  1. Im closest to the rey-na & taylor tower which isnt gmo. It would make sense if this tower had 1900 but no band 41 because its not densely populated so right now tri band isnt a big deal but down close to broad band 41 wouldnt be ideal for those thick bricked steel roofed buildings like giant eagle etc.. I work near mount carmel on east broad but slightly west of it in a small thick bricked building which 1900 penetrates but not so well at times.. So even with a tri band phone - Band 41 around here and where i work inside would not work - if 1900 works minimally b41 wont.. this area needs 1900 lte ..
  2. The tower closest to me ( which is at Rey-Na & Taylor ) isnt gmo but id think this area will have to get 1900 in order for tri band to work. Having only band 41 around here wouldnt be so great inside giant eagle id think because of penetration
  3. I added to the above post around the time you replied
  4. To get a reply that i wouldnt (shouldnt) hope for LTE is a pretty broad statement. Yes, ive been aware band 41 is around here because of sensorly, but most Sprint users probably not only dont know this but most dont have b41 phones yet. On top of this no 1900 means there is no spark tri band around here. What i really want to know is sprint going to light up East Broad with 1900 or not. They light up these "villages" with 1900 but maybe not this area? The gmo site at Rey Na & Morse Rd is getting it and that area is alot less populated and less business dense then around here where they need tri band..
  5. Wouldnt sprint have to have LTE along Broad ? Or is that one tower needed for it ? GMO's can be LTE right ? The tower slightly north of us ( located at Taylor & Rey-NA Rd ) is not GMO the one slightly north of that ( New Havens Corner & Rey-NA Rd ) is GMO - but you don't need 800 1x there.. I live slightly closer to the Taylo & Rey- NA Rd site which is not GMO, but Id think with the Broad St area being so busy it would be foolish not to have LTE in that area.. you have McDonalds, Taco Bell, Wendy's, Kroger and Giant Eagle, much more all in range of the site off Rey-NA off East Broad St
  6. Well, it's sunday.. 24 hours later then my last post.. I drove to the Rey-Na road tower ( slightly south of E Broad ) --- this time expecting no one to be there so I could take pics.. Evidentally these guys work on Sundays ! The same white truck ( hauling a trailer ) is there and I saw a guy in the cabinet working.. I think this truck has been there the entire past week.. sometime there have been two trucks and yesterday there were 3 trucks.. I'm hoping this means in maybe as few as weeks there will be some LTE here along with the other towers near by could be another turned on cluster of LTE !
  7. Ok, its a few hours later and i drove past the tower avain at Rey-Na just south Of East Broad. There are now 3 trucks there - and i saw a few guys- so they are definately doing some work!
  8. Yeah saw both of the trucks.. White with trailor and a tan colored one..on Rey Na road.. Slightly south of east broad st.. Guys working on the cabinets from what i saw
  9. My wife told me she saw trucks of guys there yesterday (Friday 3/14 ) doing work on that tower.. I never doubted LTE it was coming there - eventually it would have to be flipped on with all the other towers in this area - in a cluster I suppose.... It seems in many cases the cabinets come many weeks before anything, but you never know...
  10. Ghost rider, picked up LTE around 23 AND 270 north
  11. Picture is dark, but it sure looks empty - which would explain why it was left wide open.. If it had new equipment in it, Id 'HOPE they'd have it locked up when no one is around.
  12. After I made the post I thought those stats were probably not being kept up.. The WV stats ( that are part of Sprint NV - NOT Shentel... and includes Marietta Ohio - which is right across the river from WV ) is probably around 90% LTE complete. That area is where my folks live so I've watched it closely. I wasn't aware that nTelos was doing a network upgrade in conjunction with Sprint ( like Shentel was for LTE ).. Shentel's upgrade was done as part of NV .., and uses the same equipment Sprint used. ( http://s4gru.com/index.php?/blog/1/entry-20-sprint-regional-affiliate-shentel-releases-some-more-network-vision-info-in-conference-call-with-investors/ ) I think there was/is rumbling that Sprint may buy Shentel at some point and the equipment wouldn't need to be changed, but the affiliate agreement between the two doesnt expire till 2024 - with provisions made for two 10 year contracts extensions.. Also the areas that are Shentel LTE in WV ( not alot ) are offically done as well. ( Shentel invested over $100 million in 2012 and 2013 building the largest and most advanced 4G LTE and enhanced 3G network in communities stretching along the I-81 corridor from Harrisonburg, VA, through Winchester, VA; Martinsburg, WV; Hagerstown, MD; and Chambersburg, to Harrisburg, PA and east to Hanover and York, and west along the turnpike to Breezewood, and north to Altoona, PA. ) I'm pretty sure that alot of West Virginia is neither Shentel or Sprint. So Sprints LTE coverage in West Virginia is not ideal. I don't know if Sprint has cross agreements with anyone else besides nTelos - for roaming.. I don't think we can count on nTelos bringing much to Sprint though. It appears Sprint may not be renewing any roaming agreements with nTelos: Feb 2014: "NTELOS sinks after firm predicts Sprint deal won't be renewed NTELOS (NTLS), a regional wireless retailer, is tumbling after research firm FBR predicted that the company's partnership with Sprint (S) would not be renewed when the deal expires in 2015. FBR, which noted that NTELOS obtains the majority of its profits from its partnership with the carrier through the Sprint Strategic Network Alliance" My brother lives around there - in an ntelos area and has an nTelos contract. From what I understand, for him this would mean when he leaves the nTelos area he wouldn't be roaming on Sprint (or anyone - unless another agreement is made ) Maybe Coz or someone else knows more..
