Sprint's/Shentel's are fairly distinctive vs other carriers. If you can get a picture, we can probably tell you.
I took this picture on my way to work about 2 days ago but it might be a bit to far to see.
I'll try again tomorrow morning since it'll practically be night time by the time I pass by the tower and I can't take a pic today.
-
AT&T and T-Mobile are also mounting RRUs behind the antennas.
Darn. Well now I have no idea if this is a Sprint tower.
-
Thanks. I'm looking forward to seeing your war driving plotting.

Is Sprint the only carrier placing the RRU's behind the antennas or are other carriers doing this as well?
If they are the only ones doing this then Shentel is definitely upgrading a tower near the York Fairgrounds on West Market Street and South Richland Ave

I'm getting ehrpd all over York, PA as well as New Oxford, PA

If that q was for me.... Didn't check...sorry... Ill check next time...

To find out just go to your speed test app, go to results and just tap on that individual test. It will then show you some more details about that test including whether you are on ehrpd or not

No one can force me to stay, I have to right to say how I feel. If u don't like it don't read my comment. Not complaining just saying my speed is unacceptable. I post on here all the time.

You know as a person that actually follows this site and knows that there are upgrades taking place, let alone someone who has connected to LTE and see how fast it is, I am pretty disappointed at this sudden desperation post. Knowing that upgrades are coming should help you cope, not make your frustration worse. I would expect that from people that don't follow this site and don't know that upgrades are on the way.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not scolding you because I'm not your dad, but just wanna say that if anything knowing upgrades are under way in your area should make you excited. But it doesn't help that this website elevates excitement and anticipation into obsession. But I ain't mad, I'm obsessed and I love it. Can't wait for LTE!

Great. Keep Sensorly running and when you get a chance, take some alternate routes and watch the Sensorly map grow. The more Sensorly users, the better.
I hear ya, on the way home I took 234 East but my phone refused to connect to LTE. Either they blocked it or my EVO was not in the mood for some sweet LTE lovin.

I think we will see it Launch next year things are going so slow sprint need to work faster. As i was reading report Verizon will be done with its LTE by mid of 2013 and getting rid of 3G and 1X everyone should get a 4G LTE phone. I understand sprint is rebuilding there sites but they are taking way to long.
You do know that Sprint is rolling out their LTE just as fast, if not faster than any of the other carriers? You are very impressed with Verizon's LTE coverage but you gotta remember that they first launched their LTE in December 2010 vs July 2012 for Sprint. Now considering that Verizon had a year and a half head start over Sprint and Sprint is only gonna be finishing about 6 months after Verizon, I think Sprint's moving at a very fast pace and you need to just stop being impatient.

This morning on my way to work I was able to connect to 4G in York, on the west side of 30 where it merges with PA 462. It's now mapped on Sensorly.
-
Just went on Sensorly and saw a minor blip of LTE in Hanover, Pa. Looks like Shentel means business.

(Note: I was sent here by a member on HoFo, so this is a direct copy/paste of my post on there)
LTE is available ~30 miles away, my local towers' data speeds dropped significantly and when I called up sprint they told me that the towers were slow because they were being upgraded to LTE and it should go live in Jan.
I currently have an iPhone5, but there is no jailbreak and a LOT of people are scratching their heads and saying there may never be a jailbreak. I *need* tethering (my home DSL goes from 3mbps to 0.7-1.0mbps every few nights and usually once a week (sometimes more) it completely goes down for upto 4 hours) so I'm looking at heading back to android so I can tether.
My question is this: Should I spend the money (which is tight right now) to get an LTE android phone, with the promise of LTE by January, or should I just reactivate my old EVO 4G (WiMax, not LTE 4g) because sprint is likely just lieing about LTE the same way it was about WiMax (which I was supposed to have "next quarter" of my entire last 2-year contract)
(Note x2: I'm in Cleveland, GA, 30528. LTE is live (I'm told) in Gainesville, GA)
I hope you intend to tether your smartphone via one of sprint mobile hotspot plans.

