  1. I tried to ask HTC if the phone comes unlocked and as hard as I tried to explain to them what I was asking they weren't really getting it but from what I can tell it appears that the phone does indeed ship locked from them. Will want to get confirmation when folks get the actual units from HTC. Given that the device is good for T-Mobile and AT&T (read: higher resale value), personally I wouldn't buy it if it was locked since it's basically impossible to get Sprint to unlock a device even if purchased at full price while one (like myself) is still under contract for another device (which is a shame I think).
  2. I hope so. Should work pretty well on AT&T too if so (I believe at this point AT&T is supposed to have MFBI deployed throughout their network).
  3. Anyone know if the Sprint variant will come unlocked if purchased from HTC at full price?
  4. With as much as Sprint tries to push you to go to the "premium" version of their own visual voicemail product I can see why they might not desire any other voicemail app to work with their VM (as they would lose the ability to incessantly nag you to upgrade). I have google voice voicemail (but not full Sprint number integration) turned on in google voice as a replacement for the Sprint voicemail but at least on my current phone I find that around 15-20% of calls somehow slip through and end up in the Sprint voicemail nonetheless. This is very annoying and really concerns me when I will activate my 5X. I haven't dared enable full google voice integration since having a ton of issues with it when I had enabled integration a couple years ago that forced me to disable the integration a few weeks after turning it on. I will keep the Google voice mail as the main voice mail on my number with the 5X but what options do I have as far as notifications from the Sprint voice mail if some calls keep getting through to it? Is it possible to install Sprint's crappy VM app on a non-branded phone? Any other alternatives? I suppose I might also consider full reintegration with GV but after the horrendous experience a couple years ago I am afraid to try it (I missed a lot of important phone calls which went to lala land - no voicemail would even pick up; even worse, sometime it made it appear as if my number was inoperative). I should note that in the beginning GV integration worked fine but then went on the fritz about five or six weeks later.
  5. Tried it. Still says pending. Regardless of whether I sign out or not though, the page does appear to be refreshing OK for me as I can see the "ordered however long ago..." time changing. Also, for that amount, my credit card will text me as soon as there is a charge, plus I have not yet received any emails from Google about my order (not sure if I am supposed to until it goes out of pending status).
  6. I ordered a white one yesterday around 1pm EDT. Order currently says 'Pending' and expected delivery says Oct. 28-30. My card has not been charged. If you try to order a new one now, it still says leaving the warehouse by the 22nd.
  7. Just wanted to chime in on a few of these Sprint costs/fees issues, from my personal perspective: I think charging $10 as a convenience fee to get a SIM quicker is fine, in the context of the fact that other, free options exist. However, what I think is important is to be consistent within the same distribution channel. Meaning, if there is not supposed to be a charge at corporate stores then there shouldn't be any which do charge, or if authorized sellers can charge one then there should be a consistent amount charged in that channel. With respect to activation fees on newly purchased devices... I believe some of the other carriers do this too so in that context I think it's okay. I just wish the charge would be a lot more evident on the front end, not buried in the last page of an order. This would make it easier to compare these charges between the different carriers As for SERO... As long as Sprint itself is cool with it I don't see why anyone else should have a problem with it. Sprint is under no legal obligation to maintain these contracts under their current terms past their renewal dates. They could easily inform customers that upon the end of their contract different terms will apply. They kind of did that before when they went from original SERO to SERO-P and it's also somewhat like how Big Red just upped the price of old unlimited data plans by $20/month. However, Sprint is choosing not to do this and as long as they don't then I see no problems with folks continuing to use SERO.
  8. I ordered a one meter USB 3.1 A-plug to C-plug cable from one of the Chinese sellers on eBay. Less than $3 total, shipped slow-boat from China.
  9. Thanks for the explanation about the difference between CSIM and USIM. If this phone has a CSIM, does that mean that if I had multiple CSIM phones I could switch between them at will just by swapping the SIMs without having to contact Sprint?
  10. Yeah, hopefully Google will list those on Tuesday though.
  11. Thanks for the info. Based on the leaks/rumors so far my concerns with this device is that the bezels are a bit bigger than I would have hoped and that the available memory options supposedly are only 16 or 32 GB which could be an issue given that Nexus devices usually don't come with an SD card slot.
  12. You guys mind looking up the values for the A1633/4 models too? My gut feel tells me that the reason they split out to two models was due to component yield and availability and once they have enough of the AT&T stock built up they will use those for the "SIM-FREE" variant that should come out in a few months.
  13. It is also shown on the main 6s specs page. They'll probably figure out at some point that it's missing from the LTE page and add it. They already made a change recently on the LTE support page... They took out the CDMA/GSM designations on the left when they realized that both models do CDMA.
  14. I really wish Apple would stop with this confusing multi-variant nonsense. If you look at the iPhone LTE breakdown ( http://www.apple.com/iphone/LTE ) you'll see that the AT&T variant is going to also be sold by US Cellular and C-Spire, meaning it will do CDMA. So again, we end up with two US iPhone variants... one for 3 national carriers and one for 1 national carrier with the latter supporting all of the former's bands and technologies, plus one or two more bands. It's just that this year AT&T is the odd one out rather than Sprint (last year's model). I am assuming in a couple of months when Apple releases the officially SIM-Free version, it might very well end up being the AT&T one. Any idea why Apple is doing this?
  15. With respect to B12, I think there was some sort of interim deadline which past by on 7/31 and TV stations which didn't submit a plan for moving off of Ch. 51 or implementing concurrent operations by that date will probably end up waiting a while before they relocate. Also, I believe in areas where channel 51 exists, the FCC extended the buildout deadline past the already-extended Dec 2016 deadline, so those owning 700A licenses in those areas are now in no rush to build out. So, as much as It would be nice to see T-Mobile deploy that spectrum under some sort of deal with Sprint, I think there's a good chance we might not see that take place for a while. The big question with respect to 700A are what will happen to the huge swaths of licenses owned by Continuum and AB (formerly Cox), many of which are set to expire in just 15 months if not build out to the minimum 35% geographical coverage.
  16. Oh, OK, that model isn't even listed on Moto's site (four other models are). Strange.
  17. Which variant of the previous X are you referring to because according to Moto's website, neither of the two CDMA variants supported B26 or B41 (and as such Sprint obviously wouldn't have been interested in whitelisting them).
  18. They actually changed several of the international bands too. This morning it said: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 17, 20, 25, 28, 40, 41 Now it says 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 25, 26, 38, 41 Talk about a cluster-you know what
  19. Yeah, but like AJ noted, for FCC approval they actually sent TWO variants. One with CDMA and Verizon/Sprint support and one without. Very confusing indeed since they specs they list on Moto's site do indeed match up with the "GSM" model, and yet they claim that it is "pure" and one variant should work with all carriers. Go figure.
  20. Yes, my understanding is that Style = Pure. Apparently Motorola has no plans currently to sell the Play model in the US.
  21. The current price of the Nexus 6 is $499. Different yes, but not that much different.
  22. True, however, the Nexus 6 does have support for bands 29 and 26 so at least there is precedent for a recent Motorola handset which supports both.
  23. Yeah, that is a darn shame because once a device already supports B5, then from a technical perspective, adding support for B26 is a relatively minor effort (compared to adding say B41 to a US device which might otherwise doesn't support super-high bands and/or LTE TDD). Not sure what was Motorola's thinking on this one, especially given they put B41 support in the device.
