  1. ok gotcha.. so with bestbuy you get 50 more dollars.. and 50 bucks is 50 bucks..
  2. Thats what Best Buy is giving for your Nexus ? Sprint stores will give you a credit on the spot to use in store or a credit to your bill.. but you know this right ? They're giving me $226 I think for the iPhone 5 ..
  3. iP6 PLUS: http://www.otterbox.com/apple-iphone-6-plus-cases/apple-iphone-6-plus-cases,default,sc.html iP6 : http://www.otterbox.com/apple-iphone-cases/apple-iphone-cases,default,sc.html
  4. Checked those out... Otterbox has their own "plain case" to go with their usual... its called Symetry.. Its smaller and fits closer and is shaped more like the phone.. See here: http://www.otterbox.com/Symmetry-Series-Case-for-iPhone-6/apl28-amp600,default,pd.html?dwvar_color=20
  5. I called and verified the Easton Sprint store has a 128 Gb Gold - what I ordered over the phone though Sprint Corp.. and they do. So I asked them if there was anyways I could get my phone there ( instead of the one I ordered for myself ) .. I'd have to call Sprint cancel my order ( so they can free up my Upgrade ) plus it would take days to refund my money on my Credit Card. I figured by the time I did this I'd show up and that phone might be gone. So instead I'm waiting... just not so patiently.
  6. Anandtech has a preliminary iPhone 6 benchmark review. A full review ( with more benchmarks ) is in the works. The iPhone did great overall compared to the competition .. Only a few of the artificial 3d mark benchmarks didn't look great but the open gl benchmark Gfx looked very good ..pretty funny to see the iPhone spank the competition using Googles own benchmark Octane. Check it out: http://www.anandtech.com/show/8559/iphone-6-and-iphone-6-plus-preliminary-results
  7. You might be right but I think there's no way to really know. I just called the Morse Rd HQ Plaza Best Buy here in Columbus and they have no iPhone 6+'s of any carrier and the gentlemen told me they did have the iPhone 6 but only the 128gb model and only for Sprint.
  8. I kinda agree.. just posted above my thoughts.. its hard to fairly say and not be sure its just location specific supply and demand
  9. You say that, but where's your proof that bestbuy had more at each store and not just one location where demand wasn't as high ? I mean I was told at a Columbus location they had no iPhone 6+'s on day 1..
  10. You You also kinda forget the supply and demand issue. They sold 10 million phones in 3 days alone .. What's been sold in the last 12 days? The best selling Android phone sold 10 million in 4 weeks. To be able produce enough phones is a massive undertaking in itself.. **To put this another way.. Its taken Sony about a year to sell 10 million PS4 consoles
  11. My thinking was Apple would have more in their own stores before anyone else - but they don't. Best buy had no iPhone 6+'s when we went 3 days after launch.. to the contrary the guy said they had none on day 1..and was surprised to see we had an iPhone 6 plus.. In fact he asked where we got it.. and I said Sprint.. he seemed surprised.
  12. Wow thats great.. all that bandwidth in the busy areas
  13. Makes you wonder how they determine who gets what.. like if a store in your area gets more orders then say another.. and how they prioritize it..
  14. There are programs on itunes for memory and cache, but I dont know to what detail they involve. What is it you're trying to accomplish with making a seperate cache for data ? Files are saved and then accessed through the programs which are associated to them. Such as when you go to pics and your photos and videos are there. If you download a 3rd party app like Photoshop for example you still browse your photo folder. There is no root directory like Windows. When I downloaded Apple Numbers any of the Excel files I uploaded are accessible when i open numbers.. they auto associate.. but like i said if you use 3rd party apps they are also shown in those apps.. like say.. If you download a Audio Equalizer to fine tune your music sound... music will show there also.. For awhile I was accessing all my music and videos I had saved on my hardrive attached to my Asus router which i was using a a wireless server. Everyone in my home ( android and ios ) could access files through the router at home or over wi-fi if not home although none of the files was on our phones..
