  1. Weird how they've already done all of the metro and state rankings for 1H 2022 but the national ranking is only on 2H 2021.
  2. Not sure how we missed this but looks like T-Mobile hasn't given up on mmWave in NYC:
  3. I've got another mountaintop keep site. Once again not close to NYC but it was part of Sprint's NYC market. Sprint eNB 6485 Location: 41.3382970073722, -73.89405515892796
  4. I've always hated the split eNBs. They make it that much harder to track upgrades of sites and more importantly it also makes it slightly worse for carrier aggregation. While T-Mobile has enabled the ability to aggregate bands across eNBs, it seems like the network avoids doing that as much as possible.
  5. I wish carriers did spectrum swaps as often as they did in the past. Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile could easily swap and fix this issue. AT&T can take the entire PCS A-block giving them a contiguous 15MHz as opposed to the split 10+5 they currently have, Verizon could take both the D and B block and keep the contiguous 20MHz they have now, and T-Mobile could take over the E,F, and C block which would give them a contiguous 30MHz with the G-block instead of the 25+5 they have now. I wouldn't be surprised if Verizon is the only holdout in this because this swap would benefit AT&T and T-Mobile but would leave them in a net neutral position as their 20MHz of PCS is already contiguous.
  6. I'm still getting Band 26 and Band 41 from keep sites in Crown Heights and Bay Ridge. I haven't seen any Band 25 though. I'm starting to think T-Mobile shut down Sprint's PCS spectrum here. I wonder if we'll get 5MHz Band 25 + 5MHz n25 carrier or if we'll just get 2 5MHz n25 carriers.
  7. Went up to Woodbury again and it looks like the Archdiocese and NW Spectrum LLC are hampering T-Mobile's ability to expand beyond 40MHz still. Band 41 is still alive and well on Sprint in Orange County. I was seeing 20MHz of Band 41 on both Sprint and T-Mobile. n41 is still at 40MHz unfortunately with no sign of a second n41 carrier anywhere. — — — — — eNB 9410 is broadcasting the keep PLMN (40.593228859741565, -73.99464719142064) Also Sprint eNB 9352 by Woodbury Common is broadcasting the keep PLMN. I'm 95% sure it's the site located on top of the mountain at (41.30338235034396, -74.1144901073151).
  8. The Verge wrote an article on Dish’s network. https://www.theverge.com/2022/7/1/23188077/dish-wireless-project-genesis-first-week-testing-speeds-coverage
  9. Still seeing 310-120 in my area. It looks like they have started turning it off or at least blocking connections to it on a lot of sites nationwide though.
  10. T-Mobile once again showing that their macro density is a force to be reckoned with. I found a keep site in Brooklyn that's on the same block as an existing T-Mobile site. They're <500ft from each other but the sectors face away from each other to minimize interference. T-Mobile eNB 875364 (40.63328556538357, -74.02370674293812)
  11. Signals Research Group just completed their 25th 5G NR benchmark study and released a preview of their findings in their newsletter. They tested Dish's and T-Mobile's 5G networks in Las Vegas. Here are the key takeaways: https://signalsresearch.com/issue/5g-the-greatest-show-on-earth-25/
  12. T-Mobile's first win ever in PCMag's Best Mobile Networks test: https://www.pcmag.com/news/best-mobile-networks-2022
  13. If I had to guess, it probably just allows T-Mobile to achieve parity with AT&T with regard to their roaming deal with Dish. Potentially a lot of money in this deal for T-Mobile. The CMO of T-Mobile said;
  14. DISH and T-Mobile Expand Network Services Partnership https://about.dish.com/2022-06-21-DISH-and-T-Mobile-Expand-Network-Services-Partnership
  15. T‑Mobile Expands Coverage Above and Beyond Its Own Maps https://www.t-mobile.com/news/un-carrier/coverage-beyond Amazing that it took them this long to leverage the fact that they're a DT company to get better roaming deals in countries where DT operates a network. This is probably what'll finally get me to upgrade to Magenta Max. I'm also glad to see that they dropped Gogo and went to the airlines themselves to get deals on in-flight WiFi.
