  1. DT cant sell its shares for 18 months I believe. Does this mean any fi alized agreement is at least that far out? Also would it be worth it right away with the combined debt?

  2. I still have the eerie feeling that tis will be just like the Wimax rollout. Kind of sort of implemented and a lot of customers left in the lurch. It seems really strange to start an area and then leave it half completed or a quarter completed and then move somewhere else. If the spottiness doesn't improve by September I think I will have to move over to the V.

Where in mass are you having issues?

  3. I was playing around with an international version of the One and could not get it to succumb to the death grip. Wonder why.

  4. Ok so if I become a sponsor I can see diff maps?? How long does it take to become a sponsor after u donate?

As soon as robert sees the donation he will upgrade your account. Timing depends on how busy he is but he is very quick abouy this.

No "sheesh" or apology necessary. Just know that the intent of S4GRU is to help each other learn about Sprint, Network Vision, and general wireless topics. But S4GRU is not here to help find the latest ETF loophole, tethering workaround, etc. There are plenty of other sites for that kind of unsavory activity.

  6. jsa - Nice to at least get a little reassurance.

THCandriod - I've got a case and will always use one. I've just never been a big fan of insurance for electronics.

    Peace,

Sprint will treat your phone as if it is under warranty even after your year is up if you have insurance.

  7. So far, the Motorola Admiral, the Kyocera Rise, and the LG Optimus Elite all use the Qualcomm MSM8655 chipset, pointing to some kind of hardware requirement for SDC to work. Interestingly, the Torque uses the MSM8960, the chip in both the EVO 4G LTE and the Samsung Galaxy S3, meaning it could (theoretically) work in the near future. If so, Sprint could (if they wanted to) bring back PTT in a big way.

Least of its troubles? I work as a S&R tech in a high SDC-usage area, and the issues with the Dura- line seemed to far outweigh those of the Admiral. What issues have you noticed?

The torque should have an update early summer that will enable dc over lte.

  8. I don't know about this. The Galaxy SIV IMO looks just like the s3, so in hand, it'll feel like the same device. On the other hand, the One looks very neat and I think it has potential. I have an external SD card, so buying the HTC One would render my external card useless. Also, I dislike how much HTC locks down their devices. I love being able to mod the look and feel of the software. Hands down, Samsung is better in this field. Not only that, but Samsung always seems to yield better modem performance. On the HTC evo 3d (which I returned within my 14 day period) and the evo lte (which I opted out on) both have rather weak radios. Other thing is lack of a menu button. Come on, HTC.

I'll probably stick with my S3 for now and see what comes out later this year (hopefully the next Nexus on Sprint?) ;)

I had the chance to see and briefly use both the one and s4. The s4 is very light and more rectangular (watch for the lawsuit of a rectangle with rounded corners) than the s3 but you can tell its design is kind of a combination between the note 2 and s3.

  9. hey everyone. just found this site and wished I found it sooner. I live in Haines City but work in Winter Haven. I noticed about a week ago a couple mornings in a row 4g light up and go away near Recker Hwy and Commerical Blvd in the 33880. sometime ago I seen ppl on a couple towers in the 33884. the issue I have for a week now is the tower at Register Rd and Lake Dexter Cir looks to be offline for even 3g service. Sprint only tells me known issue there and techs working on it. is it normal for this to happen prior to launch? its getting really annoying because this is the tower I'm connected to most of the time because the service area I work in is usually close to this tower and I never see anyone at that location anymore working.

Yes it is common for this to happen. When network vision rolled out in my area there outages and dropped calls for about two weeks. The good news is that once it is done the experience is much improved.

  10. I live in 01719 Boxborough MA. And there is no 4g. Yet for a stretch of maybe 4 miles on the highway there is. Why that is, is beyond me.

Does anyone know what Sprints plans are for rolling out 4g in MA?

I don't want to sound rude but I'm about to switch carriers because of the slow 3g and lack of 4g.

    Anyways thanks for the help.

    :)

There are hundreds of lte sites in mass and more are completed every week. The premier sponsor section has maps that tell estimated completion dates for the sites. There is lte around you in Westboro and framingham for example but the rollout order can seem haphazard. The availability of the fiber or aav etc and local permits effect this quite a bit. If you can wait a bit then you will see a huge difference once complete but if you can't wait then you need to find a carrier that suits your needs.

  11.

I called twice and asked for my MSL. I don't know if I have terrible luck, or if it really isn't as simple as people make it out to be.

It is much more simple for me to use CDMA Workshop

Most sprint service and repair stores in my area will give you the msl as long as you verify the account.

  12. Unfoetunately I believe we will see a postpaid customer decline due to nextel subscribers going to other carriers. Overall the sprint side will see growth in revenue and subscribers but a net loss. Hopefully we will see a good operating income. Cant wait til july 1st when we will be done with nextel and this depreciation.

It only happens with the S3 though.

I read somewhere that there is an alcatel lucent issue with devices dropping data connections. I will see if I can find the source info. I have the same issue in an alcatel market but have seen it with multiple devices. Toggling airplane mode seems to fix it but somedays I have to toggle three or four times.

  14. The optimus g and mach use LTE signal for their bars and db levels unlike most of the other phones.

  15. good service were there's towers.. in the city we get good signal.. out in the sticks not so good.. i dont live in the sticks so im stright

Western and north western ri have some issues but will be helped by 800 rolling out later next year. Pascoag, chepachet, foster etc definately have some coverage issues.

  16.

It will just increase the spectrum depth. It will do nothing for coverage.

The article says that certain obligations are included as well but does not state what those are. If us cellular has no more customers in that area then those obligations may be sprint taking over tower leases. But that is just a guess.
