So I talked to a friend of mine that works for sprint/T-Mobile and yes they are now throttling all sprint users now and they want all sprint users swapped to T-Mobile sims by the end of the year
So what’s the throttle? A throttle would indicate some kind of speed cap which I am not seeing. Deprioritization maybe but those are very different.

I tried that...tried *#*#873283#, ##873283##, it's not for the Note 20 5G...
The wifi calling, I don't understand...Does wifi calling touch a tower at all..or does it route everything to the wifi connection for the call? It amazes me that after going to town (where I connect to some very good 600/700mhz 5G signal) I have wifi calling for about 20-30 minutes. Maybe even an hour. Then it just goes away.. Might go away on mine...or my wife...or both...but it just quits...and I get the "no mobile network" error...
SCP shows IWLAN..but then says the provider is AT&T. I'm on my PC so I'll add a SS by editing this post from my cell...
I would think that if I'm on Wifi calling, it would show the provider as T-mobile...but maybe not. Never paid much attention to it...
I also don't see anything on my account details page about wifi calling, but it has worked for me since I got the two note 20's (3 days ago)...so I know it's capable of using wifi calling. Just something about being out of service area and trying to use it. I'm leaning towards going back to Sprint SIM on at least one of the two phones (either me or my wife)... just to have a working phone. I'm not sure Tmobile can solve this network connectivity issue quickly/easily..if at all for me in this area..unless they do turn up the 600 power so that it stretches another 3-4 miles towards me..
Dreaming/wishful thinking I suppose..but I hate to switch both SIMs back to Sprint and miss out of the possible upgrades that might happen around me. Seems as though they are moving rather quickly towards getting the network combined.
You won’t miss out on network upgrades going back to a sprint sim.

I know people keep saying that the merger terms say that because it seems logical that they should have, but there is no such commitment in my opinion.
The commitment was to offer plans of equal or better value than plans *currently* being offered at the time of the merger. That commitment is entirely satisfied by the "Exception plans" and nothing more is there in my opinion.
While I definitely understand that I think any language can have a legal workaround.
They took value away from my plan and I cannot replace it for close to the same price. If they take it away at the end of 3 years that’s fine, I understand that. They specifically took advantage of the language of this plan to be able to input a streaming cap when there was never intended to be one. It didn’t have anything to do with the merger terms. If it were then all legacy plans would have gotten the same treatment.

I hate to be pessimistic, but good luck fighting for a nearly decade old plan put together by a company that no longer exists. Just going to have to prepare for the inevitable...you're going to lose that plan eventually
I know it’s a long shot, but according to the merger terms it should of been honored as is. I would be happy with 1080 streaming compared to no throttle currently. Going from no throttle at all to 480 is ridiculous.

oops i meant that you can but its not worth it because of streaming
It just depends on your situation. If you never really leave cities or main roads where coverage is pretty good then there is really no reason to TNX for SA 5g.
If you frequent a place at edge of coverage like I do it may be worth it for SA.
the problem is our plan should not change because of the merger and it does with TNX. When TNX becomes mandatory we have a right to complain about this and I hope everyone here with Everything Data does.

the magenta max is similar to the ed 1500. but the only problem with ed1500 is that you will not get 5g sa because of sprint sim. (that is if you have a 5g phone or will get a 5g phone in the near future)
you should switch to the magenta max.
for me, the the new magenta max is great but its one short of our ed1500. I have the option to buy new phones with 2 year contract pricing. With taxes and fees, I have preordered the 512gb s21 ultra for $971. no trade in or anything.
full retail price is $1379 and with nyc sales tax it comes out to about $1500).
we buy phones every year. one line's contract ended this year, next year the other line's contract ends, and etc.
You can TNX and get SA 5g on ED1500.

Well I looked over my plan...and my ED1500 is still better? Ive got 50GB hotspot, high speed internet in all of Latin America (1GB), free hulu, and the price is about the same?
Only problem is we’re going to have to fight for our HD streaming after TNX.

yea its bs. ive escalated a ticket about the tnx and our plan. it wont go anywhere but its need to be done. i rather have no throttling than xxGB of hotspot, also.
i havent tried the vpn. does it work well? and hows the latency?
Depends on the vpn and the server I believe. Many people use them for his video.
Don’t quit fighting it either. We need all the fussing to possibly get their attention to do something. As for now they will probably just say TNX is optional and you can revert back to sprint sim. Once TNX is not optional, that’s when we need to fight it for sure.

i was on tnx for a very short time because i couldnt handle the streaming. in the future, 5g sa will be widespread but for now nsa is good enough for me... i did love 5g sa when on tnx but my problem is that video streaming is capped.
my streaming on my ed1500 is uncapped.
i have youtube tv and when i need to watch it on the go, it just sucks on tnx. unusable.
i went back on my sprint sim that has 312530 as hplmn.
i didnt see any 312250 whenever i checked the servicemode. when i force b41. it uses the 312530.
tmobile sites come up as 310260.
whats the experiences on multocn and mocn so far, esp streaming?
Same thing I am weighing in my mind. I’m on the same everything data plan. First off it’s bs that they are throttling our video once tnx’d. This needs to be fought. Once TNX is mandatory I will be fighting it.
If that goes no where I will likely eventually TNX and use a vpn to avoid the throttle. The plan feature to cost just isn’t comparable currently. Even paying for a vpn would be cheaper to stay on everything data.

