  1. Now it's saying I'm supposed to create an Oculus acct., I have no need. It also said that there was a "power sharing" app that I had to get from the Samsung App Store that it has just loaded onto my device that if I don't use 'just right' will drain my battery IMMEDIATELY... Scary stuff. Not loading that if I can avoid it. I don't have any of this Gear, why should I be messing with these scary Galaxy apps?
  2. Since 11am PDT my note4 has been trying to get me to install Samsung Gear at about 145mb. I don't have SG and probably won't get it, but my phone keeps bugging me... Just now it started making odd wah-wah noises and provides a printed message saying to install the software! I can't seem to get it to acknowledge I don't want it. I guess I'll have to install. Oh- says Samsung Gear VR. Eight programs including two Oculus programs. Sorry, 128.48mb.
  3. Dkoellerwx - my phone in-explicitly refused to download via WiFi, and yes- I did have WiFi preferred on. I checked and ordinary content loaded quite nicely via CoxWiFi but my phone just would not download that update via WiFi. I checked my Sprint Acct data usage this morning and it doesn't show yesterdays download at all-- the reporting may just be delayed or does Sprint not count phone update data usage?
  4. Last night I tried to download Marshmallow to my Note 4 and was told it would take 9+ hr.s... I figured I'd just plug it in overnight and let it go. Unfortunately my signal at home degraded so much, I kept getting download failed messages. When I gave up late at night, it said 19% complete 09:29:30 to complete... SignalCheckPro shows LTE 1900 bouncing around between -111 and -104 every few seconds. These results are consistant. I solved my download problem by going near a known tower in OB to get my Marshmallow update in only 2 1/2hr.s. I would be REALLY POd at Sprint if any of my friends got better reception in my part of Pt. Loma, but their reception is generally worse with other carriers. Yes, I've tried Airave- for unknown reasons it doesn't help. Good reason to keep up my land line.
  5. I finally had to go to OB and park near a know tower to get the 2 1/2 hr. download. Updated now-- I also noticed the increased number of signal strength bars. If I hadn't kept up here I would have thought Marshmallow had somehow increased my phone sensitivity.
  6. jreuschl, you were right. It is downloading now- but my connection is so bad that while 19% complete my phone says 9+ hr.s to complete...
  7. Haven't seen it yet-- this PocketNow article says it may be only a limited 'soak test?' http://pocketnow.com/2016/03/24/sprint-samsung-galaxy-note-5-note-4-marshmallow-updates
  8. Do the new 200gb microSDs work in our Notes?
  9. So, is this timetable real? http://pocketnow.com/2016/03/01/samsung-marshmallow-update-roadmap-note-4-note-edge
  10. I've found a hole in Sprints coverage at Denny's near Mission Blvd. and Garnet. When I'm parked there my GN2 says it's getting 4 bars of 3g, & no 4g, but no data connection at all. It's nice and flat there- shouldn't I be getting goodness from the nearby tower (1-2 blocks NE of Denny's)?
  11. I found the below article re note 2 L adoption on GSM.arena-- http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_to_bring_lollipop_to_s4_note_2_and_others-news-10566.php --claims since source is a Samsung co. site in Finland more believable. I hope it is true, I want the SDcard fix! Otherwise having on phone storage is not as useful. Not only does all connections fail in the canyons of San Diego, but even on the flat at Denny's near Mission Blvd. and Garnet all Data goes bye bye. It's all well and good having tons of Dropbox space, but useless when there is no data link.
  12. Woke up this morning- looked at my phone and saw "7:10 am." OK, I slept in abit. Nothing too bad, but then I realized ! there where no planes flying out of Lindberg Field! -How could this be?! That lawsuit way back when allowed them to start at 6:30 am and they still aren't flying?? Of course, checking my computer and my weather ime widget both told me that it was regular wake up time- just past 6am... I looked in the Notes settings and saw I have saved the "Auto date and time" and the "Automatic time zone" so device time should have shown 6:20 by then, but it still showed 7:20 - I could uncheck it and fix time but rechecking it restores bad time... Hmm, 6:45/7:45 still wrong time- Mountain of a molehill-- restarting my device fixed time. Oh well, guess my Note is just getting old... Maybe I should get something newer? I wonder if there is something better out there? /s
  13. That puzzled me also from BGR's printing of Samsung's poster- http://bgr.com/2014/09/16/galaxy-note-4-specs-samsung-graphic/ All that angst about no 128 support and now sayin' they do? Position the phone at the right distance and I have same field-of-vision as my laptop. For media consumption why would I need anything else? Unfortunately, as a lefty my note II sucks big time for non-awkward input.