  15. I downloaded, Numbers ( like Excel ), Keynote ( powerpoint ) and Pages ( Word ) on my iPhone 5c .. So far I'm impressed. I opened up a MS Excel file through a webmail program using Safari that my boss did on a Windows 7 pc.. yeah, without numbers you can view the file but it was very bare, but when I loaded the same file into Apple Numbers- it was just like Excel and had all the previous saves and I could flip through - as if I was viewing it on a Windows PC running MS Office. I'm not sure of the degree of compaitability with Microsoft office, but so far its not too bad.. better then without
  16. .. a return or demo that wasn't cleared out properly then resold .. I'm sure they don't want to incriminate themselves anymore then possible.. I still have my wife's iPhone 5.. we are using it on wifi till we trade it in soon to Sprint once I get my i6+.. Lastnight I "reset" all settings and realised I didnt actually clear it out.. moral of the story.. make sure you dont just reset it to factory settings - actually hit ERASE. My Wifes iCloud was still working on the old phone, not just the new. Unless you turn off the iCloud then delete the email address from the iCloud settings in the device ( ipad, iPhone, Mac ) it'll still be there.. The only way to be completely sure is to erase all data though
  17. I know it's frustrating but they likely knew it wasn't there. Those stores often run on 2 or 3 people tops unless it's in a busy shopping center or mall. So when a shipment comes in which is often morning or afternoon they have to sign for it. They know right away if a phone comes and call the person. Otherwise I'd say most stores aren't getting huge shipments. The day mine came the manager told me when I picked it up mine was the only phone to come and that he was very surprised and then said it must be because you bought a 128 Gb when most are buying 16 & 64 models
  18. First of all I ordered it online this time.. The first time I ordered it at the store on Tuesday - 3 days before launch -and I called Sprint a few days later and the rep told me 4 days I laughed and actually said " I really have no chance of getting it within 2 weeks do I?" (because I thought she was sandbagging)..because online it said 4 weeks but she said it gives the customer a likely time frame. It seems they can see more then you see.. Say if the item is on hand, will be, or if shipping is behind is behind. After I said what I did .. Not sure is she was supposed to tell me.. She said the shipping was behind and sure enough I got it 3 days after launch.. Monday.. As launch was Friday.. I hope this time the staff is just as accurate.. Although it's not a few days it beats 4 weeks. I'll see what happens. The problem is we don't get the logistics of it.. I don't know what depot my phone is coming from compared to someone out west. I doubt Sprint uses one warehouse to ship to the usa but someone knows.. Lastly when I went to bestbuy to buy a case for iPhone 6 pluses they had many kinds mostly sold out.. Except otter box they only had iP6... Not plus.. But we got a decent 20 dollar case for my wife's Plus and on the way out the door a guy said "I didn't even think they were selling those because I haven't seen any" so he was impressed. Kinda felt like I was a big man for 1 second.. The sprint guy told me on that day earlier he had only seen 3 pluses
  19. It took me awhile to figure out which one to get for myself. I wasn't so sure I wanted a phone that big. I got my wifes iPhone 6+ 128Gb only 3 days after launch.. ( it took 6 days from the day I pre-ordered it ) .. but hers came quick for the same reason this one is.. because its the 128 Gb model. Of course hers came faster because I pre-ordered it fairly early. The Sprint representative said the 64Gb model was taking 4 to 6 weeks on the Plus model.. She said the iPhone 6 128 Gb would only be a few days, but I wanted the Plus..
