  1. The fiber requirement?  Are you talking about minimum performance specification?  If so, it varies by site based on anticipated demand.  But it must be scalable to increase for future growth.

I was thinking more along the line of type and number of cables run from the tower to CL. (If that is the correct way to phrase it) i do not know anything about fiber. Just was wondering if T-Moble runs their own will Sprint have to run a new and separate line.

  2. If they are using the same backhaul provider, it very well could just be branched off for Sprint right at the compound.  And it's possible this spur is being built for both of them, and they both already have orders in.  But the person doing the work may only know of one entity involved.  Did anyone find out who the AAV backhaul being installed for T-Mobile was from?

I saw the ground ouside the tower is marked for digging. Do you know the fiber requirement for sprint on its towers? I am sure that this dig is in relations to T-Mobile current upgrade. If I can catch the dig crew working maybe I can ask some intelligent questions and find out how much fiber is being run.

  3. Got the link for that? I want to read the terms and conditions.

I couldn't copy the link, but I copied the text. Okay the link show up at the bottom.

  4. I was frustrated after learning that I could not have my son and his wife who are sprint customers as well join a framily with me. So for 4 phones AT&T is offering $160 with 10gb of data to share and T-Mobile is offering $160 fur 4 phones with 2.5 gb line. Same Sprint Framily plan is $160 for 4 phone with only 1 gb per line... What gives? Sent from my LG-LS980 using Tapatalk

I think the plans for AT&T and T-Mobile camels out to counter Sprints Framily plan. I am not sure but I think the big plus for sprint is the separate billing.

I did not ask who he was with, and I did not see any company logos. I do not know of anyone else here who could provide back-haul other then CenturyLink. I do not think Baja Broadband would do that for them. the new box installed was right next to T-Mobile/At&T cabinets.

  6. Anybody else getting confused by their first bill on the Framily plan?  We merged 2 ED 1500 plans into one account and put them on a framily.  My first bill shows prorated framily billing for Jan 14-Feb 7, but with no discounts for having 10 lines.  There are no prorated billing amounts for the ED 1500 plans from Jan 8-13, but there are credits showing up for the ED 1500 for Jan 14-Feb 7 along with credits for the premium data charges.  This makes no sense and appears to be more than we should be paying.

I received my first bill and it looks correct. They only had to prorate for 3 days for my old plan. Bill had the full price then then further down it had the discount for the two lines.  I just wish I was having luck getting more people on my plan. So far no takers on a couple of the website I posted my  id on. My wifes parents are thinking about it.

  7. I went into a local corporate store before my N5 arrived in November; they knew what I needed, but weren't too certain about how they were supposed to give it to me.. a tech eventually came out from the back room with one he folded up in a little piece of paper and just sent me on my way. I believe that now the procedure is they are supposed to "sell" it to you for free through their system, so they probably need the phone activated so the SIM sale can be properly recorded on your account.

I don't think it has anything to do with where you bought it, they just need to keep track of their inventory if a SIM is going out the door. Plus, it prevents those who are less savvy from generating a support call to Customer Care later blaming the store for not helping them get their phone working.

    -Mike

I was pretty ticked off. Called in a complaint about the store. (maybe I should not have). If they are tracking them all the have to do is sell it under my account. Both the store and sprint care said their is no charge for the card. There is no store in my town and this one is an hour away. I order one through sprint international but it is on back order and from comments here I can be in for a long wait.

I can under stand that they do. Not want to had them out hand over fist. I just am not happy about having to make a special trip to get it. I am will be in the area of another corp store this weekend so will try in person this weekend. Maybe I will luck out.

  8. So I tried to get my wife to pick up a sim card from the Corp. store by her work. They told her they can not give her the card and that I have to take the phone to them to get activated. From what I have read they should have been able to give me one.

Looks like I will have to wait for the back order one to come it.

  9. Aw geez!  My Nexus 5 should be arriving today via UPS.  I just called Sprint and they said they were 2 months backordered on the SIM cards!  That's nuts!

Anyone have a Sprint SIM card lying around???

When I ordered my sim today, I was told back order was about a week. Sure hope it is not two months. I should have my phone on Monday.

  10. The problem with that is the double standard.  Many Sprint variant devices support GSM/W-CDMA, but almost no AT&T and T-Mobile variant devices support CDMA2000.

So, device portability effectively becomes a one way street.  Take your unlocked device from Sprint to AT&T or T-Mobile, okay.  Take your unlocked device from AT&T or T-Mobile to Sprint, no dice.  And that is unfair to Sprint.

Thus, Sprint has little incentive to unlock its branded devices for use on other domestic providers.

How much more is it to equip the phones to run on all carriers? In the next couple of years I bet it would not be hard at all. If all subsides die couldn't that bring in more competition phone and plans?

  11. Once everybody has to buy phones unsubsidized by carriers device prices are going to go down.  The Device makers will no longer be able to hide their bloated device prices behind the subsidy.  A 16GB iPhone has no business being $649 retail.  With the volly ATT fired over the weekend, I think the move to unsubsidized devices is well underway and I think when it settles you will see the sweetspot of top end device prices settle in the $400-$500 range.

And there will always still be the used market if you don't want to pay full retail.  I pointed my buddy to swappa where like new iPhone 5s's are selling in the $400 range.  Used prices will probably rise, but it will always still be a cheaper option then retail.

Another thing I hope happens is all phone become unlocked. Would be nice to be able to take my phone with me if I move carriers. Though I am not saving money switching to framily, I do like not having to be on a contract. Pluse I can lower my bill when I find people to add. Let the phone wars begin,