  14. I have heard that the Note 2 and 3 will work fine with 128gb microSD cards. However, the Note 4 says "up to 64gb." What gives? It should be able to use 128 cards as well, yes? - But why not acknowledge that explicitly?
  15. I just got the Tab 3 as an Oops gift from Sprint when they messed with me over comp-ing me an Airave. I noticed that same problem with Netflix. In the time since your post, Zballer, have you found a way around the problem of barely there menus?
  16. All this worry about what would happen to my apps on the sd card and now no big change. If anything I gained a few hundred megabytes available in phone memory. Also, I haven't seen any change to usability or speed of access post kitkat installation.
  17. So what do you think of the Gal W? Are you going to trade in your GNII for one of these "small" phones? (Assuming they ever come to the US) /s
  18. In my part of Pt. Loma, because of the fold of the land, about 1 in every 3 to 4 calls terminate. This while sitting my living room. Very frustrating. We have towers to the northwest and southwest only about four blocks away. But there is a dead zone by us. There are several other such empty areas about, I think we're screwed.
  19. Ubergizmo has an article today that Gal Note 2 Kit Kat updates have begun to roll out from Sprint. Software version is now L900VPUBNE2. Do any of you have it? Was it worth waiting for? And just how bad is it to have the use of the external micro sd storage curtailed for all apps? A friend of mine has the GN3 and was chagrined to find all the apps that he had moved to external memory had reverted back! I watched him try to move several back and the most he acheived was a few hundred megabytes out of gigbyte apps.

Each of these sites also have speculated if Sprint is going to be limited to the STANDARD model and not the PRIME model.
  21. Stephen schenck at a Pocket Now has an article regarding a User Agent Profile that provides quite different specs than have been written about above. He said: "The thing is, this Sprint GS5 identifies itself as having a 1080p screen and just 2GB of RAM, instead of the 3GB expected for the premium edition. There’s also mention of a 13MP main camera, instead of a 20MP or even 16MP component." He says it really came from Sprint, if that is so, are we getting the lower quality version? Or perhaps both versions and we have not yet seen that file?
  22. Wow! Just got the over the air 4.3 update! Even though the forums said to expect the update before the end of the year, since then I hadn't heard any more news lately. I'm very happy to find that my auto-rotate, that had failed some months ago, has been restored.
  23. In my part of Pt. Loma there are two active LTE sites- one near Sunset Cliffs and Pt. Loma Ave. and the other at Catalina Blvd. and Talbot St. I've walked the area several times and the purple looks great on the Sensorly map. When out walking in the pale purple- not the lightest tho' - I get the nice LTE access, but until yesterday I've never got LTE at home which is also in pale purple. For a glorious six hours I had 20 down and 6 up in the early evening. Now, it's back to 1.5 down and 0.6 up. Hmm with all the pops and grackles last night, do fireworks enhance LTE signals?
  24. I've been mapping in my part of Pt. Loma, where there seems to be two active LTE towers. One tower, near the Fresh n Easy on Catalina Blvd. by Talbot St. Where the signal looks to be pointed south along Catalina. The other nexus, seems to be at Ebers and Pt. Loma Ave. My list shows that tower actually 1/2 block east of Sunset Cliffs Blvd. along the south side of Pt. Loma Ave. That LTE source would be great for me- I live within the purple painted area- except due to the folds of the land I currently have no LTE connection. So howcome 3g gets to me and 4g doesn't? For that matter, I've walked and driven past the edges of the purple and there are holes that persist on the map- is the signal blocked because of the land's ridges and dipping there? Is that why no apparent signal at Venice and Savoy and yet Venice and Del Mar has a signal? - But the crest follows along Santa Barbara from Orchard north so both are below the lip of the hill. The next tower to the north, still on 3g now, is I believe at Lotus and Bacon (near Robb Field). That tower may not be of use to us to the south as there are two ridges between there and my area. One ridge along Narragansett and the other along Coronado both block line-of-sight to the tower. So, how much earth can these signals go through?
  25. Yesterday I noticed a an alert notice from HTC on my evolte telling me to: "Authorize HTC Sence to access Facebook" on my phone. I don't want to do that, bcs HTC gives no detail of what they will do once authorized. I just checked on HtC and Sprint Community for info of what this is & couldn't find any mention at all. Now I just want to get rid of the announcement. "Clear" doesn't work, side swiping doesn't work. Grrh! With much trepidation I decided to implement it- now the phone says it is going to use alot of data in the background and to be aware my data charges 'may' increase. Which is dumb, since sprint's plans are 'unlimited.' OK, 2 questions- 1) is it possible to get rid of system alerts without doing what is requested? 2) can facebook background updates use more than a gig a month? -- since my daughter updates me on her friends doings & she has lots of friends.
