  1. by my count, and the data in this site, 105 of 252 (42%) sites in Puerto Rico have been upgraded/accepted by Sprint over the past two months, 58% of the sites left. that rate is not bad, almost half of all the sites in the island in two months!
  2. my brother called in to Sprint regarding the issues in the Metro area, they told him it should be solved in two parts, one on the 19th (tomorrow), and the other on the 22nd... we all know that's probably not happening, but I hope it's solved within the next week or two
  3. looks good, can't wait 'till they roll out in the metro area, and 'till we get LTE
  4. at first I thought it was my phone, but now I think it's probably related to NV work... seems unlikely that all the sites in Bayamon, Guaynabo and San Juan would be stuck at 1x at the same time
  5. work will probably start soon in these areas, if it hasn't already... it's just a matter of time before the LTE indicator starts lighting up on our phones, maybe even while they're testing the install
  6. I just don't know what to think... I got the Evo LTE in May, but I've noticed some issues with it getting stuck on 1x on and off since July or August, we also have an original Evo 4G and a 3D at home, and those don't seem to have those problems. right now the solution seems to just keep on keeping on, hopefully NV is close to rolling out in the area, like kendog mentioned thanks again everyone!
  7. today I feel like throwing my Evo LTE against a wall, it simply will not connect to EVDO. numerous profile and PRL updates, and even ##786# factory resets later, it's still connected to 1xRTT... short of returning it to stock and getting it to a store (which I'm trying to avoid), anybody have any ideas? having issues all the way from Hato Rey to Bayamon, so I'm thinking it's more a handset issue, rather than a network problem
  8. he's probably referring to the widely reported issues with Apple Maps and their imagery
  9. is there any info or estimates as to how many sites Sprint has in PR or the PR/VI market? just trying to roughly guess-timate how long until I see guys working on the tower near my house ! edit: just read it in the comments for the main PR article, just in case anyone's wondering, Robert posted: " 266 in the market. 14 of them are in the USVI." thanks again Robert!!
  10. a big +1 for a DD-WRT configured repeater, not only for conveniently placing the Airave in a nice spot near a window, but for also extending WiFi range to all rooms in the house
  11. that doesn't sound so bad, then! the Airave is a huge help when at home and it seems the network's better in your area than mine, good luck with the new phone !
  12. it'd probably be more useful if we had WiMax coverage down here, but there's only the randomly located protection sites
  13. that doesn't sound like a fair trade, sounds a bit more like a downgrade, the Epic 4G Touch does not have LTE, right? nonetheless, I hope you have a better experience with the Epic, I know what it's like stuck with sub-200k speeds
  14. probably also because there are less sites in those areas than for example in Mayagüez, Ponce, San Juan, Bayamón or Guaynabo so they can get done with them much faster and easier
  15. it'll be a great day (for me) when Bayamon, Guaynabo or San Juan start appearing in kendog's status updates!!
  16. +1 on that, I used to get 1.7 Mbps on average when I had my Touch Pro, and still around 1 Mbps when I had the Hero. the smartphone adoption rate has been very noticeable, reflected in the decline of speeds to even dial-up speeds in some places.
  17. now that does definitely look like a speed test on my phone, though not with that astronomically high ping time. that's crazy! is that on 1x or truly 3G Ev-DO like the statusbar indicator say?
  18. I've had sub-300 kbps speeds for the last 18 months, don't think waiting a few more months is that bad
  19. only NFC terminals I've seen, have been at Walgreens. I actually spent $6 of the $10 on the Google card at some vending machines in Orlando during the summer, coolest thing ever! haven't been able to add a personal card, which does work for purchasing from the Play Store, I just may end up calling their 800 number and see if they can help,
  20. slightly off-topic post: do any of you use Google Wallet? I can't add my card, and wanted to know if somebody had been able to get it working with a PR address...
  21. they definitely do ship here, I have one at home and didn't pay for it, you just need a rep that knows his stuff and is willing to play ball, which may be the hard part. good luck!
