  1. Not sure if anyone else in the Albemarle/Ch'ville area caught this yesterday like I did. Apparently the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors have approved a new 125' cell phone tower next to Albemarle High School. Been trying to find out some info on what providers are suppose to be going on it. But will def. help with coverage in the area. Gonna keep looking into it today and see if I can find any info. Unless anyone else in my area knows anything about it.

    **UPDATE**

I did find that it can hold up to 5 cell phone carriers. But no carrier's have signed on yet or they haven't said what ones have yet. Couldn't find any info yet on which ones have or haven't yet.

This is the company that will be building the tower:

    *Update*

I did happen to come across this today. Shows that apparently AT&T orig came forward with the idea. To put the cell phone tower up in that area. No arguments there seeing how it will help coverage with what ever other carriers decide to put equipment on the tower. Hoping that Shentel puts up some stuff for Sprint on the tower considering I do have a hard time holding on to LTE in that specific area of Hydraulic Road where AHS is located at. This was orig. done back in Jan. of this year as well.

This one was posted up on the Albemarle Public School Systems website. Posted back in Dec. 2015. By looking at the PowerPoint Presentation on this. It looks like it wont be to much of an eye sore tbh. Which is a good thing.

  2. That was one of my main concerns was the radiation to the students at the 3 schools. But it will be going in between the football field and baseball field so it will be enough away from the school but not enough away from the fb and bb fields which would be my main concern during sports events at AHS. With the concern that it will be an eye sore. I think it would be best if they did a tree disguise with it when they build it out. Would help it be less of an eye sore.

  4. I did notice one more tower that's gone LTE-active: 0187E9 on Reas Ford Rd. I'll send a SCP log once I've "seen" some more.

Ya haven't been out to Reas Ford Road area since about nov. But that is good in a way. Only could get LTE to stick for a few mins then dropped to 3g the rest of the time. But thats def good news though.

  5. I think there might be some upgrades and/or reconfigurations going on in Greene County, Va. Been connecting to the two towers I usually connect too quiet often, (the water tower on 33 and the one on Ford Ave. , but I've also been connecting to a tower that is labeled as Charlottesville, Va 22911, and the other one that is on Bear Den Mountain Trail, Waynsboro. Both the Ch'ville and Bear Den Mountain Trail ones are quiet a distance from my house.

Has anyone heard of any upgrades and/or re configurations going on in Greene County Va or Albemarle County/Charlottesville areas as of lately?

  6. Just rode by the nTelos at Pantops in Charlottesville. Closed with no lights on but a Sprint sign in the window. I guess it will be reopening and what I saw before was ripping all the old nTelos kiosks out.

If its the one in.the same.shopping center as Christians Pizza I noticed that yesterday as well. With that store it was closed and a Sprint sign up. I know the one uo at the Kholes Dtore Shopping Center I know that has a Sprint sign up as well. Havent checked to see if the one at Shoppers world has a sign up yet or not.

  7. The SID either hasn't been changed yet or will not be changed. If Sprint just absorbs the nTelos SID as native and designates that in the PRL, Mike will need to update signal check to show Sprint instead. Signal check uses a static list of SIDs and the corresponding operator.

I'm pretty sure its gonna change. If I do ##data# and then go under advanced under my G4 it use to list my SID as 4379 (nTelos) as my home coverage area before the take over. Then now it reads 4139 (Sprint) as my home coverage area.
