  1. Two years later you'll be saying the same thing lol

There's a lot of work done. I believe the October date. According to other threads here, they have to have all towers in urban areas done before switching them on if they're going to turn on 800SMR at the same time. Otherwise they have hand-off issues with active phone calls. I'm optimistic that it'll happen soon as most towers have NV equipment.

And I can believe that with experiencing 800 here in Baltimore. It's not seamless at all yet.

  2. Eh, it's Baltimore

I will say though that although this area has LTE and 800SMR pretty pervasive, the data connections have been really spotty. Many times full signal of LTE and/or 1x800 (from signalcheck) and I'll get NO data transferred. So it's not all roses yet. When it does work, it's great, but still frustrating. Even with dBms of -85 and -62 respectively.

  3. Once you and autoprime can extract a copy of 56016 please let us know if you find any differences between it and the other corporate world phone PRL, 54016. Thanks!

    How to extract?

  4. I did see that more towers south of Madison (pretty much all of them because its so sparse) just got accepted for 3G, which is good because that means the NV equipment is in place, just not the backhaul.  That's encouraging too!  I'm off to Baltimore until Monday, looks like they've got the 4geez pretty much every where I'll be, so I'll run some speed tests.  hopefully its better than San Francisco.  And hopefully those chumps working on my Fitchburg tower will get up the equipment.

  5. The PRL on the HTC Evo is now 55016  I got it the other day, but couldn't remember if that is what it was before I updated.

I just did a PRL update on my Galaxy S4 and now have the 55016 PRL up from 55015 in Madison, WI.  Once I updated, I got a blip of 1x800SMR (as chimed by SignalCheck Pro) but then 800SMR went away and haven't had it since.  I didn't see much for this phone or PRL on that gdoc in OP.  I've got a lot of tower work around me but nothing active in my immediate area.

  6. I'm not that type of guy... But I told ya. :P

I have no clue exactly which towers were tested all I know is the majority were drive tested for signal strength.

Ha ha. I'm ecstatic that it's done! If this gives even the slightest signal to McKee Farms Park, I'll be real happy. I went by there 2 weeks ago and nothing was done on it. They're flying now.

  7. I don't have anything that is postable. Just the word of a Samsung employee who does testing of the 3g/4g after the work is complete. I have seen emails on the guys phone that has tower id #'s but it all showed green bay in the email he scrolled through.

That was last week and now green bay has some 4g showing up.

    I'd say he's pretty reputable.

    Alright man, I'll believe you.

  8. With Fitchburg being tested last week I wouldn't be surprised to see more work going on surrounding Madison that will work it's way in.

Where in Fitchburg?  Irish Ln tower?  The Fitchburg tower by me (seminole and PD) has ropes only on the tower that were put up last Thursday and no new equipment as of this AM.  I was by the Irish Ln tower a couple weeks ago and there was nothing there.  If you have detailed information, just give us a little nugget.  Or do it over on the Sponsor side.  Somethin' man!

  9. Lunching down on State Street and I came to the realization that I mislabeled Sprint NV work from before (they were actually T-mobile panels).  Now, for certain, the Sprint tower on the apt building near the bottom of State Street has NV panels on them.  It's already marked as in progress on the Sponsor map, so no need for that clarification. Only had my GS4 with me (zoomed in 4x) and it was fighting a lot of shadows.  Therefore the picture sucks, but clearly NV and RRUs present, using the short/fat antenna setup.  Man, something has to give soon.  This is sure exciting to think the whole city could light up at one time!

  10. So I'll ask you guys here. It's time to get a new cellphone. I am looking at the iphone 5s. For the purposes of living in Wisconsin, does it practically matter that it's not triband? I know it has 800 LTE, which helps penetrate buildings. Does not having the 2600(?) band matter if you are not living in a big city? What I'm asking is over the next year or two, but most likely one, will I even notice the phone is not triband? I'll probably wait to see what the Nexus offers when it's announced before pulling the trigger on anything though.

If that's the way you get down (with Apple products coming from Apple products), then it's a solid choice. You're right in that the important part is the 800LTE, after that, 2600 won't matter much. Especially in the upcoming year. Perhaps in several years when LTE advanced in launched? Unless someone wants to correct that.

And luckily the NSA will already have your fingerprint! So you won't need to go to a NSA fingerprint station in your city......just kidding, the 5S appears to be a great piece of tech. I'm an Android man myself, looking at my list of devices, but I do think they make great hardware. Just tiny screens.

  11. I could not get a picture, because my wife doesn't care as much as I do, but Verona, WI has NV panels up on the water tower. Fact. We're close, boys.

Edit: Whoa, New Glarus Oktoberfest doing my typing....anyways the Verona tower has RRUs. I'll get picture tomorrow. New Glarus tower no upgrades yet. :-)

  12. In Schaumburg, IL a few days ago I ran a speed test..got these amazing speeds, and I was in a basement in a building that was surrounded by lots of tall, thick trees.

I suspect this is the 1X800 signal penetration ability?

    15.97 download

    8.74 upload

    WOW

Well are you using a S3 as that Speedtest indicates? Or iPhone 5S? Only iPhone 5S would get 800LTE, otherwise you're getting 1900LTE and decent penetration. Not sure there's evidence of 800LTE broadcasting yet?

1x800 is voice only and very weak data. So you wouldn't get those speeds without LTE signal.

  13. For lack of a better description I'll call him a drive tester for Samsung and the NV rollout...

He has frequented the store recently and has shared some info on towers being tested.

According to his word 29 towers from Fitchburg heading eastward south of 43 have all been tested as of yesterday and will go live shortly. This is 800 and 1900 lte.

He also showed me an email from his lead stating the test cars would be getting equipment to test 800 lte in the next few weeks.

Yeah 43 is N/S? What's up? Did you mean 94?

  14. a bit off topic here..i apologize..but, is there anyone here who can provide me with contact information for someone at the corporate level. I am sick and tired of dealing with the lame customer service reps...none of them can help me.

    Thanks..

You can always email Dan@sprint.com and someone from Dan Hesse's office will call you back.  They mainly spew corporate tag lines and the like, however I have had several phone calls with a woman there and she tries to do her best.  They've even taken my concerns, checked with others/techs/divisions and called me back to follow up with what they've learned.

  15. Madison Area will be completed for NV in October.

Oak Creek and Franklin will be complete in Nov

West Bend and other areas near by there are September.

Source?  (not trying to be a jerk, but we've heard that Oct date thrown around here before....I hope you have inside information and it sounds like you might?  Care to prove that to us with evidence? :) )

  16. I would think it would be the one on park bank as thats less than a mile away, but there has been nothing going on there at all from what i can see.  i look at that building on a daily basis and havent seen any updates taking place.

Right, that's why I said perhaps the tower at 51/30 as a possibility. I'm less familiar with the topology over there between Lien Rd and that tower location.  I do believe that the Park Bank tower would/should serve that area as its higher in elevation and closer by the crow.