Can MOCN be applied to my account even if I’m on TNX?
No it’s an option when on a sprint sim.

Well, the guy moved my (3) Pixel 4's over to TNA over the phone in a matter of a couple minutes. Those 3 have eSim.
My other 3 devices are not eSim, (2) Pixel 2 XL and 1 S8. He said he is mailing 3 sims for those 3 devices???????
Well if they show up and are T-Mobile sims then your doing TNX not tna.
-
7 hours ago, though said:
I don't think anyone said that. My question was about devices that use physical sim cards and if I can get a TNA one mailed to me for each of those devices.
If your talking about tna then you can have that applied on a sprint sim. You said you moved over the other devices to tna via esim which you don’t have to have esim. TNX is switching SIM cards from a sprint to a T-Mobile sim. Tna is applied to your line when on a sprint sim.

You are saying I can keep the current Sim in my S8 and Pixel 2's and I can get moved to TNA OTA via Chat or a Sprint agent?
It depends if those devices are supported for tna. I’ve never heard anything about esim making a difference for tna.

I moved my 3 Pixel 4's to TNA via eSim. Was a piece of cake.
Just figuring out the easiest way to get my 3 other devices that don't use sSim on to TNA. Don't want TNX in my market yet. Also, Pixel devices aren't compatible for TNX.
You don’t need esim to tna.

is TNA the same as ROAMAHOME then, or essentially the same just with a tmobile sim? plan stays in the sprint system? can i get 5G stand alone with TNA?
TNA and ROAMAHOME are essentially the same. TNX is the sim. Both have trade offs.

Anyone know if Sprint will mail me TNA sim cards for my devices that don't use eSim?
You need a TNX sim and I do believe they will mail you them if you ask.

There are a ton here, and between here and Kansas City. It will of course vary by market.
I hope so. Density is crucial.
-
1 hour ago, RAvirani said:
Increased density, especially in suburbs/exurbs will be a big deal. It's about capacity, not coverage.
For example, assume an existing T-Mobile site is at 70% capacity. Bringing Sprint users onto it will overload it because the demand for data in its coverage footprint will have greatly increased. Brining up a nearby 312-250 site will decrease the T-Mobile site's effective footprint, as certain areas will now be better served by the Sprint site. Now there is enough capacity meet the demand for data.
I've observed T-Mobile bringing up 312-250 sites in this fashion a lot. I'm not sure if they're permanent keep sites or just temporary until T-Mobile makes more progress on their n41 overlay project.
PCS holdings (and maybe BRS/EBS although I'm not sure) should be consolidated between T-Mobile and 312-250 sites by year end (i.e. they will be broadcasting the same PCS carrier). That's the plan until they can get T-Mobile equipment up on those sites.
I guess I’m my market at least I’ve only found a few keep sites. Maybe there’s more than I think.
-
53 minutes ago, RAvirani said:
Correct. They need to bring more 312-250 online to handle the load.
I don’t think the few keep sites are going to make that big of a difference. They are slowly transitioning spectrum from sprint to T-Mobile. That’s what is going to handle the extra traffic.
-
22 minutes ago, though said:
Out of curiosity, why don't they just put everyone on TNA if it enhances the overall network experience?? T-Mobile network isn't quite ready for the influx?
They want to transition people slowly and they also are encouraging TNX because they want you off your sprint sim.

I assume the 25% includes TNX and tna?
The 4 million referring to TNX specifically?

I'm curious to see how that toggle works. When you click it, does it automatically force your phone into a 5G only mode or does it just allow your phone to use 5G standalone when outside of PCS/AWS coverage?
It's kinda confusing because the description that Apple gives makes it seems like it's a VoNR switch. If that's the case then I'd expect an announcement from T-Mobile about that shortly in addition to the activation of nationwide n41 SA.
Edit: It looks like the February security update for the Pixel 5 enabled 5G SA on T-Mobile as well.
Your probably right. It’s probably indicating one of the carriers will announce stand alone once this update launches.

So 4 of us on our plan upgraded our phones through the website on a sprint legacy plan when the new iPhones came out. When we checked out it allowed us to have the trade in credit and a $10 monthly service credit per line on the invoice when checking out. Because of that we purchased 4 new phones 3 with trade ins and all four showed the service credit on the invoice in checkout.
Now a few months later i was told those credits won’t stack and only 1 service credit added to the bill which pretty much confirms it. How should I go about fighting this now to get my other 3 $10 credits? I have the invoice emails that have all credits shown and subtracted from the monthly cost I was supposed to pay.

The way you originally said it and what your saying now are totally different. You said it was information from a T-Mobile employee. Throttling a sprint sim and congestion on the sprint network are very different things.
