  1. Does being on band 41 increase data usage? I was analyzing my data usage and noticed a drastic spike in data usage from 3 GB in May to 9 GB starting in June after the 4.4.3 update. I know having faster speeds mean more usage but i know I haven't been using my phone much differently since the update.

  2. This was by Main st and Weyman ave. I was picking up stuff I needed from Home Depot.

It would be even better if B26 were ready by Regal New Roc Movie complex, its my go to spot for movies, best screens around, parking and decent crowd.

Ridge hill is nice also. Tho, I'm not sure how Sprint is performing over there
  3. How is wifi calling a big advantage for T mobile. I have been making wifi calls since 2010 with Google voice. LOL talk about misinformation. Anyone using Google voice can make wifi calls for free.,

Im curious, how are you making WiFi calls on GV? I was using Groove IP app but GV stopped supporting it.
  4. Band 4. It seems both have their areas that are good and bad. T-Mobile has the advantage of 10x10 in NYC and in your case they also have a stronger signal.

And to clarify I was not getting any LTE in my house until a month ago where I started seeing B26 in my living room and B41 in my bedroom. I have very thick walls and i think T-Mo has a site a block away from my house. Outside of my home Sprint mostly performs better than T-Mo out here in the Bronx.

  5. not really unless is a nexus5. you will have a cripple phone, i connected my g2 to t-mobile but lte does not work, the only way we gonna see changes in the cellphone industry is if cell makers start building phones with every band possible and now you will have companies fighting for your money

This is true and that's why the nexus 5 exist. All phones should be like the nexus 5. In my case I own my nexus 5 outright and only pay $50 a month on the framily plan with everything unlimited and have the freedom to try T-Mo or AT&T should I need to. This is the reason why these no contract plans exist.
  6. oh yeah, you can finance, but it's going to negate any savings you'd have in selecting T-Mobile over Sprint, at least for the 2 years or so you'll be paying off those phones.

At least you have the FREEDOM of paying off your phone and taking it to the carrier that offers the best network in your area without being tied to a 2 year contract
  7. That's dope! My dad is a bus operator too. He isn't as technically inclined as I am though, otherwise I'd have him run Sensorly while he drives the bus in Queens.

Lol I do feel like the oddball among my coworkers. I am the go to guy when it comes to tech tho. I have been running sensorly on my entire route where I have been getting great service all along it. Both terminal points where I take my breaks are 206 & Bway and Bay plaza have great B41 service. Great for YouTube and Netflix. Reason why I'm not picking out of the bx12 route. A year ago service was horrible in those 2 locations granted I had a GS3.

  8. Checking out the new mall in bay plaza in the bronx first one of its kind in 40 years in nyc(awesome btw)and service in and around the shopping center is all B41 with great speeds. Indoors speeds are pretty good jumping between B25 n 26. It really is great to be on sprint right now in nyc.

I see you came by my hood. How did u enjoy the traffic? I drive the Bx12 so I'm there everyday and have been getting great service there for a few months now. It may have to do with the new Sprint corporate store inside the mall.

  9. Clear site spacing is not perfect considering its propagation characteristics. But it is going to fulfill the grand majority of the population's needs in NYC. But of course, there will always be that small percentage that is not covered, and he just so happens to be in that minority. Looking at the Clear maps does indicate that its the ONLY area that lacks B41 towers near by.

That's why we have such wildly different experiences, what I can tell you, Sprint is about to catch up and pass T mobile in overall speed on Netindex in Manhattan.

Also as a side note, the GS5 does not have the best radio performance in comparison to other tri-band devices.

Nice technical explanation of his problem. But unfortunately some people see the glass half empty.
  10. saying I was on something other than band 25 for a stretch of approximately 5 blocks and 2 avenues makes me hard to please? come on, man.

Sorry if I offended you, I was under the impression that a tri-band android phone wasn't good enough for you. For a lot of us in here it has been a great experience. I know in some areas the network is still need work but is nice to have access to B41.
  11. I had no intention of buying the Galaxy S5, I simply needed the use of a tri-band device to test for myself the accessibility of bands 26 and 41 in the areas where I most use my device. sadly, I only found band 41 in one small pocket of my normal use area and was connected only to band 25 the rest of the time. I also consider myself largely at fault for even trying out a tri-band device now because I misunderstood what some people here had said about the deployment of the upgraded network. until the upgrade is active, it doesn't seem as if the neighborhoods I'm normally in are going to be any better no matter what device I'm using.

I'm sorry tri-band did not work out for you, I guess you are hard to please. As we have seen in here upgrades to the network have been made with great success in many places of NYC and many upgrades are yet to come. If you are confined to using an iPhone on Sprint then Hopefully the iPhone 6 will get tri-band access and B26 B41 will be more prevalent in your areas very soon. Its noticeable that Sprint is building a better experience, Don't loose faith.
  12. oh dear god no. biggest piece of junk ever. I'll wait until the iPhone 6 comes out. never going back to Android.

For me its the opposite i had an iphone 4s then I got a gs3, now I got a nexus 5 and I'm enjoying B41 70+mbps. iOS is a communism, android is democracy. My N5 offers me the freedom to change carriers by simply changing the sim and enjoy the best LTE Sprint, T-Mo and At&t have to offer, Something you can't do with the 5s or the GS5. I would never go back to iOS.

Never rooted my nexus and have zero maintenance problems. Its fair to say that android OS is not what what it use to be, specially when in stock form. IMHO is very comparable to iOS stability. No OS is perfect, both have their issues.

I hate when people automatically associate galaxy to android like is the same thing, or how galaxy is the go to phone when switching from iOS. What I don't understand is why would you try out the GS5 having a bad experience with galaxy phones in the past. Galaxy's main problem is touchwiz, you should have tried an N5 or M8. To each it's own I guess.
