  1. Good info.

Like I said I really don't follow this much anymore as the 3 is off my wishlist because of the lack of 800 and 2600 LTE.

I understand.. It's a bummer for me as well... Though the world phone for me and my situation in the coming year or so works well... I think I'll get it on the one up program

I have at least 3 trips planned to Europe in the next year.. And lte is still in its infancy in phx.. In 12 months I can upgrade with the one up... So by then to a tridand phone.. It's also nice my normal upgrade isn't till February so getting a phone 5 months sooner is a win win win... But yes im still bummed about no trip band... But... For me right now not my number one priority...

  2. Kinda cheesy...  turned into a bunch of numbers.  Gotta be quick and to the point with comedy and not drag it out.

I just had that conversation at work yesterday.. With exception that the iPhone fan didn't know any of the numbers.. They would say why their iPhone was great and new.. And I'd explain why it's not. Back and forth all night... It was fun for me... Everyone else maybe not lol

Iphone fans remind me of Pittsburgh steelers fans trying to explain how their team is so great yet still 0-3

  3. After I found out its not tridand I stopped following this so forgive me if its been covered.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Problems: European And American Models Are Region Locked

    http://www.ibtimes.com/samsung-galaxy-note-3-problems-european-american-models-are-region-locked-1411342

    Android central answers this well..

'Unlocked' EU and American Note 3s only region-locked if you first 'activate' them with an unapproved SIM — and even then, there's a way back

  4. I love the person who decided to put North St running east and west then a few streets south of it is North Blvd also running east and west. You don't know how many times people ask me on the street when I am walking around asking where north Blvd is and we are standing on north St.

come on in phoenix you have streets that change names... are blocked by a mountain and on the other side of the mountain continues on... cactus road can be turn into thunderbird... but thunderbird never turns into cactus...  the same highway is 4 different names...  its wonderful living here lol

  5. I was wondering if anyone knows what is going on in South Tempe.  In the running update map, there are a few towers that have been "in progress" for as long as I can remember.  Any ideas why?  Is something really substantial happening? Did they start and not be able to finish? Documentation Errors?

for a while in the phoenix market robert was marking the sites that got permits as "in progress" i think he stopped doing that a while ago.. and went back to focusing on just the sites were completed.. those two sites still havent been updated... i looked at the permits to see if any work was done a month or so ago and they still show permitted but no work... that may have changed since but thats why you see it as in progress...

i would recommend going to http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/2877-new-building-permits-for-phoenix-upgrades/ topdownat4 does an excellent job updating that map... usually within an hour after

but if you go to this thread you will see the sites that have gotten permits since robert stopped including them on the complete thread... there are alot of permitted sites that still need upgrades... that with the exception of those two white sites on roberts map, are not included on that map...

  6. ive yet to have one customer say this is happening. I have customers complain about everything under the sun but they somehow manage to omit the vomit inducing UI? No.

Plenty that hate iOS 7 for sure. But none vomit.

Just because they're upset about iOS 7 doesn't mean their stomach is.

    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2399586?start=15&tstart=0

there is more than that on the site... it may not sound like a reasonable complaint but the number of them are increasing... (i googled iphone sickness and got several sites showing complaints)

i think its an easy fix... i seriously doubt you can write it up to all apple haters... these are after all apple users... i write it up to people not liking change to ios7 same bs happens when anyone else has an update but to say unequivocally that its bull shit and not a real problem to those people it is.. addressing how to shut it off or how they can fix it otherwise not discounting their complaints would be the way to go.  personally id stop staring at my iphone so much lol open an app and shut up... i think anyone that stares at their phone long enough to induce vomitting probably arent that stable but there are enough people not happy with it to warrant it a problem...

    just another firstworldproblem lol

  7. Don't disagree, but that doesn't really explain why local police departments need these, and it doesn't explain why they've been buying them in recent years, long after the Patriot Act.

personally i dont think they do need them... just like they dont need a tank or personal armored transport carriers...or drones...

    but..

they do have a budget and if they dont spend the money they may not get the increase year over year... so they buy shit they dont really need...

