  1. I have had the same problem.... (With Google services)

But to avoid power drain at night I just turn off the GPS.  I have gone from a 30~40% power lose to only 3~8% overnight.

In the morning I turn on the GPS and I can go an entire day on a single charge.

But I too hope that Google get's their act together.

    Lateck,

Thanks, I'll try that. I'm spoiled with the battery life of my G2.

At least today, the operating system is higher than Google Play Services on my battery usage list!

  2. It was a bad update that was pushed out from Google. They update Play Services in the background and users have no control over it.  We all had to wait it out until Google fixed it. I wonder if Play Services has specific versions for different phones.  If so, this may be a bad update or a funky interaction with TouchWiz.

Thanks Dave,  I am wondering the same thing myself.  I was hoping to see if other GN3 users are experiencing the same issue.  Hopefully Google will fix this soon.

  3. I am getting frustrated with Google Play Services sucking down my battery on the GN3.

I have turned off sync on all but the essential Google apps and still Google Play Services ist the number one contender in my battery usage list.

I don't know how or why this is happening or how to stop it

I had the same issue with my LG G2, but without any intervention on my part it stopped after a few days. This problem on my GN3 is persistent.

Anyone else experience and solve this?

  4. Do any of you guys have issue with your phone reconnecting to Bluetooth in the car if you put it in Airplane mode and take it back out? I know if I do that it won't reconnect unless I turn off my car and started it again.

My Hyundai can be kind of finicky after the original automatic Bluetooth connection is manually disconnected. Meaning that sometimes it does not like to automatically reconnect. BUT, Hyundai provides a connections screen on their touchscreen controller to manually reconnect, so it's really no big deal.

To answer your question, I really don't think your G2 is at fault. It's probably just the way your vehicle Blutooth firmware was written.

Airplane mode cuts off ALL radios.

  5. Okay, it's either my custom kernel or the new 2014 Civic. I updated my kernel so I'll see if it's that.

Do you have a friend who has a device you could try via Bluetooth on your 2014 Civic? That could rule out the Civic and its audio system.
  6. Anyone else get static with their music via Bluetooth in their vehicles? I switch to FM radio, no static as higher volumes. Bluetooth (Pandora high quality and using Power amp with .flac quality songs) still introduce static sounds at higher volumes. Anyone else with this issue? Sent from my LG-G2

That's at least one issue my G2 does not have. I have a Hyundai Santa Fe LTD with Infinity 7.1 sound. The Bluetooth connection to my G2 is outstanding. No artifact noises, just plain high quality music.

I have pandora set to HQ and it sounds awesome. Are you using Power Amp with EQ?

My G2 over Bluetooth easily matches the input volume levels of FM, CD, AUX In, USB In.

  7. The update may have other enhancements but there's a new modem and android OS is still 4.2.2. We can't tell if there's anything else judging from the link. Sprint may release the OTA Friday, could be next week but it's in the final testing stages. (LG/Sprint reps are testing the update now.) Sent from my LG-G2

I'm interested to see what the new modem will bring!  I'll keep my GN3 activated until I see what actually happens.  Thanks much for the update (no pun intended)!

  8. I've had the same issues, but mine have been very intermittent. I got this phone 1st week of Dec. and had no issues at all the 1st week. The 2nd week the GPS wouldn't work or lock for a couple days then it just starts working out of the blue and has worked great up until a week 1/2 ago. For the last week 1/2 the phone wouldn't lock on my location and have me miles away from my exact location. Once I start my trip the GPS location would get better and show me maybe within a half mile of where I actually was. I tried using different app's(Google maps, skout, mapquest) and all had the same problem. As of yesterday it's been working perfect....I don't get it.

That's the way mine acts up as well.

  9. I think I may have found the solution to the "S Note" crash.  I deleted the "SnoteData" folder and let the app re-create it.  The "S Note" app has been loading every time since.  Hopefully it won't come back to haunt me!

