Regarding the unlimited data, they're only forced to do so because of competitive threat from tmobile. If the merger had occurred, sprint-TMO could've removed unl data and adjusted their prices upward though still far below the duo. No CEO is in it to make YOUR or my bill cheaper. Canada 2.5GHz auction is done 70MHz FDD + 50MHz unpaired but part of the unpaired is restricted (didn't care enough to read exactly how). Paired is split into blocks 10x10MHz http://www.ic.gc.ca/eic/site/smt-gst.nsf/eng/h_sf10939.html Band plan http://www.ic.gc.ca/eic/site/smt-gst.nsf/eng/sf10355.html Winners http://www.ic.gc.ca/eic/site/smt-gst.nsf/eng/sf11030.html Bell and Rogers do own unpaired in major areas like Windsor, Vancouver, etc but they'll probably continue deploying B7 (FDD).

I was curious how closely the root speeds line up with ookla so I looked at most recent Chicago rootscore (2H2014) http://www.rootmetrics.com/us/rsr/chicago-il/2014/2H (tests performed 9/5/2014 - 9/11/2014) And I compared to what ookla has for Oct 2014 Verizon Wireless 24.84 AT&T 10.32 T-Mobile USA 10.26 Sprintcom Inc 10.15 Legere is ALWAYs saying "rootmetrics is behind blah blah blah" but if you look at rootspeeds Verizon Wireless 22.82 AT&T 15.18 T-Mobile USA 14.59 Sprintcom Inc 10.54 Rootspeeds way over estimated TMO's speeds (assuming Ookla is the gold standard).

If anyone lives between Ithaca, MI and Mt. Pleasant, MI it'd be nice to confirm the lack of 2G, as this map indicates https://maps.eng.t-mobile.com/pcc.html?map=mvno-noroam-2 whereas this map indicates there is 3G/LTE https://maps.eng.t-mobile.com/pcc.html?map=mvno-noroam-34l -

I never heard once any proposal from softb for network sharing, probably because that would've cemented a 4 carrier regime and look how profitable 3-carrier co-opetition is for softbank. With the Japanese domestic telecoms business generating stable cash flow, SoftBank’s main focus will be to create a portfolio of technology companies. http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/aac64fde-f7aa-11e4-8bd5-00144feab7de.html#axzz3ZxPe3cQI Son is betting he will be allowed to merge later so he'd rather upgrade sprint now, then pay for TMO including all the upgrades that TMO performed and hopefully wring savings out of that merger; I'll get the humble pie ready.
