I disagree.

600 MHz would have enabled Sprint to have a more efficient build and cover wider swaths of land including rural areas than a 2.5 GHz deployment provides, and in the short term, that could really help.

We kept hearing from Sprint that 2.5 GHz was more cost efficient to deploy than Millimeter Wave. That’s true... However, the real truth/dirt came out in the FCC Filing and Congressional Hearing that Sprint couldn’t actually achieve an economically viable nationwide build on its 2.5 GHz and that combining with T-Mobile for its 600 MHz was essential.

Meanwhile, T-Mobile is deploying 600 MHz across the country at tremendous speed.

Of course we were told by the CFO of Sprint at the time (https://www.fiercewireless.com/wireless/sprint-cfo-robbiati-600-mhz-spectrum-past)

“Why invest in 600 MHz spectrum if that spectrum doesn’t really cater for the future, and also it’s spectrum you cannot deploy for four years?” Robbiati asked rhetorically.

Sigh...

What's stopping Sprint from adding B26 to no coverage areas and rural areas? Yes it is only 5x5, however that is still better than no service.

2. Well they have B41 active in Alamogordo. Cant connect at my house though.( had no problems with WiMAX). Kind of disappointed. Was hoping this would unburdened B25. My speed are barely reaching 3mb down.

If you had no problem with wimax, then I'm surprised your not getting B41 for LTE, as a remaining Clearwire Site.

I have been seeing some new B41 and B26 pop up around the Rochester market lately.  On a second note I have noticed the Sprint map can be inaccurate a lot especially in upstate NY, one prime example is BU72XC653(different market but that one has been active for a couple of years now). I sometimes wonder if the periodic updates on Sprint's website really reflect any changes, I mean I am sure it does I just don't look in the right areas I am sure.

Why does Rochester have for B25 Bandwidth? I'm just curious. They should hold a full 20x20. So 15x15 is possible

4. I'm surprised they even do mini macros. In my market every b41 tower that has it is full build.
They do them in some areas cause it cheaper for B41 and some areas with B26 to fill on coverage Gaps. Only problem with them is on B41 it can only do 2xca. So to do 3xca would require a macro same with B26 ones to add 25/41 would require to Macro.

http://newsroom.sprint.com/triband-upgrades.htm According to Sprint’s Head of Network Deployment & Operations: “We now have 2.5 GHz deployed on roughly 60% of our macro sites and expect to complete the substantial majority of our tri-band upgrades by the end of fiscal 2018.”

Does this include sites with NO LTE? I've been to areas where the network drops to 3G. Either towers with no LTE or poor site spaceing. Yes I know Site spaceing doesn't have anything to do with that I'm just saying.

6. Sorry guys, it's been a while since I've posted but this is the one I was talking about from my last two posts. I took this on May 4th and it still looks the same. It seems as if they installed power to the equipment but I haven't noticed a difference at home. I don't think it's active yet. Still on LTE 25 -110 at home.676cdba1c8c7e0e6439a074ad4771e15.jpg

Since Tim liked this pic I take it that's a Sprint Small cell?

7. Just found out. Its HPUE!

Wow I've been wondering what that means also. So if I turned that off would I really notice a difference on B41?

8. While you were at the Sprint store you should have compared the Sprint S9 to see if speeds are different. See if this works. Dial ##data# go to view, LTE and go down to B25 TM9 and see if it's enabled or not.

I got better speeds with this one in Hartford South Dakota. That one is either congested or not enough Backhaul.d1ec349535cfa0bfa0b509484d7879a6.jpgfb8285d48e8a46b26e5eb37580e4ba6c.jpg

9. Weird stuff there in Rapid City.  Sprint has enough EBS spectrum to run a few 20MHz channels there.  I'm not sure why they are doing 5MHz channels.  Additionally, I see B25 channels in the Neighbor List.  Which, based on the PCI numbers, these are from the Golden West Wireless sites that are broadcasting B25 G block.

Of interesting note...the SCP B41 connection shown on PCI 6 is not the Rapid City Protection Site.  It is the Downtown Rapid City Golden West site on the roof of a 9 story office tower, north facing sector.  So this is the first evidence we have seen that the Golden West sites in Rapid City that host Sprint frequencies have deployed B41 also.  The Neighbor List also says it shows the Golden West site in NW Rapid City near Deadwood and I-90 and the Golden West Site in South Rapid City near Skyline and US 16.  Where Tengen31 was at when he tok that screenshot, it did not see the Rapid City Protection Site in the Neighbor List.

Furthermore, even more interesting, the screen shot of the Engineering Screen shows PCI 450.  Which IS THE RAPID CITY PROTECTION SITE.  This is the same PCI reported to me when B41 went live in the Protection Site a few months ago.  He was standing right beneath the tower at that time.  So Tengen31 was connected to the Protection Site when that screen shot was taken.

Another interesting note...Golden West Wireless controls most of the BRS spectrum in Rapid City.  Since Sprint and GWW have a contract already, it seems like they could work out something for 20MHz channels in BRS if they couldn't do it in EBS.  The 5MHz channels are a huge mystery to me.

Tengen31, do you know exactly where you were in Rapid when you took each of those screenshots?  Additionally, any chance you can run CellMapper and Sensorly while you are in Rapid, if you're still there? default_fingers.gif

One spot is near the Rushmore mall. I90 is also got it. I have not seen the G block tho

10. Center frequency 1939.4 MHz so upper part of A block. The entirety of the PCS A block 1930-1945 is owned by Sprint. Shown on the interactive maps.. [emoji4]

Is this from Swiftel or a new Sprint site?

I wasn't sure if this had been reported or not. Now if only Sprint had the rest of i90 covered. I'm using att hotspot to get internet access.
