  1. I did see the global.. but I switched over to 'local' ( might said 'nearby' ) with a friend over bluetooth.. it worked pretty well.. probably something I wouldnt use - at least I have no real need for it now.. so I tried it and deleted it..
  2. yeah I think we know that, but it could still be at the same site.. I mean even if its in differnet cabinets some towers could still be all bands.. I've never read anything that said 2500 needs to be on its own site
  3. FireChat enables iPhones to leverage iOS 7's Apple Multipeer Connectivity framework to link directly via Bluetooth personal area networks (PANs), peer-to-peer Wi-Fi or a traditional Wi-Fi network, obviating the need for access to a cellular network. OpenGarden's website indicates the company is working on a Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android version of FireChat as well. http://www.fiercewireless.com/tech/story/apples-ios-7-taking-cellular-out-networking/2014-03-30
  4. Can you elaborate on that ? I mean this "theory".. Do you mean you can't believe they are doing 800, 2500 and 1900 all at once like now ? Who might have got canned for what ? It sort-of made sense they jumped on upgrading old clearwire sites in Columbus.. I guess that brings another question....Do Cols 2500 sites also have 1900 ? I always thought all Sprint sites would ideally have all three bands.. but I had the feeling some sites are only 2500..
  5. Is there any 800 LTE for sprint in columbus market yet?
  6. I gotta say this site is an eye sore.. I know it's supposed to look natural ..but it doesn't .. I know all that matters in the end is service is much improved though..
  7. Only asking because I have no clue... Is a person withOUT a modified PRL going to get the other bands effortlessly.. A co worker of mine is getting the S5 in about a week..
  8. That site is kinda hard to see.. I'm gonna have to go look and see if I can see any evidence of fiber..
  9. I work close to this area and connect to this tower alot.. either way PRE-NV speeds match NV speeds ..so although I wouldn't discount that this area of high traffic is over burdening that site ( as you said above )..my main point was backhaul has not been upgraded for more capacity from at least the last few months of speed test I've seen.
  10. Yeah I know.. in my post I said... "...although it is NV .. ". I was only mentioning this because it would seem if this site were to go LTE in days the backhaul would be in place. Of course, I don't know if its common to lay fiber and have someone come along later..... I've benched this site many times in the last few months because its close to my work.. Speeds after NV are as the same as before as a result..
  11. Well.. on the way back from work I parked near the site located by East Broad and 270 ( this tower is in the cemetery ).. Im assuming although it's NV that backhaul has not been upgraded. On NV 3g at this site I was only getting 0.04 down ! The Rey-NA site just slightly south of East Broad always seems to be decent on speeds for 3g.. at least its useable I mean..
  12. Heading west down East Broad away from Meijers towards Rey-NA Rd .... I stayed on LTE till about almost BP ( corner of East Broad & Rey-NA Rd ) .. the tower I was connected to was the one located about 1 mile East of Target.. Before last week... when I went to this area ( of Meijers, Target,. banks around there ) the speeds were horrid and reception was marginal.. Now its really good for calls and data..
  13. I was only asking because in some of those jobs they don't like guys up there even when there's a slim chance of electric shock or also lightning ( which sometimes there is no warning ) .. I figured for insurance purposes maybe some companies had restrictions.. but after reading your post - I suppose these contractors sign lots of waivers !.
  14. Hey everyone.. Anyone know if the usually elusive tower monkey's are allowed to work in the rain ...or on rainy days is it pretty much 'on stand by' day ................ ?
  15. Do the LG G2 and new Galaxy S5 both support all bands out of the box now ?
  16. Was telling someone this morning I beleive the Sprint LG G2 supports carrier aggregation while the Galaxy S5 doesn't.. Is this correct?
  17. Just did ! This is when you're glad to be a sponsor ! Anyone who has a few bucks extra I'd advise giving a few and becoming a sponsor !
  18. Not sure what areas of Columbus got LTE Coz ..Honestly its hard to track when I'm looking mostly at the East.. Iam very excited to see more progress in East Columbus !
  19. Went to the sponsor thread ( http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/4742-columbus-market-mapspreadsheet/page-124 ) And I didn't see mention of this cluster you speak of ? I mean point us in the direction so I know if I should drive if it's close ? Thanks for your time
  20. Anyone know how the Rey-NA Road site is near East Broad?
  21. Yeah i saw the riff raff between verizon and youtube both blaming one another.
  22. Yes that much is obvious.. My question was focused on whether fiber is at that site. I believe so but i dont know for certain. Some 'NV 3g' sites are still awaiting fiber - thus they are still "slow" compared to what sites with fiber are..
  23. So once they install the ground panels we get NV 3g? Fiber is there already?
  24. Ok, thanks..So these sites have the fiber backhaul and are pretty much 4g ready. At least NV 3g is useable.. Are the other sites near here getting LTE? And... Although ( as you stated above ) : The Rey-Na E Broad site needs an electrician ..this usually seems to happen much later then alittle later ?