  20. Just ordered the 128 Gb iPhone 6 Plus in Gold with the White face.. Sprint said 2 weeks although they mentioned the iPhone 6 128 Gb would only be 4 days till ship
  21. I don't really know.. but doesn't the size depend on the OEM manufacturer and whats installed by them ? My sons LG G2 came with 32 GB - but only 24 is free. A Samsung Galaxy S5 shows that on a completely clean and brand new 16GB model, there will be about 8.4GB free as usable space, which is a little bit less than what was available on the Galaxy S4. Yes, in your case a completely clean and brand new 16GB Nexus 5 offers about 12.16GB of available space. Although you might be using Kit Kat it's different then the one on the Galaxy S5, no ? I mean my cousin says he gets all his Android updates from Samsung and or his carrier. Let me add I just looked my iPhone 5c ( updated to iOS 8 ).. its taking up exactly 3.3 Gb's .. thats iOS 8 ( the largest iOS so far ) which includes the normal Apple software installed in a base install: Apple Maps, iTunes, Safari, etc.. - which would compare to the normal Google Apps coming with an Android phone. The 3.3 Gb's of iOS 8 is only slightly less then your install of Kit Kat ( the smallest Android yet ).. but the free space on your Nexus phone isn't apparently typical of the base install of other OEM's...Id read somewhere that after a user upgraded his phone to Kit Kat that he was just around 7Gb's and that it was less taken then previous.. I tried finding something more solid on which phone but can't find it yet. So I Google'd the "space taken" by versions of Android. Kit Kat is the smallest - and can run fine on 512mb of RAM.. Half of what an iPhone uses. Gingerbread full install: including Google Apps, source code is 6.5GB, For ICS full install: including Google Apps, source code 9.5GB ..Kit Kat was supposed to be much smaller - but I saw no hard number as what you gave me for your Nexus 5..
  22. Your issue has nothing to do with 1GB of ram. This problem began when they updated to Safari 5.1. ( See explanation below ) People who switch away from a tab for 'awhile' tend to experience this more then people who switch away momentarily. This isn't only happening on iPhones and iPads, but on desktop Mac Pro i7's - with 12 GB of RAM- anything running Safari - so this isn't memory related. Some are using Chrome on iOS until Apple fixes this. I found this explanation from a guy at MacWorld who explains having your issue and said he now uses Chrome until a Safari fix is released.. "Safari Web Content—a core element of what Apple calls WebKit2, the rendering engine that powers Safari—is actually an attempt by Apple to emulate one of Chrome’s key features: By decoupling Safari (the browser) from Safari Web Content, the browser should remain more resilient if an individual webpage goes haywire. Thus, rather than having a rogue Flash script crash your entire browser, it should only crash the current tab. That’s now true of both Chrome and Safari.... The problem is that Safari’s implementation is flawed, and Apple hasn’t fixed it yet. Like the iPad and iPhone, Safari for Mac NOW refreshes tabs’ content when you go back to them if you haven’t viewed them in a while, which can wipe out any content you’ve entered into a form. Even if there’s no form data to lose, this behavior still means that you get to wait for the page to load all over again."
  23. The people who bent the phones- had put the phones into the change pocket which sits at the top inside of the right pocket typically. This is very dumb anyways. It's right at the bend when you sit. I did this a few times with my 5c - which I knew could nearly be run over. I'll probably get the otter box defender myself because I drop my phone too much.
  24. Yeah..It has a nice feel in the hand for sure..but one drop on the pavement and you'll wish it felt like a phone with a plastic case around it before it was dropped.
  25. The 1Gb of ram is plenty.. You gotta keep in mind your Android devices are running an operating system double the size of iOS 8. That's 4 GB versus 8gb in android. This is why they developed the kit kat version so they could run a leaner android better on devices with less ram while keeping the device running smoother. Kit Kat is still around 7 Gb in size.. This is why the Android Flag ship phones require more ram. I ran a Galaxy S4 against the 5s last year. The S4 has higher specs overall in areas like ram ( not the cpu of which the Apple A7 is very strong ). But the iphone was more reponsive and slowed down less when opening many programs the OS never hiccuped.. People try and compare specs but it's like comparing a pc running windows xp versus one running windows 7.. The computer running windows xp runs as fast -or faster- although it has 1/3 the ram and a slower cpu. Basically engineers use the hardware they require to push the software they are using on any given device. Bigger OS requires more ram and cpu to run as smoothly as a device running a much smaller operating system. Pls check out this iPhone 5s reviews which shows performance compared to top end Android phones: ( you can switch to next page of review at bottom of screen )http://www.anandtech.com/show/7335/the-iphone-5s-review/5