(though i could argue that drones are probably less expensive and easier to maintain than a helicopter or a fleet of them)

  8. While I have no doubt that's mostly true, they're not spending $40 million on nothing. Clearly these do something they can't do for free.

well these are pretty old devices and for the most part pre patriot act devices where the courts wouldnt have given the blanket warrants to just take all the data and then let the pick through it. these devices were more specific targets but thanks to the patriot act and the fisa courts these devices have been moded out for more efficient collection means.

meta data collection given straight from the companies render most of these devices outdated. i dont need to track a phone if verizon et al just tell me where a phone is. and they can do that pretty accurately

now for 3 letter agencies and military where these devices would come in handy would be overseas where they cant get blanket court approval not likely a pakistan or egyptian court is going to let the cia just have cell phone records...  and i doubt a Qatar based cell phone company is going to give up a list of their clients and their cell phone data so these devices would come in handy for them... but over here why bother just call up sprint or vzw and the rest of them and say we have a warrant for this data.. which fisa courts have already given them access too anyway

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Problems: European And American Models Are Region Locked

    http://www.ibtimes.com/samsung-galaxy-note-3-problems-european-american-models-are-region-locked-1411342

there has been a lot of confusion with this revelation ive heard that its software lock which means someone will work around it also some have said that its not as bad as it seems... its also hitting S2 s3 and S4s s4 mini and any other older notes  made after july.. i have a hard time thinking they revamped the entire process to put this block and just made it software in that case some facny chef someplace will fix it... if its hardware then  :wall:

sammobile has a good article addressing it

  10. its not a sim card like you are using it its a uicc universal integrated circuit card its for lte.  if you take it out your lte will stop working, you cant get it to work on another network.

    http://support.sprint.com/support/article/About_Removable_UICC_Cards/case-wds02012-20120920-100001

Can I buy a UICC at any Walmart, Best Buy, or other carrier store?

If you need to replace your UICC, it MUST be Sprint UICC compatible with your device. Sprint stores typically would carry this replacement item. You cannot buy a generic SIM card and attempt to use it with your phone. Additionally, other carrier UICCs cannot be used with our Sprint devices. Sprint UICCs also cannot be used on other carrier devices (e.g. to enable LTE on their equipment).

  11. According to his signature, David has:

    • Phones/Devices:HTC ONE, Samsung Galaxy SIII, HTC EVO 4G LTE, EVO 3D

Which leads me to a question: I have had the GS3 for about a year.  Has anyone else noticed that their GS3 battery isn't holding a charge as well as it did when new, or am I imagining that mine discharges faster now?

i have three spares... 2 of the three are sstill pretty comparable one of them drains way faster...

i usually always buy more than one battery for this reason... a shipping error got me three for this phone but if you have been using the same battery and only one battery for a year you would see diminished  charge capacity by a spare they are cheap

  12. Sprint CDMA? Cheyenne, Wyoming. Just a little far.

But now that Sprint owns Clearwire, there is technically one Sprint site in Rapid City. But it only has WiMax. No voice at all.

Wow would have expected something in Sturgis.. Bummer...

On the side note good luck with the move.. And everything else associated with that :-)

  13. No I am using as a guide markets sprint has started over a year ago and are still not complete to markets sprint has just started. All on my information comes from s4gru, including that current run rates have many markets being complete long after mid year of 2014.

I know i said that already.. But as compared to what? There is no v4gru or a4gru to make similar accusations or base analysis of one carrier against the others..

It's easy to make negative assertions only on sprint. Because you don't know where the others are lacking because there is no in depth analysis. To prove that sprint is doing it worse than the other guys.. They tell you a market is complete even though we all know there is gaping holes in coverage.. But since I can'tgo to site and say llooks here this market should have been complete.. You seem to think youcan do it here as pproof that sprint is lacking.. It'snot.

