So after's Tuesday updates were posted it looks like 99% of the towers in the Richmond market are at least 3g accepted. Nothing but 800/LTE expansion from this point on.
I have also noticed that 1x800 has started popping up as I travel around town. Just voice so far. No sign of 800 LTE yet.

For you guys that are on Framily that upgraded on 2yr contract prior to 2014 are you all seeing any significant savings by switching to framily?

I certainly am. I went from paying about $190 for 3 lines to about $100. But I was able to hit the magic 7 number.

Just something to keep in mind....this comes directly from someone in the know regionally who was kind enough to share this info with me ...when a new LTE site starts broadcasting or shows up as 3G/4G on Robert's maps, there is still about 60 days' worth of optimization work on that tower that must take place. Remember, Sprint has not yet added Richmond to their list of 4G launched markets....there is still a lot of testing and optimization going on for both NV 3G and 1900 MHz LTE. The earliest we'd see an 80% launch is end of July. Full Spark rollout (triband) is TARGETED for end of November of this year...provided weather and other factors (looking at you, backhaul providers) cooperate. I know things feel frustrating even still but a tremendous amount of progress has been made in RVA since just December of 2013. We are the last major East Coast U.S. market to receive NV1, which Sprint is really trying close out nationwide. Good things are right around the corner....I promise.
I'm not complaining. My major complaint early on was that calls were dropping left and right when you'd go from upgraded towers to legacy towers. That's been pretty much fixed. Looking at the last update report just about every tower in the richmond area is at least 3g accepted. Now just sitting back and seeing LTE get lit up in more places. Would like to see 800 start to roll out though.

Ahh wouldn't D.C. be number 1?
No. 1 what?

The only time limit was having done an upgrade before January 10. I upgraded my phone back in November and switched to framily in February. I haven't been charged the extra $15. Sounds like something was misapplied in the billing system.

iPhone 5S test drive and music services (lots of them) streaming for free, regardless of data allotment.
Also of note, MetroPCS customers were counted in their customer gained statistics.
Was there something about free music streaming? All I've seen Is that some streaming services will no longer count against your data cap.
-
A roaming cap should provide a reasonable amount of data for the LTE age. Say, Sprint and other providers provide 1GB of roaming over LTE. Anything over that gets throttled to 256 Kbps. Want more high-speed data? You can buy another LTE bucket of 1GB for $10. Simple pricing for roaming even a technical retard can understand.
My only quibble is for those on already capped plans like Framily. Roaming should simply be part of the cap. If you only have a 1gb of data in total then roaming data should just be part of it.

(Reuters) - Germany’s Deutsche Telekom AG is willing to keep a minority stake in a deal to sell T-Mobile US Inc to Japan’s Softbank Corp, but other details such as price and financing remain to be worked out, according to sources familiar with the situation.
Softbank owns a majority of Sprint Corp S.N, the third largest U.S. wireless carrier. Deutsche Telekom owns 67 percent of T-Mobile, which has a market value of $27.6 billion and is the fourth-largest U.S. wireless carrier.
Earlier on Thursday, Kyodo news agency reported that Deutsche Telekom had agreed to a Softbank plan to buy T-Mobile.

Honestly think the only reason for this is to keep acquisition cost lower for SoftBank. I'm sure Masa son would prefer to buy out the whole company.
-
If DT is planning on selling their ~67% stake in TMUS, why would they even care what the resultant company is called?
My guess is that they are not going to sell their entire stake. They may end up keeping a minority stake in the combined company. I can't imagine it'll be that large a stake though.

In a reply back to CNET, John Legere said that he really admires Masa Son. No doubt he's running the company.
All the pre-merger rumor stories had it with Leger and Tmo basically taking over sprint. Hesse did that bloomberg interview a few weeks back in which he said he didn't mind leaving the company and going to do something else.

Like it or not, Masa Son is going to try to get this deal done. Of course the easy part is getting DT to agree. Now we'll see what kind of determination Masa truly has once he goes up against the feds.

We may be seeing first signs of movement. DT may have given the greenlight to the merger. Unfortunately the source article is behind a paywall. Haven't seen any other references yet.

Well, according to the editor of phonescoop.com Sprint will also be getting the 3gb/32gb variant.
Confirmed that both Sprint and T-Mobile will offer the 32 GB / 3 GB RAM version of the #LGG3

Haven't seen any info on wireless charging.

I doubt it. They need to monetize that new LTE network. They only get paid by Sprint for usage on it.

It's also a reciprocal LTE roaming deal. Imagine Sprint wouldn't let nTelos customers roam on 4g until ntelos let sprint customers do so.

I wonder if there is a list of sprint Phones that have WiFi calling already. I have found Samsung Mega and S4 mini.
I am sure that WiFi calling lag stems from speed of the sever that processess the call and the phones speed to transmit and receive the data and processe it from and back into sound from a digital file.
If you go through this thread you should be able to piece it together. It's not that many.

So the towers in western chesterfield finally showed up on the last batch of updates. Did a test on tower near Woodlake and managed 1.25 Mbps down and 780kbps up. Ping time was 78 ms. Not too shabby.
-
Other items:
nTelos will gain access to Sprint's device and equipment relationships. Let's them offer a greater range of devices.
nTelos will buildout on top of its existing equipment. Not rip and replace.
nTelos will use equipment from shared network vendors.
-
The conference call is going on now. Will post any additional information.

Just got back into town and my rants appear to be answered. I was passing the tower closest to my neighborhood on 360 when signal check dinged to let me a Lte signal was present. My phone tried to connect but couldn't. I was happy. Then I saw the next tower up had a giant crane next to it. Will have to see if I can see work being done tomorrow.

Winterpock area? I don't know if you are missing much,. I am not going to say much but man....
I spend a lot of time in that part of town so I would like to see improvement.
-
Has there been no activity on the towers? It could be that they just have not been accepted yet.
Unlike Samsung in Cleveland, it seems that ALU is building from the inner city out to the suburbs. Interesting approach, but I do feel for you all. There was a point during the District roll out (we still have two large chunks untouched) where my phone was more useful as a hand warmer than a phone.
It always possible. I'm out of town this week so no way to test. Was just hoping to see something pop up in the next update report for this part of town.
-
Feeling frustrated with the fact that southwest chesterfield appears to be getting shafted. Why is there no activity in this part of the town?
-
Wasn't the breakup with att like 3 billion? I forget
Sent from my iPhone 5s using Tapatalk
It was something like $ 3 billion in cash and $3 billion worth of spectrum. So about $6 billion in total.
