  1. eHRPD on a site doesn't mean the site is running on the new backhaul.. I get eHRPD on a tower near my house, with a blistering 98kbps download speed Sent from my Galaxy S III using Tapatalk 2
  2. that's all it's capable of, there's no eHRPD, and obviously no LTE on Airaves
  3. they're not deploying new WiMax, keyword is consolidation, the NV strategy was that the three frequencies that Sprint operates from separate sites (2.5 Ghz WiMax sites were separate from the 1900 Mhz CDMA sites, and those in turn separate from the 800 Mhz sites) would be running on a single site if necessary
  4. I've honestly got no idea (and no sources or inside info), but judging from what we've seen, a site marked as complete may just be that the equipment installation has been inspected and accepted. in this case, "complete" and "functioning" are not the same...
  5. an update on new sites accepted by Sprint, in the sponsor section of the site
  6. NV upgrade complete doesn't really mean the site is online and broadcasting and I got 20 kbps on an eHRPD site (obviously using the old backhaul), so I got you guys beat by almost 200 kbps
  7. there you go, there's always a simpler way to do something thanks osva !
  8. if you're seeing eHRPD with slow speeds, check your Network ID; NID 200 is apparently seen on NV upgraded and completed towers, NID 1 seems to be the old backhaul... on HTCs, using dialer code *#*#4636#*#* displays it, I'm not sure where to check it on Samsung devices (I think it should be somewhere in the ##DEBUG# menu...)
  9. everybody's entitled to their own opinion, but personally, I find that Sprint's upgraded 3G and LTE are gonna be way more useful and appealing, being unlimited, than whatever speeds AT&T has on HSPA+ and LTE with their data cap. like I said, this is just my opinion and how I see it EDIT: just because of curiosity, I checked my data usage for this month at Sprint.com, and despite having sub-500k speeds and no LTE yet at most places I'm at and exclusively using Wifi at home, I've used almost 1 Gig of 3G data and 300 megs of 4G data. low bandwidth/high usage beats high bandwidth/limited usage any day in my book.
  10. was it an AT&T iPhone? I think it identifies the HSPA+ network (which is still 3G) as 4G, their Android phones do the same as well like I said, it's all marketing, some carriers more than others...
  11. just marketing, carriers call "4G" their LTE, and previously Sprint did with their WiMax as well. though there are also debates if LTE is really 4G or not, one of the specific requirements for 4G classification by the ITU is: "Have peak data rates of up to approximately 100 Mbit/s for high mobility such as mobile access and up to approximately 1 Gbit/s for low mobility such as nomadic/local wireless access." but that's an issue for another day... more info at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/4G
  12. I just don't know if I should laugh or cry ... there's no doubt that work at this site hasn't been completed yet
  13. it could be work being done, could be other things... right now Hato Rey doesn't have 3G data, and there's many areas right now in the Metro area with data issues as well, we're all in the same boat, let's just chill and wait for it to be completed
  14. I saw an Ericsson van today at the tower near my house, there's been lots of vehicles working at the site the past two weeks, but considering that Samsung's the OEM for the PR/VI market, they could've been working for some other carrier (I know that AT&T also has equipment at this site). Sent from my Evo 4G LTE using Tapatalk 2
  15. LTE is definitely coming soon, after having only 1X service on Monday and Tuesday, today I found most of the towers on my drive to class are broadcasting eHRPD (Bayamon to Hato Rey) Sent from my Evo 4G LTE using Tapatalk 2
  16. who knows... it's certainly possible; Claro just launched their LTE network without it being 100% complete, and Sprint has launched lot of markets in the US, with none of them being 100% complete either by my math and using the info in this site, almost 60% of the sites have been accepted by Sprint; the official launch of the LTE network in PR within the next 2 weeks to a month sounds like a very real possibility
  17. are there any special steps required to get NetMonitor to display the towers? I've run it, and doesn't display any towers around me. thanks guys
  18. strictly speaking it's not a list, just points on a map, and no, the only one completed in the map is the one at Mayagüez Mall
  19. HUGE update this week with 40 new sites! looking at the map, they're getting closer to the site near my home, I've also seen vehicles working at this site, so hopefully they're working on NV deployment
  20. Sensorly just got updated in the Play Store, among the changes it says that LTE signal reading is now displayed in dB and dBm in the details screen
  21. that's too bad, 800 Mhz should have better building penetration than 1900 Mhz, right? it would be useful here, considering 99% of all construction here is brick and mortar, cement kills signal down here... hopefully down the road they solve whatever issue prevents 800 Mhz deployment in the island