  10. In my opinion the EIRP numbers from FCC docs are pretty good indicators. But not absolute. And in the case of the LG G2, the EIRP shown is good, and the G2 does perform well as shown for Band 25. It's just not as good as the best.

    This is good stuff!  Thanks.

  11. Are you rooted? Have you uninstalled any other samsung or system apps?

I'm not rooted and have not uninstalled any Samsung apps.   Only a few 3rd party apps that I installed, didn't like and uninstalled.

  12. Crappy Samsung software. If you clear the data on S note, the force closing should stop. And as for dolphin, I use that browser solely for work, and have never had it crash in the past 3 months.

Thanks, I tried clearing both data and cache, but the S Note app still stops running.  It's really starting to get annoying now.

  13. Just got my Note 3 Dec 31.  I'm having an issue with "S Note".  Way too frequently, when I try and open the app, I get an error message "Unfortunately S Note has stopped".

Does anyone know what the cause of this is or how to fix it?

I found a thread on XDA, saying to install the "S Note widget", open it start a new note then close it and the problem with the "S Note" app stopping will go away.  This did not work for me.

I would appreciate any solutions that anyone may have.

I'm using Dolphin browser and it often crashes on my Note 3 as well.  Any thoughts?

    Thanks!

  14. I may get to test, eye balling rough test, my lg g2 vs a note 3 that i traded my old note 2 for ill report back when i get it and activate it.

I'll be interested in your finfings. I have both those phones as well.

  15. I disagree. Driving around and going in and out of buildings, you will frequently be near the edge of service. Tell this to my dear Verizon friends with the Note 3. They are finding all kinds of LTE 750 holes that didn't exist on their previous device. And also, since LTE airlink is fragile, a stronger signal can make a critical difference in performance. In the case of 10dB difference in LTE signal, it could be up to 15-20Mbps slower. Radio performance is always important in the LTE era. But your basic point stands that it is down right critical during deployment. Robert via Samsung Note 8.0 using Tapatalk Pro

I can testify to what you just said!  I briefly had a Verizon Note 3.  I got "no service" or 1X in the building where I work.  My VZW Droid Bionic in the same places holds a few bars of LTE.  I just purchased a Sprint GN3 and there is a HUGE real world difference in LTE performance and reception over the Verizon version!  I'm actually very impressed with what the Sprint GN3 can do inside buildings with 1900 MHz LTE!

  16. G2 is looking pretty bad compared to those numbers.  Disappointed with the B41 performance on it, too.  We'll see what the spark update does though.  Thanks for the post.

Yeah, I know my G2 is pretty bad. That's why I bought a Samsung GN3 to hold me over until 800 MHz LTE lights up in Harrisburg.

The GN3 holds onto LTE very well. It doesn't take too much to have poor LTE reception with the G2.

I was really hoping the L720T was going to be a great performer!

  17. If this is a bad batch of G2's there must be a lot of them. So many that the ones are affected has to have a update fix in the works. This has happened on many phones where alot of people has issues that others don't but they still find a way to update the broken ones to work properly.

    What he said....

  18. As of late, I've had odd GPS issues arise. It'll lock very fast or decently fast but it'll have me located 300-600 feet away.  It'll even track with my movement--only 300-600 feet shifted to the northeast, east, south, etc.Navigation is a pain when this pain with this as the phone thinks I'm deep within a suburban cul-de-saq neighborhood when I'm actually moving 45 mph on the nearby arterial.  Using GPS Status I have will have a lock on 14 or more satellites but have a GPS accuracy in the 300-feet range. When these issue arise, a reboot usually fixes the issue.

That's better than mine at close to 30 miles away.  Sometimes it works fine though...

I have read a bunch of complaints from Verizon G2 owners as well.  There must be a bad batch as The Dave said.  My old Droid Bionic used to do this as well.  After an update for the issue, it was fine.
