my MSL I guess.

Guess I should a) make a call to Sprint (I have 3 new G6's activated in the last month) and B) get at least my MSL too!

Oh, and if any of you LG G6 owners haven't already, make sure to go to LG's site and register for your 2nd year of warranty on the device.  You'll need your place of purchase, date of purchase and MEID to complete the registration. Still can't believe I got these new ones for $120 each! what a deal.  Spigen cases, glas.tr protection and 2yr of warranty on a water resistant (proof is a strong term but for all practical purposes, it is) should make for a long life on these devices. :)

  6. My Nexus 6P just formed the bootloop issue over the weekend.  Woke up at 3 AM and my device was sitting on the Google Boot image.  Then reboot, over and over.  Didn't do anything but plug it in and went to sleep.

I finally got around to calling Google today.  It took about an hour and a couple of people escalation.  Finally got a hold of someone who understood the issue.  They agreed to replace my Nexus 6P 64GB with a Pixel XL 128 GB.  I didn't ask them to do that, and assumed they would not do anything for me.  But I killed them with kindness and had no expectation.  Totally shocked.

They authorized my card for the full $900+ replacement price, but said the authorization will fall off in 3 days.  They will only put the charge through if I do not return my old Nexus 6P in 21 days.  They said I will receive the replacement express delivery in 2 days.  I'm still shocked!  BTW, I am the original owner and purchased the 6P directly from Google.  I preordered on opening day September 2015.  So this device is nearly two years old.  I'm also a Project Fi customer.

WOW! That's awesome! Just think, you've gone from dropping it merely days after buying it, to this. :)

  7. Trip, were you choosing the Black G6? I fought the site for awhile and couldn't get through the final Sprint verification either. Ended up going to store and when they told me it doesn't look like they were even given any black ones for the promo, I got out my laptop and tried the silver and sure enough, that was the problem.

I got 3 more G6's on our account and had 2 on already (I've had one as my secondary device since it came out). It's a very solid device, great radio performance, battery is good, is water resistant and 2 full years of mfg warranty. I just couldn't pass up the upgrade for the 3 teenagers on our plan.

  8. I wonder if Amazon will, i shutdown between 12-15%

    I'm the same way...

First try Google >>>>> https://support.google.com/store/answer/6301411?hl=en and instead of going to Huawei (like the instructions say to) chat with Google support.  I know, for sure, Google is extending the window of coverage for devices from them but I don't know if Huawei is (I would imagine they are but never know).  There are suits being filed because of this issue and there's a bit of finger pointing between the software and hardware suppliers.  I'd think BOTH would just want this behind them but right now, I can only speak to how Google is handling devices the sold directly.

    Good luck!

  9. Just fyi, the beta appears to be crashing on the LG V20. At least Rickie's. He's been busy on the road and stuff. Hopefully will be able to send a bug report soon. Just wanted to give a heads up.

Working beautifully on my G5 so far! Was way surprised to see "Magic Box" on my drive home last night. Apparently the former RadioShack now sneakily flipped to a Sprint store has one.

No issues with any beta this series on my Sprint LG V20 with LS997V7 software unrooted. I Can list my SCP settings if that is the difference.

All good on my G6 as well.

  10. I don't know if any of you had the early shut down issue with your 6P's but if you did AND bought from Google direct, you should reach out through the warranty page and see about getting a replacement. I had the issue and got my 6P replaced with a brand new one. If they didn't have one, they were going to refund full price paid to me in exchange for my 6P with issues.

  11. AGREED!!

Howdy all. Checking in again. Yep, same excuse, crazy busy, blah blah blah.. but I have been working on it, slowly. Due to my lack of progress, I've decided to take a new approach to the Android permissions nightmare that is really holding everything up. Everyone is antsy for new features and the new API stuff -- and that includes me.

The big holdup is how the app reacts when someone revokes a permission while it is running; right now it's pretty catastrophic. As in, worst case scenario is the device is frozen until the battery dies (!). Denying a permission doesn't go so well either. Android guidelines (and my conscience) require that the app handle these scenarios properly. However, because SignalCheck is really just displaying a lot of data it's getting from the phone itself, this is more complicated than one would expect.

I'm changing directions and going to leave crude protections in place for those who don't grant permissions, and instead going to focus on adding other new goodies. I can't release it publicly like that, but at least it will hopefully give me a chance to implement some of this new stuff and let others play with it.

I also want to change who has access to beta versions since it's been so long since anyone has gotten an update, but I need to figure out the logistics of that.

Seriously, thanks for your patience. I realize it's been a year, and a lot has changed since then. New band identifiers and new API features will be the first priorities.

    -Mike

    I'M IN! I mean, I'm still in. :)

    Thanks Mike

  12. I will say that I have 2 G6 devices that are use (go in and out of great coverage) in fringe areas outside of town (rural) and they are MUCH better than the M9's they had previously as well as my 6P.  Holding calls, even HAVING data but also usable data etc... has really changed in a real way when they got their G6's. They might even be able to dump their Airrave finally. :)

It's a known issue, exacerbated I think by Android 7. The cold temperature results in the battery voltage dropping, which the phone misinterprets as the battery about to die.

I'm not sure sure it's the cold... this very thing happened to me this morning, it's not terribly cold, (I was in the car) phone shut down, wouldn't reboot until I plugged in. One I plugged in, the phone would reboot and I looked at the battery graph and it showed power at 24% and then sharp drop to 0% for some strange reason. I'm on 7.1.2 though so as the warning given when I join the beta program over a year ago, instability can, at times, be expected.

With the 7.1.2 update they took almost an extra month to bring to the 6P, then left out features the 5X got such as finger print scanner gestures and removing the TERRIBLE automate DND when using the phone. Obviously there were more hardware issues to work out with 7.1.2 on the 6P and I guess, they still need some "working", to say the least.... Ha ha

Choice #1 = Grin and bear it
Choice #2 = Hard reset and leave the beta program
  14. Hopefully they are working on the random shutdown issue that users were experiencing.

Yeah, that one is a REALLY strange issue.  I don't know about you but my phone won't even actually shut down fully (ie no Android start up animation).  The only reason I know it's done it is because fingerprint won't unlock and I have to input my pin.

  15. I think what a lot of apps do is use the permissions all right away, so the user gets all the prompts at once. Not sure if that helps you at all...But maybe make dummy requests for the permission the first time the app is launched just to trigger the prompts. And if they deny any, just have the app close. Then request them again upon next launch (I think that's the default behavior actually). That way you don't have to change anything else in the app to handle scenarios where a permission is denied.

If it can be done like that, I think it'd be par for the course on an app like this and the user should understand "if" they want use it.  I think most of us gladly paid to allow all these permissions in the app.
