My A52 is actually sitting on the April 1, 2022 update version and I did a lot of my tinkering on the March version.  So that doesn't really explain the issues.

For me the phone is also a big factor. My a32 5gs work perfectly, but extremely difficult/impossible to find more matching requirements. My s21 Ultras work great, but NSA reporting is non existent for unrooted phones (SCP and cellmapper).  The T-Mobile network also wants a phone to be able to do SA CA to let you select a SA band for more than a second. The actual reporting on what bands a phone supports is also absimal, especially when they first come out, which is often when they have the most features we want for our hobby.

Well, chamb e-mailed me to suggest looking for a specific option in the *#2263# menu, and while it didn't work (actually, I didn't understand what he was saying at first), it did give me an idea.  I used *#73#, made my way to the band selection menu, then backed out and got to NAS Configuration, and then backed out again and that landed me on the UE Setting screen, which allowed me to do the steps in the guide.  Bizarre, but I'm glad.

Bad news is that while it allowed me access to add additional bands, it only added them in NSA, not in SA (still only n71-SA is available).  I tried redoing several different steps in the guide to get SA enabled for other bands without success.  I also tried changing the CSC back to XAA and that didn't help either.  Also, it seems that n71 SA only actually works with the TMB CSC set; in XAA, I get a "no connection" instead.  So I've switched it back to TMB.

Next I tried "Method 2" in the guide.  I believe this is what chamb meant for me to do.  This worked!  I now had access to SA for all the NR bands the phone supports.  Unfortunately, actually locking any SA band now results in no service.  I'm still fidgeting with it in the hope that I can figure out what I need to do to make SA work properly.

So the firmware deadline dates are April 1, 2022 or a bit later and then Dec 31, 2022 for the various published Samsung tricks.  Wish Samsung would leave the factory unlocked able to band lock. One Plus is also getting hinky since their purchase by Oppo.  Like Moto. NSG works best with Qualcomm modems iirc

I'm curious to know if the A23 can be band-locked.  I'm considering buying it through them with the $100/year service, if at all possible, in order to record Dish.  I mean, once it's possible to get a Rainbow SIM.

I mapped out the various phone choices to Dish's NR bands.  Used trade press for many of the phones, which can be unreliable.  Just starting with N71, you are down to three phones: Moto G Stylus 5G 2022, Moto Edge+ (2022), Celero 5G+.  Add in the less frequent n66 and you are down to: Moto G Stylus 5G 2022, Moto Edge+ (2022).  The Moto G Stylus 5G 2022 then walks away with the rest of the bands.

A negative is even if you pay cash, the phone is carrier locked for a year.

Kinda, the exact wording is Mikes but the 312-250 PLMN which triggers it typically indicates a Sprint site that T-Mobile intends to keep.

I have seen various T-Mobile people use it. Including Neville iirc.

Edit: it should be noted that keep site status is not a guarantee, nor is it exclusive. There have been keep sites shutdown and non keep sites converted. Keep site status rather should just be considered a high probability of conversion.

  5. I have had several problems with the MobileX app processing payments (several errors).  They just credited me for the first month, which I will verify tomorrow.

Lately support has been more communicative about various errors I have run into.

  6. A while back in this beta test cycle I noticed issues with SCP when getting a call on the secondary line on my S21 ultras.  I turned off "Allow secondary SIM to use data during calls" which seemed to fix the issue.  Fast forward to today and I re-enabled that setting and those issues now appear to be fixed.  Now if I do a speed test which works when the setting is this way (other way the speed test is suspended), SCP will say mobile data inactive while I am pulling data.  I would document this issue away for now.  May behave differently on s22 and s23s.

  7. Sent in several from my 1+ nord n200 5g #1 clear rooted for NSA n41 and NSA n71. They were bracket by nsg showing the same. I realize they may still not have data you can work with. Have nsg screenshots if you need them from same device (DE2117).

I saw your diagnostic -- thanks! I just finished some code changes for that issue that will hopefully fix it. Unfortunately I can't replicate it with my test devices so I have to rely on you (and others reporting it) to let me know what works. Hope to get another bugfix update out today..

I have seen this on s21s if the service mode for net1 and net2 (the sims) are the same and the esim is turned off. Iirc it was the same with the psim unless it was removed. If they don't match then no issues (ie, one is CFG and the other is VZW or ATT).