You give other carriers. Benefit of doubt. But trash sprint trying to use s4gru's words against sprint. You know the same holds true for other carriers but won't make that claim.. Awfully disingenuous and pretty dishonest.

  14. Umm... I will have the impression I have based on what i am seeing. Chicago, Atlanta Dallas all are not complete and they where the first markets to launch. There are markets that have recently started if they take as long to complete then yes sprint will be pushing back their time frame. Then there is the fact that sprint has already pushed back their completion date twice and this is never a positive sign. Further, based on current deployment rates many markets are trending for completion later than mid-year. It not negative to look at te pace and say unless things speed up there not going meet their dead line, it's just an observation. In any case I would be willing to bet on it.

    /rantover

You are basing sprints completion as compared to other carriers in other cities.. Comparing it to what? There is no s4gru for other carriers so vzw and att can tell you oh we are done but you know from being here that sprint can't do that. I know for a fact there are gaping holes in vzw 4g in cities they have announced as complete. But alas how could that be? They are complete..

Oh wait there is noone keeping them honest!

So you are willing to bet... That there are unforeseen issues slowing down sprints deployment. You use the fact you can see exactly the deployment. (though if there was no s4gru you wouldn't know any better and sprint would have said those markets are done and you couldn't argue any differenrt)

Now with the exception of massive weather abnormalities like 3 blizzards that hit Chicago last winter.. A superstorm named sandy.. And the noreaster behind her. And a tornado season that wrecked tornado alley.. Seasons summer or winter average out as a whole. Winter as a whole didn't hurt the deployment but then focus on areas down to not just market but neighborhood deployment you say weather effects as a whole (which isn't true) but say deployment in mature markets aren't good enough and a sign sprint and their contractors inability and incompetence to get things done.

Your seemingly only point is that you think and are willing to bet based on in depth analysis you can only find for one company in comparison to the others that sprint has hit bumps in the road for their deployment and that sprint will hit other snags that's a good bet.. Anyone can make that bet.. I'd say the biggest thing to hit everyone at this point would be in some markets where all three big boys are building out there is and will be some hybrid cable shortages... Slowing down back haul

You will focus on sprint saying that that is a sign of incompetence won't focus on the others because you're a negative Nancy for sprint don't know why don't care.. Even though same things are happening with vzw and att.. Would be great if we could see how superstorm sandy and blizzards effected the macromatket in cities you mentioned but till there is a v4gru or an a4gru no way to prove it.. So you go ahead and make easy bets with nothing but strawman accusations and assertions I mean how hard is it to say in an enterprise where you rebuild an entire network from the ground up adding thousands of miles of cable working on 39 thousand plus sites that but with this place you know when each are worked on how much of a leap is it and how hard is it to say there would be delays(same delays everyone else has to deal with) wow you are a seer a prophet buy a lotto ticket..

Well not really.. You just go to great lengths to be a negative Nancy I don't know the reasons I don't know if you are trolling for the other carriers... Focusing on only sprint cause your either an att or vzw fanboy I don't know if you are truly just a disgruntled sprint customer that once your neighborhood gets 4g you will fade away never to be seen from again.. Or if you just like being contrary..

Either way your analysis is off. You have gone to great lengths to say sprints build out is lacking but with no analysis of the other guys to this level you know there is no way for others to disprove. And once a a big storm hits you can say look at the jersey shore why is their deployment so far off.

It's easy to go to the micro and macro level when you can't do the same for others. Keep comparing sprints build out to vzw and att even though it's not apples to apples.. Or oranges.. And using the info you find here and only here to point out problems only in sprint but not fairly for others. What sprint is doing on just an engineering level is extraordinary but negative Nancys will always poo poo on others parade. No matter how much evidence there is that it's sunny out.