800 does penetrate better than 1900. However, I used to live in an adobe building. It didn't like 850 nor 1900. I had to go to a window with either. Some building types are just bad for RF no matter what. Brick/Block buildings, especially if rebar is used in the cells, is pretty tough on all RF. It just really depends on a lot of factors. In building reception is always highly variable. 1900 near a tower will be better than 800 far from a tower inside a building, etc., etc.
Robert
Another detail is that Puerto Rico has a lot of mountainous terrain there are tall hills everywhere. 800 would definitely have helped in the coverage department.

I did open the app but don't know how it works lol
Unfortunately you cannot map your coverage with the iPhone 5, only with Android LTE Devices.

Somewhere out near West Manchester mall... Lost the signal going over the hill southbound on Carlisle near Lowes. Solid LTE indoors at Panera. :-)
Fast finger on sensorly captured the area south of 30 to the cemetery. ;-)
Now that you mention it, there is a water tower on the corner of Carlisle and Locust Lane that has some Large antennae and RRU's installed. I haven't passed there in about a week or so I haven't been able to check if it is a Sprint tower but if you say its a tower near the mall that's 1 potential suspect.

There is definitely another site transmitting LTE somewhere in the West side of York. I was driving home from work this evening and I picked up a 4G signal out West where Route 30 meets PA 462/ W Market Street. I tried to launch Sensorly but I panicked and I couldn't turn on my GPS and launch sensorly fast enough It was one of the few times where I was both happy and sad at the same time. I was connected for about 10 seconds heading eastbound towards York.
Will definitely keep an eye out for some 4G out there and try to map it next time I'm heading to work.

Just noticed this post on the Official Sprint forum
http://community.spr...102641?tstart=0
Seems that The Bronx part of the LTE network is coming along.
Nice, If anyone gets the chance to do so, please map on Sensorly.

Quesion on this for a Note 2 user in STL will this effectively double the number of users that could get full speed data or would it require a new phone with another PCS band in it. Hope S4GRU will do s wall post on what it means to users in both 10 an 20 dandwidth areas.
That would be great, I would love to know more on the subject.

I think of all Sprint's LTE phones only the HTC Evo supports 10x10. Everything else is 5x5. I'm just spitting this out from memory though.
Wait, so they also have to build into the devices the ability to connect to bands that wide? I thought as long as a device supported the correct frequency and type of technology they should be able to connect without a problem.

Anyone would like to chime in on how greatly this could affect the Midwest with their LTE rollout? Perhaps some 10mhz LTE deployments?

Sprint Android devices never show LTE signal strength, even when the 4G icon is shown. http://s4gru.com/ind...ignal-strength/

Also what speeds are you referring to as terrible?

Launching around Thanksgiving, listening in now.
200 sites done by year end of 510. 40% of all sites.
Originally planned on launching end of 3rd Q but Alc-Lu had supply shortages.
Hurricane Sandy - Impact only to PA wireless network, 100 sites affected, all back online and was caused by loss of power.
Sorry I didn't listen in to the call. Did they specify what cities are launching around Thanksgiving?

Buffalo Wild Wings, LTE and a Note 2. Does life get better than that???

Add watching Sports to that and you got yourself a good Thursday night.

That really doesn't help either.

Hey Digiblur, what is the best prl that you use for your Evo LTE, I'm using the stock 25009

Looks like the water tower on the south side of Rt 30 is broadcasting. Probably in testing phase, but good coverage through a good bit of East York. Good speeds, but high ping - only grabbed one speedtest.
Great news and great speeds! From the looks of it, the entirety of York can probably be covered with LTE with probably like half a dozen towers.

I was able to stay connected to LTE going south on Roosevelt Ave almost all the way down to Philadelphia street. Thats the farthest into the city I've been able to stay connected to 4G.