  16. According to https://historiccellcoverage.com, nope. Verizon has effectively stopped deployment of DSS 5G altogether and is only expanding C-band. I think they realized that it's simply not worth the overhead and loss in network efficiency. They just need to focus on getting as many 5G devices into as many people's hands as possible and getting the majority of their network traffic on 5G like T-Mobile. Only then can they begin actually repurposing spectrum from LTE to 5G. I also think that Verizon is comfortable with not expanding n5 because they know it'll make their average 5G speeds and reliability look much better when Ookla and OpenSignal test it. Their average speeds nationwide can't be dragged down by areas where they only have Band/n5 if most of their customers only connect to C-band and occasionally mmWave. It reminds me of the early days of 5G when Verizon was able to claim they had the "world's fastest 5G network" back when they only deployed mmWave. They were correct due to a technicality, but it was slightly misleading.
  17. I literally have a pic of that same small cell that I took on Saturday lol. I couldn’t remember if anyone had already posted it or not.
  18. T‑Mobile Tops 3 Gbps with World’s First Standalone 5G Carrier Aggregation Achievement
  19. Keep PLMN is broadcasting on eNB 896562 in Jamaica Queens. Location: 40.70607685304306, -73.8065914654994
  20. I was checking out street view and came across this small cell in Breezy Point. Looks like it has been there since at least 2019. I wonder what carrier it is?
  21. You have no idea how much this is gonna help me going forward. I took a look around streetview at sites where I already knew the carrier and your descriptions map perfectly. T-Mobile has that deal with Crown Castle to upgrade something like 30,000 small cells nationwide. My best guess is that not adding the omnidirectional antenna was just them planning ahead for when they'd need to add midband 5G along with the shroud on top of them.
  22. T-Mobile n77 permit in Los Angeles Neville stated last week that n77 deployment would start in 2023 with a capacity-driven approach meaning the sites that need it most would get C-band and DoD spectrum first. Looks like it's starting earlier than anticipated. Neville has also stated in the past that T-Mobile would be waiting on a 2-in-1 that would allow them to broadcast C-band and DoD spectrum through a single antenna. I wonder why they chose to just deploy C-band separately here.
  23. Confirmed keep sites: T-Mobile eNB 880422 (40.771888512069, -73.95341047716771) T-Mobile eNB 875262 (40.770453233497975, -73.96166537108597) — — — — — Turns out you don't need the little antenna on the top lol. This site hasn't had one since it was built out last summer. I was seeing 5CA for a total of 100MHz of spectrum from this small cell. Band 2 + Band 66 + 3 x Band 46. Speeds weren't that impressive but it does fill in a coverage hole so it's likely acting as a mini-macro for that block. — — — — — I also wanted to say that AT&T's C-band deployment is moving insanely fast. I kept spotting Nokia n77 antennas all over the place. I'd guess that they probably have a larger C-band footprint in Manhattan than Verizon at this point. It's too bad they haven't started DoD spectrum deployment yet. It'd give them an immediate boost over Verizon in the near term though from what I'm seeing on Cellmapper, they aren't exactly lacking in the speed department. They're aggregating 40MHz of LTE with 40MHz of n77 on average and getting peak speeds comparable to T-Mobile and Verizon. Loving this competition!
  24. T-Mobile sure hopes no one notices any difference with 5G VoNR Looks like T-Mobile is done beefing up their LTE network. Now that CDMA is gone they're gonna use that 5MHz of spectrum for n25.
  25. Saw a new Extenet small cell in Cobble Hill on Van Brunt but didn't stop for a pic. I also saw this Extenet small cell while driving through Ridgewood two weeks ago. I also visited the Mobilitie small cell in Harlem that was posted on Reddit over a month ago but didn't get anything from T-Mobile so I'm not certain who is on it or if it's even live.
