  1. However I like to point out that the result's from the Guggenheim museum of 27.9 Mbps might indicate it was B41. I still hope I'm wrong though. But "IF" it was a spark S4, Sprint definitely have some calibration to do. For some reason that S4 stayed parked on B25 all day. I never got good speeds from the UES anyway even on B25, so I find it weird they got any thing above 10 Mbps.

  2. The quote doesn't mean anything. I bet if I call and say that I ran tests of their Spark in Denver and quote them some slow speeds, I figure she would say the same thing. I doubt she would ask me to prove to her I was using Spark. She is just repeating the canned response...we are under construction, not everywhere yet, and it will get better.Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro

True. That was just a speculation I have, I could be wrong. I still agree with u and doubt the sprint S4 was B41 capable.

  3. Nevertheless sprint has some work to do. Quoted from the article.

"As for Sprint, the carrier was obviously disappointed in its results. Kelly Schlageter, manager of corporate communications at Sprint, provided the following statement: “Sprint Spark is in the early stages of deployment in New York City, and so it’s not available everywhere. As the footprint fills in, we expect speeds to increase significantly. Sprint Spark is capable of delivering peak wireless peak data speeds of up to 60 Mbps today and potential speeds three times that fast by late 2015.”

This tells me that maybe they happen to use a Spark capable S4 and Sprint knew about the article being done. So hopefully Sprint can prove themselves soon.

  4. Why is it very upsetting? It paints a picture for a moment in time. The author admits that other carriers are rapidly getting into the game. Sprint does realize (well at least Masa) that it really has to get a move on with regards to the competition.

I agree with u. However it is upsetting to me that spark is getting a bad reputation in the public eye but we all know in here its true potential. I mean I hate telling someone to go with sprint based on our tri-band knowledge and then they happen to read that article and I end up looking like an idiot.

  5. It is definitely worth a go to flash .15 radio. It is fairly stable and can connect to B41 with minimal fuss. The sooner you do it the better, as more and more B25 sites go live the less chances you will latch onto B41 sites. The weaker the B25 signal is, the better chances that you will connect to a B41 site.

I do recommend that you consider becoming a premiere member, there is a treasure trove of information related to all the B41 and B26 and of course B25 deployment

    .

Thanks for the info but I'm kind of clueless about flashing my N5 and can't seem to directly find out how to do it anywhere here on this forum. And I'm definitely down with becoming a sponsor. Can u point in the right direction? I would appreciate it. Thanks

  6. On .15 radio for the nexus 5 and it will fluctuate between 76 to 90 dbm in my apartment with drop off as you get closer to the bathroom which is situated in what would be the main hallway to other apartments so no lte there until another closer cell site is swtichTed on or band 26. As I mentioned in had the e/csfb issues until yesterday so switch between the HTC max and nexus 5 to confirm that it was still receiving Sprint signal for 1x voice not just lte data on te nexus 5. With the max picking up the band 25 properly I stopped receiving the band 41 tower as it on at best propagated at 112dbm the band 25 is about 15-25 dbm stronger when factoring signal noise. So no more band 41 inside but hand offs outside are seamless and it's wonderful but I am sure it's not complete yet as but the issues of congestion remain. I am happy the towers are finally performing that are online as they should! Bronx has one of the densest population per square mile so it's going to need better attention once all is said and done with first round of work.

Where in the Bronx are you? Your experience sounds parallel to mines. Except I'm not on the .15 radio on my N5. Don't know how or if I want to flash it.

  7. The chances seem pretty slim that we will see another carrier before band 26. Its becoming a catch 22 in the Bronx where B25 is becoming more prevalent and overburdened, leaving my phone to connect less and less to B41(until the Spark update)

Grrr! Darn update what's taking so long?!

  8. It also depends on what phone you have.

So I was just wondering why I don't connect to 800 after the towers went to 4g? I know they are and I connected before but not any more. Not really a big deal but just curious if there is a logical reason why. Thanks

Interesting, I was wondering why it always snapped back to 1xRTT. What if you're out of range of 1xRTT, it must be possible to idle on 1x800 in certain circumstances right?

Im wondering why if my 1xRTT is weak at lets say -105 dbm, when should it switch over to 1x800 to get a more stable connection?

  9. Do you have issues with Voice? -100dBm is considered usable for voice, but at the edge of coverage. Regardless, I highly recommend the Nexus 5, especially with the .15 radio installed. You will freely pickup Band 41 and get crazy speeds! on top of the 1x800.

Lots of calls dropping its frustrating. What is .15 radio?
