Drove by the tower here in Alamogordo. New line markings around the tower. They also marked Tmobile fiber line going to their AAV box. Hoping this is Sprint getting the fiber going. Ran into and Ericsson tech there working a repair. He made the comment that there is no fiber to any sprint tower in NM. I do not think he is current on that. He couldn't give me any info. on the LTE. So still a waiting game down here. Sprint must have gotten a lot of new customers down here. Data speeds have been very bad for the last three months. Even off peek speeds are way down. This started about the same time I started getting bogus tower locations. I wonder if they are related?

Anyone else (who is still on 3G) have speed problems since the update. I use to get good off peak speeds. Since the update speeds are down 50-70 %.

My OTA just hit my phone. Wish I had LTE here.

I remember getting excited about a year ago when I saw they had started NV at that tower. It was almost a year from start of NV work to LTE being fired up there!

Ugh, if they are on that schedule then we have another six months in Alamogordo.

That is weird. Right now it just seems to be my local tower that is wrong. When I was in Las Cruces last week it has those towers correct. Interesting.

would anyone know why my phone (Nexus 5) would be giving bogus tower locations? I get one location during the day that is nowhere near a tower or box that I can tell. then at night I get a totally different one. Using three different signal apps. and they are all showing the same locations. This starting about a week agol

What is frustrating in Alamogordo is that we have fiber to the tower. So we are waiting for sprint to install the AAV boxes. So now it is on sprint to get er done

I don't know what is going on but I can not find the google camera in the play store. Is it a third party app?

I haven't been home since I noticed the LTE, but it looks like the same tower that was accepted first last time. We will see after I watch 300 with the wife
Sensorly mapped LTE on amador and valley drive, and at university and I-10

Had a LTE signal for 2 seconds in cruces. It was a low signal so it might have been some residual signal from El Paso but not likely. I need to drive around after my kids soccer game. Has there been any acceptances in cruces in the last day?
There is some more on the sensorly map for cruces, looking good for Cruces

Just noticed the upgraded equipment near Walmart off walnut and Walton in cruces. They only have 4/6 plugs connected so not sure why the 2 center plugs wouldn't have connectors or be connected. Didn't have sub 100 ms pings and data was low and hard to get but that is essentially a very busy tower.
On a separate note, http://www.engadget.com/2014/03/13/tmobile-lte-expansion/
This might be the reason tmobile is installing fiber.
Tmoble will have LTE here in Alamogordo shortly. Good new is that Sprint is on the same tower. So they have fiber now. Just need to get the AAV equipment in.

I found CL installing the fiber for the T-Mobile side of the tower here in Alamogordo. He said they will be doing sprint but do not have a WO for it yet. There is no AAV cabinet for Sprint yet. He told me they are averaging about 30 days on WO when they get them. So I hope Sprint can get there side done.

If it's for CenturyLink, it will be for any CL customer in the area. So, as long as CL is still the backhaul vendor for Sprint in that area, I would take that as good news.
Robert
I will be looking for their crew. I hope they will have that information when I ask them.

Sprint is just BAD in Albuquerque.i consistently pull 2+ download speeds in Los Lunas. Eventually Sprint won't suck in Albuquerque. But we are a very low priority for Sprint. And the online CS reps are extra special. I believe they are bots. Sorry couldn't post anything useful, But when you talk about Sprint in Albuquerque. ...nor a lot of positives
I have been with Sprint for four years now. I have seen them improve by leaps and bounds since I first started using them. I moved over from Verizon due to their CS and pricing. I knew I was going to be stepping down from a coverage standpoint but I felt it was worth it. Yea I sure wish Sprint was better then they are now, but I am willing to wait it out. I think in the next couple of years it they do not go bust they will be equal to or better then AT&T and Verizon. I just hope after they are done with the NV upgrade they continue to add more cell sites in some of the rural areas in NM. I

I talked to a sprint rep he told me Las Cruces and ABQ 4G LTE should be ready by June.
Sprint reps are the last ones to know anything about that. Your best chance to find out things are to catch the crews working on the tower, become a sponsor for this site, and being patient. Once the fiber is in, that is the best indication of LTE progress after the tower upgrade. Las Cruces current 3G accepted tower have been that way for close to a year now. I don't get to cruces much, I was on the east side a couple of weeks ago. None of the speed test I did indicated fiber at those towers. Good 3G data speeds but the pings were well above 150ms. Sprint will get it done, maybe by June but that is not something the store reps are gonna know.

I have been waiting for LTE for two years now. We are now on the backside of the NV upgrade I do not think another six months is all that long. And now that I have cut my cell bill by $80/m on the new Framily plan I am not going to sweat the wait for LTE. 98% of my data is wifi anyway. As son. As LTE is lit up everyone will be screaming for Sprint Spark. then once that is out everybody will be screaming the the next best thing. They way I see it you will always be waiting for something.

Personally, I hope the above is true. Unless I can find a bunch of people wanting to move to Sprint, the New Framily Plan makes no sense for me with only two lines. Personally, I would prefer to stay on the ED1500.
Even though I don't tend to upgrade once a year, I have an upgrade available on my line, and my use it on the new HTC M8 to get the newest HTC device, and lock-in my ED1500 plan.

Finding people is not hard at all. I was up to ten in just about two weeks. there are a couple of sites that you can post your ID on and people will use it to sign up. As of now I have 11 people on my Framily plan. Not sure how the eleventh one got on. but they are there. So I am sure they will be taken off soon. So with my two line I went from $150 down to $90. Then with the discount I am down another $6.40 to $83.60 with unlimited data. Just remember they will not prorate the bill as people sign on. That is why they say it can take two billing cycles to show the current discounts.
-
LOL, how long will the eleventh person be on my Framily plan? Hope the person gets something it's not his fault he got put on a full plan.
-
They dont have to. They more than likely will a little but not much, zero precent financing on the phone bill will countinue to support phone prices, i believe anyway. I think everyone who works in the industry is glad to see subsidies go away. You want a high end phone buy one, like a tv.
What I think will happen is phone prices will drop. Look at apple. iPads cost less then their phones. With more competition and companies competing directly for business. That is better for us.
-
I am still looking on yahoo and goggle for any rumors of the subsidized phones going away all together at sprint. NO matter how i search it is not out there even in rumor. Either it is not going to happen or it is a well kept S4GU secret lol
I do not think they are going to announce it. I just think one day you will not be able to get it. I think all the carriers now provide a separate finance options for buying phones. I hope this will lead to cheaper phones down the road and maybe fully unlocked phone.

Yea, Alamogordo is one step closer. Ran into a contractor running fiber to the area where the box is going to be installed. They did not know when it would be installed, he did say that most of the sites he has worked the fiber boxes where done withing a few weeks of him running the fiber to the area. Forgot to ask him about the tower by Holloman. There was a crew ou there the other day. Sure hope they get this done soon.
