So how would powering down some of the equipment affect service? I assume more burden would be placed on n71. but maybe powering down just refers capacity and not coverage.  Maybe someone like @ingenium knows?  AT&T had previously talked about this several years ago, but never hear of any details or actual implementation.

Do you happen to have a link for how to disable the CSC switch when you put a SIM in?  I haven't successfully found any steps for that, and not for lack of searching.  I must be using the wrong search terms or something.  I really need to stop one of my devices from doing that.

I'm just looking to map stuff, but without spending a bunch of money on a monthly service plan.  The most I spend on any given "mapping device" is $10/mo for US Cellular, which I only have to put money on when I'm actually using it.  The rest are $5/mo or less (some are free).  I'd love to get the Boost $100/year plan but I hear that one can't be activated on the Rainbow SIM.  Very frustrating.

I'm hoping that if I can somehow get my hands on an unactivated Rainbow SIM, that will make it possible to map.  Problem, at this point, is actually getting one of those.

Which phone?  My experience is it always has to be redone after each sim or esim change.

Basically, it looks like Dish is running out of cash.  VoNR increased coverage is essential to better utilization of their new network, thus hopefully improving cash flow. The 2025 buildout deadline basically requires them to double their number of tower sites.  Still see the 800 MHz as an opportunity not to be missed, at least in the areas they plan to cover.  IMO they need a partner/merger with a new cellular player to the US market.

San Francisco has the reputation of allowing flash mobs of shoplifters to descend on stores.  You would think having all the phones in the locked managers office would protect them, but likely just not enough shoppers remaining given the departure of many other stores.

Dish is still bleeding out: https://www.fiercewireless.com/wireless/dish-loses-81000-wireless-customers-q1

Dish Network lost about 81,000 wireless net subscribers in the first quarter of 2023 compared to a net loss of 343,000 in the year-ago quarter.

    It's "Sprint" all over again.

Their systems were actually getting better. Unknownledgeable store clerks were the issue (and customer support if you had a problem).  Then their systems were hacked (ransomware).  Wonder if they had good insurance?

"Clerical error".  meant to cancel the leases to T-Mobile.

Dish is also challenging T-Mobile's spectrum holdings where it has over 1/3 of the available spectrum in any market (127 markets), specifically focusing on the 64 markets with 20MHz or more.

I wonder if this includes T-Mobile's 800MHz holdings, which Dish has the option to buy.  I smell an attempt to lower the price by Dish in one way or another.

Not sure if its update related or not but I'm unable to login and upload web data on either of my phones (I've never had it log me out since i logged in initially). I've already updated both phones so I can't test if that is the issue or not. Getting this error, diagnostics report sent as well.

Error validated. Just sent data in on prior version of SCP. Updated. Now can not log in.

Looks like Verizon is doing another round of Marco expansions around Louisville. Found another new site this morning which makes 5 new sites in the past few months. The one I found this morning is badly needed in that area for coverage, I usually can only get b13 in that area currently. They must really be feeling the pressure from T-Mobile around here.

Their plan is to go back through and do the suburban / fringe areas with n77. Especially once more of their n77 licences open up later in the year iirc.

My A52 is actually sitting on the April 1, 2022 update version and I did a lot of my tinkering on the March version.  So that doesn't really explain the issues.

For me the phone is also a big factor. My a32 5gs work perfectly, but extremely difficult/impossible to find more matching requirements. My s21 Ultras work great, but NSA reporting is non existent for unrooted phones (SCP and cellmapper).  The T-Mobile network also wants a phone to be able to do SA CA to let you select a SA band for more than a second. The actual reporting on what bands a phone supports is also absimal, especially when they first come out, which is often when they have the most features we want for our hobby.

Well, chamb e-mailed me to suggest looking for a specific option in the *#2263# menu, and while it didn't work (actually, I didn't understand what he was saying at first), it did give me an idea.  I used *#73#, made my way to the band selection menu, then backed out and got to NAS Configuration, and then backed out again and that landed me on the UE Setting screen, which allowed me to do the steps in the guide.  Bizarre, but I'm glad.

Bad news is that while it allowed me access to add additional bands, it only added them in NSA, not in SA (still only n71-SA is available).  I tried redoing several different steps in the guide to get SA enabled for other bands without success.  I also tried changing the CSC back to XAA and that didn't help either.  Also, it seems that n71 SA only actually works with the TMB CSC set; in XAA, I get a "no connection" instead.  So I've switched it back to TMB.

Next I tried "Method 2" in the guide.  I believe this is what chamb meant for me to do.  This worked!  I now had access to SA for all the NR bands the phone supports.  Unfortunately, actually locking any SA band now results in no service.  I'm still fidgeting with it in the hope that I can figure out what I need to do to make SA work properly.

So the firmware deadline dates are April 1, 2022 or a bit later and then Dec 31, 2022 for the various published Samsung tricks.  Wish Samsung would leave the factory unlocked able to band lock. One Plus is also getting hinky since their purchase by Oppo.  Like Moto. NSG works best with Qualcomm modems iirc
