  1. Also wanted to note my experience at State Fair this year. It is a little better this year, can actually use voice service, but texting, data, picture messaging was unusable. I was sitting most of the time with just a regular voice signal. I did pick up LTE on the south side of the grounds, but it was not usable. This is to be expected from such a large event, just wanted to share my experience.

  2. For what I do and pay, I don't need more.  I'm just concerned that B26 in Milwaukee is going to be more filled up when everyone has a Spark device and speeds will suffer.

I don't think any of the optimization has even started yet. I never hold on to a B26 connection for more then a few minutes. There are still alot of holes with no LTE at all in the SE Wisconsin area compared to the competition. I think tower location is a pretty big issue for Sprint in this area.

  3. They have no choice but to wait. I am in the Milwaukee area and my phone is on 3G still way to much. The coverage map shows LTE everywhere because it is there (only B25 for the most part), but they need to get B41 and B26 fully deployed so they can optimize the network. I was in Tampa, FL over the 4th of July and i can say that was a fantastic Sprint experience. Can't wait till i get that performance at home.

  4. If it doesn't work this time, don't call, open a ticket with Ting online. lilotimz is right, I had to do this procedure with one of my in-law's phone.  MEIDs in Sprint's system are either locked to "wholesale" (i.e. MVNO) or "corporate" (Sprint itself).  For whatever reason, no one at Sprint seems to know how to switch between them and Ting doesn't remove it from the wholesale list unless you specifically ask them to.

Awesome, thanks for the heads up. I have created the ticket. Hopefully if anyone else is on Ting and they see this, it will help them get their Nexus 5 back on Sprint should they switch back.

  5. You need to ask ting to release the imei back to sprint.

Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk

    Thanks for the response lilotimz,

I called Ting and nothing is holding it back according to them. The Sprint store was using the hex version of the MEID/IMEI to try and activate, but they may have had to use the dec version of the number for it to work. I'm going to have them try both tonight after work.

  6. So i have attempted to switch back to Sprint from Ting. I wanted to lower my bill about 6 months ago and i switched to Ting which has been a great experience. Now that i have been using my device more, i decided to switch back to Sprint on a Framily plan. The problem is my old account is in the Sprint system still and my Nexus 5 can't be activated for some reason. The Sprint system is not taking my MEID/IMEI. I have been to the Sprint store a few times and have talked to ALOT of Sprint reps in Finance, Sales, and Customer service. The funny thing is, ATT and Tmobile have no issues when i put in the IMEI on their sites to activate service. Seems to be a Sprint side issue. Im going to a Sprint Corporate store tonight, but im doubtful they will get this figured out. So frustrating...

  7. Yea, for the most part, I'm pretty happy with the improvements. I generally have LTE most places I go and there are still some towers around the Milwaukee area that haven't received LTE upgrades yet. The B26 LTE really helped alot. But I never have text message issues or voice issues. Data is generally good too, keeping in mind some towers aren't broadcasting LTE at all yet, and a bunch more are still only broadcasting 1900Mhz. So once all are LTE accepted and broadcasting 800Mhz LTE, I'll be golden.

I think my experience has been a bit worse than yours. I fully understand that our market is no where near complete, but i still believe my phone is on 3G too much. Overall, i would say i am disappointed in the lack of progress in our market. When i do have LTE it always seems to be 1-2 bars and I am still having to toggle airplane mode to get on 4G sometimes. Hopefully it will ramp up again soon and get better.

Now, i am currently writing this from Tampa, FL. I can tell you that if Sprint can get the Milwaukee market to the quality of the Tampa market, we will be in HEAVEN! I can not believe how plentiful B41 LTE is here in Tampa. I am NEVER on a 3G signal, its either B41 or B26 LTE, and it is spectacular!

    aackmann,

I saw your post in the Sponsor forum regarding the spottiness of the current LTE deployment in MKE. I kind of feel the same way as you. I want to believe the same as you that Sprint will have a better LTE footprint then what has been shown. Sprint is still fine tuning the towers in Waukesha, there is evidence of this as i am picking up a signal that is a couple miles away inside my house. The thing is...i have the Nexus 5. I think having a solid RF Tri-band phone is going to be key in getting good reception. Also, there are still quite a few towers that need to be completed to get the full effect. I say wait it out a few more months to see where it goes. I really think once Sprint gets the market complete we will see what its true potential is.

  9. And of course the comments are 100% negative.  At least on Cnet (regarding the 70 newly announced Sprint LTE cities).  I don't get it.  I have great 1900 mhz LTE coverage everywhere I live, work, play and travel.  Am I the only one?  Or are these people posting grammatically incoherent comments just perpetual negative Nancys?

It is truly sad how many people really hate Sprint. I did not think it was that bad till i saw all those news sites with the negative comments. If Sprint wants customers they almost need to rebrand the company.

  10. Im really curious to see how long Sprint sticks with EVDO. It is a thorn in what could be a great device experience. I don't understand why my device will switch from LTE to 3G when the LTE signal is 4 times faster and with a much lower ping. Im talking about around a -95 EVDO signal vs a -105 LTE signal. Why would Sprint want me to be on slow 3G? I don't really believe the arguments suggesting that with NV my speeds will be much better on 3G...because they are not. Even if i get a 1+mbps 3G connection...LTE at low signal strength is still superior. LTE is just far and away better than 3G, i should be able to turn off 3G completely once the Milwaukee market is complete.