  13. He is talking about me. It all started when I posted ( months ago ..maybe Aug 2013 ) that I thought West Virginia market would be done before Columbus. He essentially said "You want to bet?" and asked if I was a know it all. I only made "the call" on WV ( likely being done 1st ) because it's much much smaller of an area to upgraded requiring less time and effort .. Both are 4th round markets... and now here today ( feb 22/14 ) the status is : Columbus Market: Status: Partial LTE Launch/NV Upgrades Continuing 47% NV accepted & 28% LTE accepted West Virginia Market: Status: LTE Launched/NV Substantially Complete 97% NV accepted & 50% LTE accepted. Honestly, I really didn't even care if I ended up being wrong and I didn't mention it ever again, until now..... this is a good time to mention it. I asked about the Samsung Galaxy 3 because my friend asked me whether his phone would get the 1x800 and I didn't really know..
  14. Can a Galaxy S3 utilize Sprint 1x800 Voice?
  15. Coz, or Anyone who knows... is there a shentel coverage map ?
  16. Just like ANY company - there are some great people and some people just "working" with no care, no purpose - In others words they don't give a crap. I made a call to Sprint about adding another line I had been approved for in Dec. of 2013. The girl on the line said I'd have to talk to the credit dept. When I finally got to the credit dept the woman there said "It's in the notes - and everyone can see you're approved for another line. Some people are too lazy to look " .. That woman was helpful though and fixed my problem quick. What she said was surprising, but she summed it up. There are lazy people versus hard working people everywhere you look. You can go to any store on any single day and get someone who really help you or someone who doesn't. Part of the problem also is - LTE is widespread in many parts, but when you talk to a Sprint rep - they may not have a clue that Ohio is last on the list. I think many here know much more then a low level customer service rep.
  17. I can see real progress. Yes it seems slow here in Ohio ( and we're last ), but I think it'll be a great network when its done. My sister lives out of state and travels a lot. She has Sprint and says 4g works most places - and does so very well. She has a 1900 LTE phone only.
  18. I know they adjust the angle of the panels.. basically think of an umbrella.. more open - its a wider signal.. close it some and the signal is not as wide but perhaps more focused where it points. At what point they adjust is beyond me - I'd think when its Sprint accepted it would be "ideal"..
  19. Hey Coz The same signal at Kroger ( right off East Broad intersection with Reynoldsburg-New Albany Rd ) the signal was so intermittent that everytime I went to engineering I lost the signal. So I didn't come up with the info we need to which tower it is.. But.. I would assume the signal is coming from the closer brice and main area then the livingston onewhich is more south. I did perform a speed test near kmart off east main street ( reynoldsburg ) ..17.63 down and 6.91 up ! I hope Sprint can turn on East Broad Street and the Easton areas fairly soon.. because Im around there alot working or playing..
  20. Seems like this "waiting around" crap maybe finally paying off some. To see Sprint becoming a company I might be glad I stuck with. The unlimited data is what has kept me waiting mostly. Voice has almost always been great outside, but to see it improving indoors it a welcome surprise. I'm not getting too pumped up just yet.
  21. Coz, I'll post a screen shot tonight or tmr from Kroger parking lot..
  22. yes that's correct, but my understanding was Sprint set the iPhones 800 voice priority as dead last.. maybe thats what happening though.. the voice seemed to get better as they flipped on more of those 800's south of me ( off main street near 270 )..
  23. seems like a stretch .. but possibly so.. I work very close to 270 right off east broad in a medical building.. I've noticed the past week that I have signal inside.. Iam able to make calls inside and usually i can't. What would make this possible - it has nothing to do with 3g/4g.. and the iPhone typically doesnt go for 800 voice unless it is - because it gets nothing else in that building. . Whatever the reason I'm making calls inside !
  24. On lancaster and east broad.. Lte still around 5-6 down speed
  25. At kroger at near 270 right off east broad next to reynoldsburg new albany road.. Picking up LTE.. 2 bars only.. But still 5 Mbps down.. Everyone knows Lte speed is highly signal dependant..what got flipped on near me overnight??!
